So I have recently come off the mini pill, had my withdrawal bleed then 34 days and a period. I then had a 43 day cycle.

I did a test on the day AF came (before it came) and it was a very faint line but defo a line.

Any AF came and I assumed test must have been wrong, I had medium flow AF Monday and yesterday and very light today.

I did a test just now coz i have been feeling nauseous and just wanted to make sure any line has now gone.

Well there is still a line and it's stronger than Mondays test?

I've called the doctors who have said just test again in a week , but I'm very confused and just wondering if anyone else has had this and what was the outcome ?

Same happened to me except I didn't test because my period came when it was due and then 3 weeks later had symptoms and a very positive test. The period must have been very heavy implantation bleeding.

When I spoke to the community midwife team to book in they told me to ignore the last period as it was unlikely I'd be testing positive so early. They booked me in for a scan at 12 weeks (from the period before) and confirmed that I was 12 weeks. If I'd have been 8 they would have booked me in for a follow up scan 4 weeks later.

missdt89 · 13/12/2023 16:28

@SarahLHs ahhh wow how crazy! I suppose all I can do is keep testing and see if the line gets stronger for now and then go back to my GP of still testing positive?

I'm so confused by it as I've never had this before x

SarahLHs · 13/12/2023 21:15

Yes definitely do that. Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

missdt89 · 14/12/2023 09:16

Just an update from me, tested again this morning still positive , but there does not seem to be any progression. If anything I think todays test is fainter than yesterday.

If it is then perhaps I've miscarried?

Attached todays test and todays test (top) with yesterdays test (bottom)

@missdt89 you're unlikely to see a progression in one day (saying as someone who does it themselves!) So it's too early to say 😊 I know it's hard but hold off for a couple days if you can

CRbear · 14/12/2023 09:27

Could be a chemical, could have been heavy implantation bleeding.

Annoyingly all you can do is wait! And don’t compare tests day to day- that way madness lies. So much can impact it- hydration, how long you held etc.

Hope it goes the way you want!

EliflurtleAndTheInfiniteMadness · 14/12/2023 09:29

I understand seeking that progression for reassurance, but a pregnancy test being lighter than previously doesn't mean a miscarriage . Time of day and hydration plays a role too. I've never had implantation bleeding but I know several women who had very heavy period like bleeding. I had bright red bleeding but that was a couple weeks further along. That pregnancy is now my 11 year old. Bleeding doesn't necessarily mean a miscarriage and it's fairly common.

missdt89 · 14/12/2023 09:31

@ThelastRolo20 yes you are right , I'm just so confused by it , so I feel like I'm going crazy .

@CRbear I think likely a chemical , I would be shocked if it wasn't tbh as although the bleeding has now stopped (as suddenly as it started) it was too much like my normal AF . I am gonna try not to test for a few days it's just the not really knowing what's happening is making it so difficult but you are right in making it worse trying to compare tests on a daily basis!

I would love for it to be a sticky bean but ultimately I would just be pleased to know either way rather than being stuck in this limbo .

Xxx

@EliflurtleAndTheInfiniteMadness thank you for your reply , yea I've done a lot of reading the last 2 days and it seems to be fairly common , I just don't wanna get my hopes up in case it is the worst case.

I'm going to try hold off doing any more tests until next week , hopefully by then if it is a miscarriage I should be testing BFN.

This limbo is torture though

Xx

Just an update here - another positive test on a 25 MIU test so less sensitive.

Tomorrow is a week since I had what I thought was my AF

OP posts:
missdt89 · 18/12/2023 05:21

Update - this mornings test (FMU) still
Positive on less sensitive test.

This is now a week after the bleed started last week. I am going to contact my GP again today and see what they think I should do.

Would I be testing negative by now if it was a CP ? As it would have been a very early
Loss as I didn't even test positive until last Monday when I had the bleed which I thought was AF .

flowerchild2000 · 18/12/2023 05:26

It could be a chemical or implantation, I've had both happen! My last pregnancy I had a chemical just before, and then I was confused about the date on my pregnancy because the implantation bleeding could have been a period. It's so intense waiting for answers isn't it.

GreatGateauxsby · 18/12/2023 05:37

Honestly you just seem pregnant 🤷‍♀️
I know several people who bled fairly heavily through out healthy pregnancies.

