Hi all I'm just wondering if anyone can help me . So I'm cycles are a bit all over the place they range from 28 / 32 days . Some months there like clock work and every 29 days then others I'm out by a few days
So this month me and my partner have both decided to track my ovulation as we've been trying for a while now and still nothing has happened .... So I'm new to this so if anyone has some advice please help a lady out. Also I've attached my tests . Does this look normal and when will I start to see dark lines ?
Thabkyou for taking your time to read x

As your cycle can vary up to 32 days you may not get a positive until around CD16/17.

My cycle days were similar more 31/32 but sometimes 28. When I was tracking I had a positive anywhere between CD12 and CD16/17. Sometimes I would get one quick positive and other months I had very strong lines for three days x

Thankyou for replying to me , I've been trying to find others with longer cycles and had no luck , that's really good to know , also would it be a good idea to test during the day/night so test twice a day ? Feeling so disheartened not seeing bright lines , I'm also trying macaroot this month aswell x

Hey there. Yes, those look normal to me. Everyone's range is different, some peoples LH will gradually increase and others will just surge. I have a 28-30 day cycle also and I usually surge. Around day 13 or 14 I usually increase to 0.3ish and then within 24 hours I peak above 1.
It's still early in your cycle, I would expect you to have a peak in the next 3 - 4 days but some people peak later in their cycle so you should keep testing for another few days.

Amy95 · 15/05/2023 08:28

Hi , thankyou for replying , I'm so glad I'm not the only one with later cycles , so I had to write on here because I feel useless not knowing what's going on , would you recommend any brand of ovulation tests ? x

I usually use the Boots own brand but this month I bought a huge pack of easy at home ones from Amazon as they're cheaper! I used VUE once and they were shocking.

Amy95 · 15/05/2023 08:39

I've had some given to me from a friend she said they were good , also got pre mom ones from Amazon because I've heard all good reviews , how long have you been trying if you don't mind me asking , feels nice to have someone going through the same thing x

I have been actively trying since July 2022, with 2 miscarriages since so technically not alot of cycles when you take out the months I was pregnant and I tend not to ovulate the month after a loss. There's lots of threads for people TTC in certain months, so maybe join one of those threads as you'll build some mini friendships with people in the same stage as you.

Amy95 · 15/05/2023 09:38

Oh I'm sorry about the miscarriages😔 yes I'm going to have a look and see if I can join one x

I'm exactly the same as you, vary between 28-32 days but more commonly 32 days. I've never taken an ovulation test but I have ovulation signs quite late usually like days 19-21. Only been trying since start of the year so not long.

Amy95 · 15/05/2023 09:53

Hiya , oh are they , it's hard when there all over the place so we've decided to track so we know when to bd , oh that's not to long and my partner been trying for about 2 years on and off 😔 but back on more positive this time 🤞and just want to know where I am with my cycle . So where are you in your cycle ?xx

I used the easy at home strips and tested twice a day. If I hadn't have done that I would have missed my peak the month I actually got pregnant as I had one very strong test in the morning and by the evening of same day it had started to drop down x

Amy95 · 15/05/2023 10:33

Aw right I get you so il start testing morning and night now so I know I can't miss it then. Thankyou for helping only if it was that easy to catch x

Day 28 today! Never sure whether to bother testing at this point. Decided to give it 6 months before starting properly tracking / testing to try and keep from getting too obsessed 🙂

Amy95 · 15/05/2023 11:44

@Tryingtoconceivenumber2 I don't really mind peeong on sticks cause you get to see 2 lines that makes me happy for some reason 😂x

lovo97 · 15/05/2023 13:33

These are my tests - from what I've read you either surge quickly (in a day) or there's a steady build up over a period of 6 days!

Hi! Also wanted to say that my cycles tend to be 28-30 days. Last month I randomly had a 34 day cycle and didn’t ovulate until day 21. This month I ovulated early on day 13. Usually I ovulate around day 16/17. What’s helped me is not testing with first morning urine. Testing twice a day so maybe 11 ish and 3 ish. I have quick surges so I kept missing it for the first few months. Hope that helps!

Amy95 · 15/05/2023 18:30

Hi @Bluebell0921 that's so crazy my last cycle was 37 days , I've never tracked my ovulation so all new to this , I've been taking it in morning , but heard you shouldn't do that , I'm a big water drinker so by the afternoon I'm worried my levels will be so low ? Is that true like would I be diluting it ? X

OP posts:
Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 15/05/2023 18:35

The easy at home instructions do say not to drink too much in the 2 to 3 hours before I think x

Amy95 · 15/05/2023 18:39

That's what I'm going try to do so what time would you say is best to take them about 6/7 ? Cause I can hold off drinking water to test then , I'm terrible for drinking water throughout the days 😂 x

Bluebell0921 · 15/05/2023 18:40

It’s fascinating once you start to understand your cycle more. The period between ovulation and period (luteal phase) tends to be pretty consistent. So if your period cycle is shorter/longer one month then that usually means that your ovulation has been earlier/later. Cycles that fluctuate 7 days are still considered regular so it’s pretty normal/common.

Yes I also heard that first morning urine is not good which goes against when you test for pregnancy. I have noticed that I tend to get a stronger line in the afternoon. Worth testing twice a day as if you have a quick surge you can miss it easily. I’ve attached mine for this month, you can see it just shot up. I forgot to test the next day so have no idea how long the surge lasted but you can see how it can be easily missed. I think drinking a lot of water can affect results. I think instructions usually suggest a 2 hour hold of urine before you do it. Once you’ve caught it for a few months though you start to get into a routine and it’s easier to catch it.

Yes I want to be more in tune with my body my cycles are all over the place , I definitely will slow down with the water , see it's so good having women supporting others thankyou for helping me , I'm totally lost with tracking , omggg look at them lines I'm so excited for this x

@Amy95 youll get there lovely. You’re still early in your cycle, your surge may be in a few days time. Honestly, I had no idea about any of this when I started and was panicking that I wasn’t ovulating but I’m much more confident now, it’s like going back to a level biology haha! People on mumsnet have really helped me too 🥰
