Pregnancy symptoms after chemical pregnancy the month before

Hi all

I had a CP last month and have ovulated 3 days early this month (CD13) and am only 3dpo but feel like exactly I did at the start of the pregnancy last month (extremely sore boobs already, a bit burpy) so I was wondering, did anyone have the same or similar symptoms as their CP and go on to have a healthy pregnancy? I'm very aware of my body potentially playing tricks and hormones being weird from the past few weeks, and I know it would be too early for HCG to be rising.

Any personal experiences would be great! 🙏

I could have written this word for word myself so super interested to hear others experiences! Hope you get your BFP soon 😊

@Cherryade06 Sorry to hear you're in the same boat but also glad we're not alone in this! 💖

I am also on the same boat! Had a CP last month (3rd in a row) and didn't actually bleed after the CP last month? But I seem to have ovulated regardless and I'm currently 5DPO with super tender breasts that I never get and it keeps making me think I am pregnant. I probably won't be but would also love to hear if anyone else had the same thing and was pregnant?

The only thing I can think of is for all my CPs I had cramps 5/6DPO and loss of appetite from around 7-8DPO. So far none of that for me yet just sore boobs

Seryse · 19/09/2023 14:29

I had a chemical when my son was 4 months old (NOT planned, we had sex once since the c section and I was on the fucking pill 😅) didn't really even have a proper period, just some mild spitting and the boobs popped up again so took a test and..... she's 14 weeks old now and currently shouting and gnawing angrily on her fist 🤣🤣

J3llycat · 19/09/2023 16:34

@LacedBouquet so sorry to hear! Are you letting the GP know with each one you've had? I've seen that it's encouraged to for health record purposes to then push for referrals. Fingers crossed for you that it's good news this month! It will be good to know if those who had a healthy conception the month after a CP had any different symptoms or any of the same. I had basically the same symptoms as you, with nausea added in from 9ish dpo, as well as my face burning which I also have this month 😳

@Seryse That's crazy! Glad it all worked out for you in the end!

@J3llycat I may be in the same boat, although I am not sure. I’ve only been tracking a couple of months so I’ve tested throughout my cycles to experiment and see how the tests change throughout my cycles. Sorry for the long post but wanted to share my experience…

last cycle I had a vvfl on easy@home hcg around 8dpo, I thought maybe it’s the start of a BFP so continued testing (I got a box full of easy@home tests so I’ve got them to waste 🙈). Anyway, I continued testing and continued seeing faint lines. Then I seen threads and reviews saying these tests give false positives so I tried boots 5 days early tests and again had faint lines on about 6 boots tests. I’ve never had even a hint of a line on boots tests, even after they’ve dried, so I considered the boots tests as quite reliable. I also had positive opks during this time too, which I have read can happen if there is hcg in your system.

The lines did not get darker and AF arrived right on time (day 28) so I was left unsure if it was a chemical or false positives. Because I was unsure, I decided to carry on testing with both opk and easy@home hcg with the aim being to see if the pregnancy tests ever had a faint lines at a time when I knew for sure I was not pregnant (during af and between af and ovulation). Both hcg and opks were negative during AF and for a few days after.

CD8-CD11 of this cycle, I had positive opks with peak being CD8. According to Premom I ovulated CD9 instead of CD14! HCG tests were all negative at this point, not even a hint of a line. So I started reading through posts and noticed that there was a few people saying they ovulated early after a chemical, I’ve also seen people say they had 2 opk peaks With the second being the true peak. So I have continued testing opks daily to see if I have a second peak because I am finding it difficult to believe I have ovulated on CD9. So far they have been complete negative since CD11.

I am now on CD13 and potentially 4dpo. I have just tested again and opk has gone dark again, although not quite positive, and hcg has a faint line!! There’s no way I’d get a bfp at 4dpo, I only testing to confirm reliability of the tests.

So in conclusion, the outcome of my experiment has resulted in me being as equally baffled as I was to begin with. 😑

Pic of the row of easy@home hcg were some of the faint lines from last cycle.

Pic of the test on its own is one of the boots tests from last cycle. (The photo was taken once it had dried but the line appeared within 5 minutes of taking the test)

pic of the hcg and opk are from today.

sorry I could not help in any way to your post but I might be in the same boat and around the same dpo so thought I would chip in and share the journey.

