TTC - 7 months after miscarriage - am I ovulating/do I have a short leutal phase?

wudluv2beamum · 28/02/2023 09:43

Hi everyone!

This is my first post so I am a little nervous as I am usually the girl watching all the threads but here goes!!

My husband and I conceived our first month of trying last May and very sadly had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks....which was devastating! I had a D&C and we started TTC a month after the miscarriage. It has been 7 months now and we are still not pregnant! 3 months ago I have started accupucture to help fertility and relax me and it did bring forward my ovulation to day 16 for the last 3 months however it has now dropped back to day 20/21 - the same as before my miscarriage. I usually have a leutal phase of 11 days.

I wondered if anyone else has had a miscarriage and not conceived quickly? And I wondered if an 11 day leutal phase is too short and whether I am ovulating properly if the days keep changing? I have attached my Natural Cycles charts for the last 5 months to help (dates at the top of charts!). I am worried I have low progesterone too!

Would appreciate any discussion on this as finding it all very overwhelming and hard at the minute!

Thanks x

Hey! Clicked your thread randomly and we've really similar experience...

Me and OH also fell pregnant in May last year, two weeks after i stopped my pill so technically wasn't 'trying' yet but was over the moon it happened so quick. We then also had MC around but around 8/9 weeks, didn't need D&C but after bleeding stopped my cycles returned back to normal right away.. it's now been 7/8 months and nothing! This cycle and the cycle before was my first tracking with OPK on Premom and my ovulation day last month was CD13 but this month CD15 not as late as yours but i did panic thinking it wasn't going to happen! Anyone i know that has been through MC/the same all seem to have been pregnant again within 3 months so its been really hard for nothing to happen for us yet, plus you have probably been the same and the pressure of falling/being pregnant before due date arrived was subconsciously stressing me out and really disheartened and emotional every month with BFN or AF arriving.

I think its ok for ovulation day to change and leutal phase seems to be classed as healthy 10 - 17 days! So you could be overthinking it (i do it all the time).

Have you started you and your husband on any vitamins/supplements or tried anything else? We both started taking Cod Liver Oil, CoQ10 & Vitamin D3 and i take Active Folic.. this month we also used Preseed for the first time as i kept seeing people saying 'dont know if it was a coincidence but use preseed this time' I'm currently 10DPO and AF is due Friday/Saturday so will keep you updated if any of that worked!

If you're not already i would get the Easy@Home ovulation strips and download the Premom app to track LH levels along side your Natural Cycles because on ovulation day your temperature dips then day after rises and on your chart it looks like that may happen before what Natural cycles has predicted although it does look like you are DTD enough to cover lol!

Sorry for essay xx

wudluv2beamum · 28/02/2023 10:56

@TTCRainbow thank you so much for randomly clicking on this thread...and the essay is very much welcomed!!!

our stories are so similar - it feels comforting not being the only one going through this! All my best friends are now pregnant and if they have sadly had a miscarriage they have conceived very quickly afterwards which is magical for them but it does make it harder to get your head around why it isnt happening doesnt it?

Yeah I keep reading differernt things on leutal phase length and sometimes it says 12-17 days or 10-17 so hopefully I am am okay or just on the cusp of being okay on that front anway!

So we are on supplements - I am on the Zita West ones (almost bankrupting me!) and husband is on proceive! We have used some conceive plus this month and previous months but is pre-seed meant to be better? will certainly give it a go if it is :)

Have you been to the doctor and asked for bloods or anything or still at the trying naturally and waiting until the 1 year of trying stage?

Honestly the due date and not being pregnant on that due date has been the hardest thing about the last 7 months and I am so sorry you are going through the same - I am sending only positive vibes your way!! xxx

Hey I just wanted to add I have similar stories to both of you too so definitely not alone. I caught second month last year in February but had a mmc at 8/9 weeks in April too. I also have not caught again yet and have a luteal phase of 11/12 days as well. It’s really hard as everyone says you’re more fertile after a mc but that just hasn’t been the case for me. It’s heartbreaking every month but trying to be positive and hope it will happen.

wudluv2beamum · 28/02/2023 11:05

Hi @Annapolis35 thanks so much for your message and so sorry to hear you are also struggling to conceive after a mmc. It is so hard and such a tough thing to go through that the thought of a rainbow baby really takes up a lot of headspace. Have you had any chats with doctors/bloods etc? Sending you love x

Annapolis35 · 28/02/2023 11:30

Hey @wudluv2beamum same to you. It’s a tough thing to go through. I had day 21 progesterone tests which came back as good so that’s not a problem. I need to get my oh booked in for a sperm test and we likely have to go private for that as the local hospital is not doing it… so need to get that sorted soon really. Have you had any? I think I may see if I can get day 3 tests done too.

Annapolis35 · 28/02/2023 11:31

Sorry also the doctor said it’s quite normal for it to take a year to conceive and said as we conceived before didn’t think there were any problems. Hard though as it’s been so long now.

wudluv2beamum · 28/02/2023 11:45

@Annapolis35 thats great you have already had some tests! what level was your 21 progesterone at? Gosh there are so many things to look into arent there it really is quite a wild ride! My husband went for the sperm analysis and all came back okay so fingers crossed it stays that way - but a great thing for you to get your husband to look into too....helps with the peace of mind I think? Do you track your BBT? xx

OP posts:
Annapolis35 · 28/02/2023 12:11

the number was 43.4 and I believe anything over 30 indicates ovulation so that is a good result. Yes definitely! I need to get the sperm test booked ASAP really so will look into that today.

