I tried to sway girl and it worked!

I know gender swaying is so controversial but I’m purely posting this here for anyone who (like me last year) doesn’t know much about it and might want to give it a go. It’s just a bit of fun and doesn’t guarantee anything. Ultimately a healthy baby is all anyone wants, please scroll past if this is triggering in anyway to you.

We have a little boy already, who was conceived on ovulation day. I didn’t know anything about gender swaying at the time but according to the shettles/baby dust methods this would be likely to sway boy. This time we thought it might be nice to sway our odds the other way although would have been lovely to have either (and will hopefully have three kids so would be delighted regardless).

We tried for three months with a 2-3 day ‘cut off’ as the baby dust method suggests. So you have sex 2 or 3 days before ovulation, just one attempt on one day then stop. Clearly after 3 months this wasn’t working and the baby dust method suggests then going closer to ovulation but instead I decided to do a bit of the shettles method and try every day in row then stop and have the same 2 and a half day cut off. So we ‘tried’ three nights in a row then stopped.

It worked! I’ve had it confirmed this week, it’s a girl! 💕 Has anyone else tried it? Did it work for you?

Obviously there is nothing in this, all fertility clinics would otherwise only ever produce boys

oranga · 07/03/2023 22:57

I'm pleased you got the outcome you wanted OP but this does just sound nonsense.

LadyGAgain · 07/03/2023 23:11

Congrats that you have what you wanted but this defies biology and is utter nonsense!

Dudum · 07/03/2023 23:19

Total garbage 🤣

whatyoulookingfor · 07/03/2023 23:47

Gender is a social construct. How do you know what gender your child identifies as?

Also, this is nonsense. In case I wasn't clear!

SwordToFlamethrower · 08/03/2023 09:08

You just had a 50/50 chance. The sperm finds the egg and the sperm is either female or male. You have absolutely no way to influence this. None.

That is like saying a woman can choose if and when we can get pregnant, which we can't. American law makers try to justify forcing women who have been raped and became pregnant to keep their pregnancies on the grounds we "wanted" it.

Please don't validate this because it hurts all women.

carriedout · 08/03/2023 09:12

This is medieval nonsense Grin

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 08/03/2023 09:14

No you had a 50/50 chance. Don't sprout a load of rubbish. 😂

RudsyFarmer · 08/03/2023 09:15

You basically conceived a girl. Congratulations.

Palmfrond · 08/03/2023 09:23

Goodness me, what utter bullshit!
You only produce X chromosome gametes.
Nothing you do can change that.
The sex of the embryo is determined by the chromosome contained within the male gamete.

SnowLemons · 08/03/2023 09:24

Nah sorry I think it was just chance.

Glad you got a girl though as sounds like if it were a boy you'd not be as happy

Palmfrond · 08/03/2023 09:25

Sorry, correction; you only *have X chromosome gametes.

THIS

Moonicorn · 08/03/2023 09:25

I had a girl and am now pregnant with a boy. No swaying! It’s 50/50 each time 🤷🏼‍♀️ So your odds of a girl were good anyway.

Katiex84x · 08/03/2023 09:28

Wow the comments 😂
Honestly some of the people on here are so rude.
If you don’t agree with a post, pour yourself a cup of tea, scroll past, have a lovely day.
May have worked, may not have worked, either way it doesn’t affect your lives so just get on with your day.
Congratulations OP 💗

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 08/03/2023 09:30

Happy for you but don't get your hopes up too much. I was told at gender scan I was having a girl and gave birth to a baby boy!

AllOfThemWitches · 08/03/2023 09:32

Can't be 'confirmed' until you actually give birth.

It literally cannot possibly have worked!

I’m very happy for OP, and she did state that it’s in the spirit of fun, so, okay, but it is absolute nonsense. And I may be wrong, but I’m guessing whoever came up with it is somehow turning a buck?

It's not sbout agreeing or disagreeing, it's about the potential negative impact this sort of view brings.
Many women already feel overwhelming responsibility for getting pregnant, keeping that pregnancy, having a healthy pregnancy and and a healthy baby. And along with that responsibility can come horrendous guilt when those things don't work out.
Suggesting that we also can be knowingly responsible for determining the sex of a potential baby simply adds more potential grief.
It's an ill informed post that can add unwarranted distress, not hope.

BelindaBears · 08/03/2023 09:42

It’s not controversial, it’s just not a real thing. Congratulations that something which had a 50/50 chance of happening happened.

TheLastChance1 · 08/03/2023 09:45

I'll be honest I don't believe in it but I did want one of each (wasn't too bothered really) and tried the "girl" method similar to you and did have a girl but knew it was 50/50 but just thought it'd be fun to try.

Congratulations x

ZeroFuchsGiven · 08/03/2023 09:46

Oh Dear 😂

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

RoseApothacary · 08/03/2023 09:49

If this worked then surely boy/girl twins would be impossible.

newtb · 08/03/2023 10:04

Many many years ago, either 60s or 70s, there was an article in Readers' Digest about this, saying the sex of a baby could be influenced by vaginal pH hence suggesting douching with bicarb or, presumanly, something like vinegar. Can't remember. The method was proved to work. Apparently.

I ovulated 2 days before I conceived. Had a girl.

Go figure.

My friends mum put lemon juice in her vagina as she read it killed male sperm - she got a girl but can't imagine it was pleasant Grin