@Seryse thank you so much 💖

@Dan521 yep I'd definitely say that was a CP given you did the other tests and they were faint too 😩💖 this month I'm not going to test until AF is due (unless it comes before) as I found although it was super interesting and exciting testing early and seeing shadows develop, it turned into utter heartache and stress. Definitely determined to protect myself this month!! That's interesting there's a faint line for hcg, was this within the testing time frame? I think the control for LH looks ever so slightly darker although it seems you still have a fair amount! Definitely keep an eye on it! Do you track BBT? Xx

Dan521 · 20/09/2023 08:34

@J3llycat I’m kind of hoping it was a cp because that means my eggs and OHs sperm is working. I wish I could have had it properly confirmed with a blood test or something but I didn’t.

i have just had a very positive opk this morning which is cd14 and round about the right time to ovulate. I must have just had a random surge earlier in the month and can now confirm easy@home hcg give false positives 🙈 I’m planning to use different tests when af is due, these ones come with the ovulation tests so I’ve been testing out of curiosity to see if they give false positives after how many lines I had last month.

I tried bbt but I kept forgetting to do it as soon as I woke up, my results were all over the place so I give up. I’ve used preseed this month and a cup to keep the goods in.

I have read that a lot of people got their bfp the cycle after a chemical, fingers crossed for you. keep us updated xx

I’ve had 9 chemicals in total and 1 healthy preg and I’m now 6 weeks! I can tell you now, symptom spotting is a complete waste of time. With every chemical I had exact same early symptoms as with successful pg and this time round I’ve not one symptom except a little bit of heartburn. There’s no rhyme or reason so I’d encourage everyone to not rely too heavily on symptoms one way or the other.

LacedBouquet · 20/09/2023 17:19

@LenaJ Congrats on your pregnancy! Did you ever get tested for recurrent chemical and did you ever do anything different for the ones that stuck?

J3llycat · 20/09/2023 23:13

@Dan521 wow! Yes I did read that surges were quite common after a CP, looks like a positive now! Agreed Bbt tracking is not for most people. Keep us updated 🤞🏼xx

J3llycat · 20/09/2023 23:16

@LenaJ congratulations! And thank you so much for sharing your experience, that is oddly comforting to just go with the flow. It's so hard not to symptom spot but definitely a good idea as its not reliable! I was wondering the same as @LacedBouquet above 😊

LacedBouquet · 21/09/2023 14:11

@J3llycat I missed your tag above! I let the GP know after the third so they got me in for blood tests (6 vials!!) and have referred me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic :)
Currently 7dpo but not expecting much. Had a bit of cramping yesterday at 6dpo x

J3llycat · 21/09/2023 14:44

@LacedBouquet thats great! Glad you're being thoroughly checked out that's a relief. Fingers crossed for this month! I'm a day behind you, feeling quite rough but think it's just a fluke x 🌻

I did get tested and everything came back normal but I asked for a copy of my results and going through everything myself I noted my vitamin d was a touch low for women trying to get pregnant so I started taking a really high dose and completely cut out caffeine! This time round I took proceive max (being 40) and kept off caffeine and so far everything seems to be going well! Sometimes i think it’s just down to egg quality so I’d say get on CoQ10 and omega oils to really get your egg quality up and get a really good quality conception vitamin…I think pregnacare is useless of you have underlying deficiency somewhere. Also get your doc to 100% prescribe daily progesterone suppositories as that plays big part and I’m in them now

LenaJ · 22/09/2023 17:01

@J3llycat snd @LacedBouquet sorry forgot to tag you both in answer above!

Dan521 · 22/09/2023 18:11

I’ve ended up getting the darkest positive opk I’ve ever had on CD14 and then loads of EWCM and really bad cramping today on CD16. So my positive opks on CD8/9 must have not resulted in ovulation. I was hoping I’d be a week post ovulation by now but I’m back to the beginning of the tww 😑 feel like I was about to pass go on Monopoly and collect my £200 but ended up going to jail instead 😂

J3llycat · 23/09/2023 09:19

@LenaJ thats really interesting, thank you so much for updating! Glad it's all going well, sounds like you've got all the bases covered 😊

J3llycat · 23/09/2023 09:22

@Dan521 ohhh that's so annoying! Sounds like it's just going to be one of those haywire months 😩 hope you're okay in yourself! These things are so draining. I'm 8dpo today and my sore boobs are honestly worst than last month but my temps aren't very high like last month, think it's just hormones settling back into things. 😅

OP posts:
J3llycat · 23/09/2023 09:25

@LacedBouquet how are you getting on? 😊

OP posts:
Dan521 · 23/09/2023 10:51

I’ve still been continuing to test both opks and been using up all my hcgs along side them. Had positive opks around CD14, they then went light again and are now back to positive on CD17. These are this mornings results….

im in disbelief how bad easy@home are for false positives. I’m just using them up out of interest, I’d never use them to confirm pregnancy.
