Hi all, desperately TTC after 2 miscarriages. Currently taking pregnacare vitamins, using preceed during DTD and tracking ovulation, so DTD at the right times. Am I missing something or did you do anything specific to conceive? Thanks! 🤩

A friend who was in similar situation was advised to take a daily antihistamine. I can’t remember why but she now has two DCs.

LizzeyBenett · 11/02/2024 18:35

I'm sure opinions will differ on this but I really don't like pregnacare totally messed up my period i don't think they are a very good quality brand again personal opinion . I would switch to a higher quality vitamin , maybe Zita west ? Try relax easier said than done I know but it definitely helps x

LW678 · 11/02/2024 18:43

@LizzeyBenett that’s interesting, will look into the zita west. In what way did it mess up your periods if you don't mind me asking?

Are 240g of sockeye salmon twice a week before conceiving for about 2 months.

Concieved immediately at 40 and 41

LimeEagle · 11/02/2024 18:52

I’ve been taking pregnacare for a few months. Might be a coincidence but this month I’m having the longest cycle with delayed ovulation!

LizzeyBenett · 11/02/2024 19:00

@LimeEagle they all but disappeared I o my figured out months Into panicking and doctor visits that it seems to be a know side effect of pregnacare there are threads here on it as well , they deny it but actually have a disclaimer in there website now about it .

KnittingKnewbie · 11/02/2024 19:07

Reflexology/acupuncture

LimeEagle · 11/02/2024 19:11

@KnittingKnewbie how long have you had acupuncture? Has it helped you? I’ve been looking into this also x

mrssunshinexxx · 11/02/2024 19:13

Conceived twice - but only when we stopped trying.

Rocknrollstar · 11/02/2024 19:31

My DM told my neighbour to drink a bottle of cherry brandy and have sex on top of the wardrobe. I don’t think they followed this advice to the letter but she got pregnant.

Catswillbecats · 11/02/2024 19:34

I work with a doctor who recommends the man eat a handful of nuts every day. Walnuts, almonds especially.

zinky · 11/02/2024 19:38

Maca

zinky · 11/02/2024 19:39

Also ovulation calendar

Olika · 11/02/2024 19:47

I changed Pregnacare to Proceive and started taking coq-10.

SwordToFlamethrower · 11/02/2024 19:47

Me best tip is IVF

RoyKentmyhero · 11/02/2024 19:49

I have PCOS. Didn't use contraception but not actively trying IYSWIM. The 2 times I conceived was when I was trying to clear my skin. I was religiously drinking 2 litres of water a day. Weight was low too. As when I was diagnosed they told me to try and keep it low.

Trusttheprocess1 · 11/02/2024 19:52

Sounds ridiculous but loads of sex! I tracked ovulation and thought I’d missed the window (navy wife and he was away loads). Must have ovulated twice as I got pregnant when I didn’t expect to. The only other thing I did was put my legs up afterwards!

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 11/02/2024 19:57

Stop thinking about doing everything right, go out for a nice meal, get really quite tiddly, have good sex where you orgasm before he does.

Worked for me twice after 12+ months trying to conceive .

BurbageBrook · 11/02/2024 20:08

I stopped drinking caffeine and alcohol which I think helped my hormones get on an even keel. Apparently alcohol increases oestrogen levels which can affect fertility.

Also goes against the every two days theory but I conceived on the day we had sex twice 🙈

BurbageBrook · 11/02/2024 20:08

Also OP I'm so sorry about your MCs.

LW678 · 11/02/2024 20:29

Thank you (nearly) everyone for your comments, trying to relax as much as possible but when you’ve been through 2 miscarriages it’s tricky!

@Rocknrollstar really unnecessary and disrespectful, I presume you’ve not been through the heartbreak of a miscarriage.

Hi Op, really sorry to hear about your miscarriages. I hope you have access to all the support you need.

I am just entering year 2 of TTC. I had an early miscarriage Dec 23/Jan 24.
I have no success stories to share. But, after almost a year of ‘casual trying’ that month I had followed advice to the letter from various threads on here.

The advice I am still following is: no alcohol. I sometimes have a few drinks during my period, but then I’m alcohol free from then on until my next starts, or I get a BFP! Good diet, lots of fruit, veg, nuts and lean meat. Same for DH.
Keeping weight stable with exercise.

I was taking PregnaCare for 18months, but I have now switched to Boots own Folic acid. As PP have stated PregnaCare is know to extend the cycles of some women. They have now printed a disclaimer to state this on the box. This was in part one of the upsetting elements I kept replaying in my mind when I had the early miscarriage. My cycle has always been 28 days, even as a teen it was regular. It was over a week late, and then I had a faint line on the first pregnancy test I did. This was followed by a negative the next day, and subsequent negatives over the next few days. My period eventually appeared 9 days late. I now know this was a chemical pregnancy. However, at the time I was questioning whether the faint line was an evaporation line and my cycle was just longer due to taking pregnacare. I want to avoid suffering through that happening again.

I have also only bought red dye test pregnancy tests as it seems they are far less likely to have an evaporation line that could be mistaken as a false positive. Again, just an attempt to protect myself from further heartache.

I have only used ovulation test strips after my early miscarriage to see if I did have an LH surge and hopefully ovulate again in my next cycle.

Our plan is to DTD every other day, and every day during fertile window. This is sometimes easier said than done. But we figured it’s an aim!

I have also decided to stay out of the hot tub as although I cannot find any evidence it has an impact. If bromine water does get ‘inside’ it cannot be good for sperm so giving that up for now.
The cat is also not allowed to sleep on DH’s lap for hours while he is working. I read that any kind of heat on the testes, laptops included, can impact sperm production. Just 30mins a few times a week can reduce and deform, it can then take weeks once exposure stops for ‘fresh’ sperm that are healthy to be produced. So DCat is stuck with just my lap for the foreseeable :)

Wishing you all the luck!

mylifeisprettygood · 11/02/2024 20:35

I have pcos and had several miscarriages but conceived when I didn't go to the toilet after sex and like someone else said, put my legs in the air or a cushion under my bum. I think gravity helped.