If you take a clear blue, the kind that tells you "how pregnant" it might reassure/be helpful . For your dates it's about 3 weeks so should give 1-2 weeks or a 3 weeks plus

Depends where you are but my GP basically "don't care if your pregnant" and you just directly self refer to the maternity unit at the local hospital. You can do this online then they contact you with initial app at about 12 week mark

Any kind of viability scan is kind of pointless until about 6-7 weeks.
I was totally freaked out during my first pregnancy and went for one privately at around 7 weeks as I was convinced I had a blighted ovum 🤷‍♀️🙈 and they could see the heartbeat/fetal pole. My dd was basically a tiny dot that pulsed a bit.

The waiting is totally crap though... So sympathy on that front.

Sodapop1 · 18/12/2023 05:46

The line looks darker on your test this morning, I think you’re pregnant too. I bled quite a bit around the time my period was due, 1 day of normal flow then it quickly became a lot lighter so I did a test and I’m 23 weeks now. The doctor is unlikely to do much in my experience, in all the time I’ve been pregnant no medical professional has ever asked me to do a test they just take your word for it!

Olika · 18/12/2023 05:48

Perhaps it was heavier bleeding because you have recently stopped minipill. The line is definitely there.

Autumn1990 · 18/12/2023 06:05

It does look positive. I’d just wait and see how it goes. You can bleed quite heavily and frequently and still be pregnant.

missdt89 · 18/12/2023 07:28

Thank you everyone.

I think I feel slightly more reassured that it's still positive and darker I also definitely feel very "pregnant", I'm just guarding my heart I think just in case it's a CP. but yea the wait and the not knowing is making me so anxious it's horrible. Either way I would have retested after the bleed because of the nausea I have.

Yea I'm not sure my GP will do much either last week when this all started it was pretty much call back next week if still positive so il call them back today but as you say likely be told to self refer.

I do plan on having an early scan but I cant do that as you say for a couple more weeks yet !

My best friend bled throughout her pregnancy and had a healthy pregnancy, but I've just never had this before with my previous 2 . So it's totally freaked me out tbh !

Coming off the pill is also another factor for me as well , but I suppose just so many unknowns at the moment !

Just an update , spoke to my GP again he contacted the EPU who called me and have booked me in for a scan on Wednesday morning .

They have told me to keep testing until then and to let them know if the tests turn negative.

They have said any more
Bleeding or any pain I will need to go to a and e.

So I guess a couple more days of limbo and hopefully il have an answer either way.

At this point I'm preparing for the worst but hoping for the best . Just generally really nervous as to what the outcome will be . Xxxx

Olika · 18/12/2023 11:15

All the best for Wednesday!

missdt89 · 18/12/2023 15:20

Thank you , I'm not holding out much hope as had some spotting again this afternoon , nothing serious just there when I wiped when I went to the toilet and not bright red or anything

But still worrying , so just have to wait and see now.

OP posts:
Sodapop1 · 18/12/2023 19:25

Yeah I think all you can do is wait OP, I had spotting on and off for the first 6 weeks, the midwife said it still counted as implantation especially if it’s brown!

missdt89 · 18/12/2023 21:31

@Sodapop1 it's all so stressful , I have got x 2 other children and never had this with them . It's so confusing .

I've not had anymore since earlier and nothing in underwear.

But now of course I'm checking and my CM has been milky white but this evening I'm sure I've seen specks of pink in it 😫😫

I feel as if tomorrow is gonna be a long day Wednesday cannot come quick enough . I've prepared myself as mentally as possible for bad news so now all I can do is try hope for the best !

Thank you all so much for keeping me sane ! Xxxx

Update - this is todays digi test. There is no denying that result and feels a bit more reassuring. The result matches what I think my dates are .

Just gotta get through today !

OP posts:
Sodapop1 · 19/12/2023 07:28

Congratulations OP! Fingers crossed for you

missdt89 · 19/12/2023 07:44

@Sodapop1 thank you , I feel slightly happier now , but obviously I won't know for sure until tomorrow and even then as it's so early I think they will want to re scan to see progress as long as there isn't something obviously wrong.

In my head I think if the bleed I had last week was a loss then this test should have read 1-2. But maybe that's wishful thinking !
