Well I'm 2dpo and my DH and I have just got a bfp COVID test. Not the bfp we wanted this month that's for sure. Not sure what the impact is on conception, anyone know?

I had it earlier on in my cycle and googled everything but nothing solid. Just lots of people saying it CAN affect it, I ovulated late which I’m contributing to having it

PenguinOnTheMoon · 05/01/2024 00:32

Thanks @Wonderpants3 , I'm trying not to sit and Google everything and end up down a rabbit hole already. Nothing we can do now but wait and see I guess, and rest up. Did it alter you following cycle at all?

Poppypear · 05/01/2024 10:41

My friend said it impacted her ovulation date when she was tracking. Hopefully will be okay for you though as i think it's different for different people

DaisyJones6 · 05/01/2024 11:49

Another negative this morning. Only 9dpo though.

@Ella31 Id love for the thread to continue!

So, this is only our third month of trying and I think if I don’t fall this time, that next month I need to get some opk tests - what does everyone use? I’ve only ever used the cheap Amazon sticks in the past.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 04/01/2024 18:32

When does everyone plan to test? What DPO? Anyone waiting to see if they miss their period before testing?

Whenever I have been ttc I have started testing at 7dpo, which is ridiculous! 🤣 With my daughter I did get my bfp at 9dpo and my son I was 12dpo.

HolyMoly24 · 05/01/2024 12:21

I'm using the clear blue pink opk's, the one that just gives you a static smiley on your peak day. I like these as there's no ambiguity over darkness of lines etc but they are pricey.

Although today I realised the ones I used were all out of date by about a year!!

Hopefully the result it gave me is still valid. It seemed to line up with my EWCM.

I've had to update my stock of ovulation sticks and tests today as realised they were all out of date from when we were going to try back in 2021 but changed our mind.

Lexie99 · 05/01/2024 12:28

@Ella31 I didn't know that! Thank you

DaisyJones6 · 05/01/2024 13:08

@HolyMoly24 Oh no! I had a bad batch once, never ever got a test line on them. So frustrating!

@DaisyJones6 Daisy, I use fermometer cheapies and advanced clearblue. I use the cheapies first and when the line gets darker, I introduce the clearblue.

I've been very successful with them. Got pregnant twice in a row using them. Femometer you can get on amazon and cost 14 euro for pack of 40 whereas its like 50 euro for 20 pack clearbkue advanced, hence why I introduce them once ferometer starts darkening.

Just to add for those who haven't used opk's before. Test in the afternoon, not fmu, it's not the same as pregnancy tests. Also hold off drinking or peeing for a few hours before hand. I usually test around lunch time.

MrsRandallFraser · 05/01/2024 13:57

@Ella31 do you use the pink or the purple clearblue ones? Think I might get some for next cycle

I used to use both and I was spending a fortune. I now only get the purple because it pin points your 4 most fertile days and I like how it goes from a flashing smiley to a static to confirm peak. Don't lose hope if it takes a few days to get static. I had this the month I conceived my twins. But my advise is , use a cheapie for the early days as these cost a bomb.

I saw your earlier post saying that - it's a great idea - thank you!

I feel like the OPK expert at this stage , but I swear by them and I've always had regular cycles but it's a great tool to have particularly if you are trying to conceive plus my poor husband was worn out prior to this 🤣🤣🤣 pin pointing days help

Hi ladies, hope you don’t mind if I join you. I’m 1DPO and honestly driving myself mad, I ovulated really late this month (due on on 11th Jan), first month using OPK so no idea if this is normal for me. Been suffering with really severe period type pain for the last three days which seems to be normal for me around the time of ovulation. Honestly though, how do you keep yourself occupied/distract yourself from thinking about pregnancy all the time?!

DaisyJones6 · 05/01/2024 16:38

Thanks @Ella31 I’ll definitely try that!

@Sarah452 Welcome x

Welcome @Sarah452 is it possible you didn't know you ovulated this late other months because you weren't tracking?

No advise for not going mad thinking about testing other than lock the tests away. It's so hard though, I'm a serial tester myself. I use one step cheapies to satisfy the urge to test. 50 for 6 euro on amazon and to be fair when I did test positive with my boys on a clearblue, they were positive too, just a fainter.

Wonderpants3 · 05/01/2024 19:31

@PenguinOnTheMoon I’m still in the cycle at the mo, hoping I’ll go straight back to normal next month

PenguinOnTheMoon · 05/01/2024 20:06

@Wonderpants3 fingers crossed for you 🤞

I'm in complete limbo land on whether I ovulated at all now, as today there's much more CM suggesting all our efforts the last week might have been too early despite the flashing and static smiley on the CB advanced :S So I'm either completely out or ovulation may be today or tomorrow, I just have no idea now 😕. COVID symptoms easing today finally, so I mean silver linings.

How's everyone doing that's at the too early to test stage? We're one day closer!

Bluebella27 · 05/01/2024 20:18

Hi everyone,
I'm currently 6 days DPO and honestly just feel so flat like it's not going to happen this month.. not really sure why I'm posting but nice to be amongst a supportive group who are going through the same thing ❤️ xx

PenguinOnTheMoon · 05/01/2024 20:58

What cycle are you on @Bluebella27? And It will happen, we just have to stay positive and keep busy I think at this time I think.

Bluebella27 · 05/01/2024 21:04

@PenguinOnTheMoon thank you ❤️ day 18 of my cycle 2nd cycle properly trying. It did take me 3 cycles to conceive before but I just feel old (35) this time and just meh.
Thank you for replying xx

PenguinOnTheMoon · 05/01/2024 22:09

Exactly what these groups are for, supporting each other and making that TWW a little easier hopefully!

I really don't think 35 trying for your second is old at all...at least that's my longer term plans if we're lucky enough to get our first fairly quickly (I'm 32 now).

I'm also CD18 too, and first cycle trying so still getting my head round it all and trying not to get too obsessive with any early symptoms should they appear (famous last words I'm sure!). When do you think you'll test?

DaisyJones6 · 05/01/2024 22:09

@Bluebella27 You’re not old at all lovely! 🥰 But I know what you mean, it’s hard not to feel negative about it all.
