How long did it take everyone to get pregnant & how often were you having sex? Everyone around me is either pregnant or got children already and I'm finding it difficult because it doesn't seem to be happening for us ☹️

I was desperate !!
3 months
then
9 months
good luck xx

Confusedddddddd · 09/12/2023 23:17

6 cycles at age 35
1 cycle at age 37 (but ectopic)
We're 5 cycles in now and still trying at age 38.

Confusedddddddd · 09/12/2023 23:19

As for how often every other day during fertile week (usually cd10-15), for the ectopic we only had sex once that entire month - just happened to be 3 days before ovulation

hopingforapeainapod · 09/12/2023 23:20

Been trying for a year. All tests and scans normal. It’s infuriating!

MrsSkylerWhite · 09/12/2023 23:21

three weeks, first time ( literally let’s have a baby. Ok) Nearly nine years the second.

Useruser1212 · 09/12/2023 23:23

Just over a year on my first baby and the first month on my second. Figure out when you ovulate and have sex every day (or at least every second day) for 10 days around that window. That's how I got pregnant so fast on my second!

toomanyleggings · 09/12/2023 23:25

Have you used those digital ovulation tests? I always found if I did it on the static smiley day and the day after I got pregnant. I had a lot of early miscarriages though so a whole different problem. Did manage two dds eventually but getting pregnant never an issue.

Cookie105 · 09/12/2023 23:28

I've been tracking my dates but haven't tried any ovulation tests so I'll try them next thanks all 🙂

We’ve been trying for over 2.5 years, I do have PCOS though so that has an affect on getting pregnant.

We’re pretty much about to start ivf so if I’m not pregnant this month we’re definitely going to have to go ahead😬

TwinkleStarrr · 09/12/2023 23:29

1st one : Cycle 5 at 35 years old, had the baby at 36
We are currently trying for a second one God willing, we are at cycle 6 now... and I am 38
Stressing a bit tbh.

Puddle13 · 09/12/2023 23:35

I’m 26 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I was off birth control for a year and we were properly tracking for 8 months. I felt so disheartened and actually had an appointment at a fertility clinic for the next month when I found out I was pregnant.

fridaynight1 · 09/12/2023 23:37

6 years for baby 1
2 years for baby 2
8 years for baby 3

Non of them were IVF, we just let nature decide and didn't make it a big thing. Counting days, tracking ovulation and endless pregnancy tests aren't going to get you pregnant - more likely it will just make you more stressed. I know it's not easy to be chilled about it but don't lose faith just yet.

Mardyybum · 09/12/2023 23:39

1st pregnancy - 15 months. Found out just under a year in that I wasn’t ovulating despite having periods. Was prescribed ovulation meds by fertility clinic and conceived on the first cycle. He is 3 in January.

2nd pregnancy - went straight in for the ovulation meds and conceived second cycle but miscarried

3rd pregnancy - conceived next cycle following miscarriage (again with the ovulation meds) DD is 3 months

Outliers · 09/12/2023 23:57

22 - first time (unwanted pregnancy).

28 - first try month after I got married. DC 18 months now.

30 - first try, currently 7 weeks with DC2.

Same partner for all pregnancies. I recognise how much of blessing this is now from being on this forum.

ttcin2022 · 10/12/2023 00:07

It took me 8 cycles to fall pregnant after coming off the pill at 32 years old.

mondaytosunday · 10/12/2023 00:25

Four months at age 40, similar at age 42. We just had sex regularly- not with any particular frequency or anything. I just wasn't using any birth control.

Bex4567 · 10/12/2023 00:29

Currently on month 5 now for baby 3...baby 1 first cycle baby 2 6 months

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 10/12/2023 03:23

After I started using ovulation sticks, it took 5 cycles.

The cycle we fell on we actually only dtd once in fertile time, 12 hours after I got peak.

It can take a healthy couple up to 12 months to conceive on average. There's something like a 30% chance of pregnancy each cycle, so a lot of ttc is just pure luck.

shockeddoesnntcutit · 10/12/2023 08:23

3.5 years! (39 months)
Pcos on my side, went through fertility treatment including 3 rounds of clomid increasing dosage each time.
Eventually got an IVF referral and found out I was pregnant 2 weeks before beginning treatment. Currently 22 weeks

rootsandwings89 · 10/12/2023 08:27

2 years first baby (finally conceived on 3rd round of clomid treatment)
3 weeks baby 2

Good luck OP, I know how hard it is when nothing seems to happen. Keep yourself busy with things you won't be able to do once baby is here (days out, theatre, cinema, restaurants, holidays)

If you have concerns speak to your GP. They will want to hear you've been TTC for a year before they'll make any referrals. Sending you baby dust ✨

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 10/12/2023 12:44

DD1 - 3 months, age 32. Think we did it 2/3 times in fertile window on that cycle.

DD2 - 3 months, age 36. Did sperm meets egg plan. So did it around 6/7 times in fertile window. Was the first month we tried that method and it worked straight away x

moosey89 · 10/12/2023 15:52

First pregnancy - 2.5 years (MMC at 11 weeks)
Second pregnancy with a different partner - 6 months (MMC at 10 weeks)
Now on to cycle 5 of trying again, no living children.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 10/12/2023 16:20

2 months.Weekends only as dh was working away mon-fri

MissBuffyAnneSummers · 10/12/2023 16:20

2 years and 3 rounds of clomid each time

veeolay · 10/12/2023 16:24

1 year (7 cycles as irregular) for DC1
1 year (8 cycles) for DC2

As for how often, we had sex once 2 days before ovulation for DC1 and had sex every day for a week during ovulation with DC2.