I have an Apple Watch so i have started seeing the wrist temp (which is supposed to be similar to bbt) and this month has been odd but only had it a couple of months so not sure really what to expect. I stopped trying to track as it got a bit stressful and my oh found it hard “performing” so we just try to dtd regularly over a longer period of time and to take the pressure off. I’m pretty sure it means I’ve prob missed o sometimes as the date varies like yours.

Have you found bbt helpful? It helps me to see when I ovulated after the fact but I am not sure what to look for in the 2ww? This month it’s barely risen at all and last month it was a much more gradual but noticeable increase (I think we are out as had to stop dtd as had a medical procedure) Xxx

wudluv2beamum · 28/02/2023 14:03

@Annapolis35 Yes that really is great news - something to not worry about knowing you did ovulate :) !!

Thats so great the Apple watch does your BBT - I may have to look into that as taking my temp every day at 6am is getting a bit tiresome...especially on months where I dont think I am ovulating like this month! there is so much pressure on it so not doing it to help your OH is a good idea and lovely team work!

Do you mind me asking how old you are? I am 33.5yrs so have the worry of it not going my way in the next year or two and then things potentially getting trickier (although read soooo many positive stories of ladies in later 30's conceiving etc :)!)

I did find BBT helpful to show me that I was ovulating, but like you say its after the fact! Have you done OPK tests? I was doing those and they seemed to work and coincide with the BBT charting but the last month or two I have had two LH surges each month and they dont seem to correlate with when I ovulate (if i do!)

Why is this all so stressful!?!? Sending you magical baby dust!! xx

@wudluv2beamum its so hard to see others have such a smooth journey or quickly conceive after and wonder why it cant be like that for us :(

Some can be quite expensive cant they, our coQ10 was most expensive for us but i've heard really good things! We only started beginning of January so i knew Jan-Feb trying might not had affect yet but Feb-March cycle which i am on now i would hope they've kicked in!

I've not yet been to the doctors, i was going to call before this cycle but i thought i would give it one more and if not get seen at my doctors in case of a hormone imbalance vitamin deficiency or something else, i wouldn't wait a until year mark as having MC makes you feel like something is wrong with you :(

I'm sorry you are too, as horrible as it is other people going through the same its really nice to have people to talk to who actually understand. I get so frustrated with the stupid comments people make.

We will get our little rainbows!! Sending love and baby dust to you xxx

Annapolis35 · 28/02/2023 14:47

@wudluv2beamum i am 35 so also feeling the fear about age. I started trying when i was 34 so it’s feeling like a long time now. I am just trying not to think about that as I get a bit overwhelmed and panic.

I don’t use opks as it made my husband anxious hearing I was peak fertile haha. I did used to use the clear blue ones with the flashing face. I think that can happen, having a couple of surges - your bbt reflects ovulation though right? And I think sometimes you can have a lh surge then ovulate a few days later, does that sound about right?

yes I couldn’t cope with getting up at a specific time for bbt! I like my lie ins on a weekend. I think the Apple Watch gets my o date right ish, with about a day either side. I input the data into fertility friend and it has calculated it as a day before apple. I figure that’s ok and as long as we dtd over a long period should cover either day.

I do wish this was all easier. And we didn’t have to think about it in the manner we do. Sending much love xx

TTCRainbow · 01/03/2023 11:01

@wudluv2beamum hey! Hope you are ok ❤I tested last night (10DP) and this morning (11DPO) and…. Positive 🥺🌈👶🏼

After 7/8 months of trying the first month we use preseed and second month of vitamins we did it 🥺 I know a long anxious road ahead now but I just wanted to update you and that what we did this month must have worked 🙏🏼 xxx

@wudluv2beamum thank you so much ❤Defo get on the preseed!! What stage are you at now are you in the TWW or in a new cycle? We only used it twice but both times i used the applicator (your know what i mean when you buy it lol)

I will try not too be, good vibes only for both of us, rainbows all around xxxx

wudluv2beamum · 01/03/2023 14:13

@TTCRainbow so pleased for you!! Preseed has been ordered 😂! I am currently on CD20 but have not yet ovulated....have had lots of EWCM a few days ago but no ovulation yet 🙄- it was CD16 for 3 months and then last month CD20 so I have no idea what is going on and a bit worried I wont ovulate this month and will be out!! For the past 7/8months since your mmc had you been timing all your intercourse etc? I just cant understand what is going on with my cycle/body but your lovely story has given me LOTS of hope!!!! xxxxxx

OP posts:
TTCRainbow · 01/03/2023 15:21

@wudluv2beamum Yaaaay, honestly i saw so many people saying with their BFP 'dont know if its a coincidence but was first time using preseed'... so at this point i thought well i will give anything a go.. and well here we are!

Are you tracking LH surge as well as your BBT? I did ovulate later than the month previous but we just started DTD every other day until LH surge and BBT dip then use preseed on that day and day after and tbh im still in shock now.

I had been logging all our DTD days on Flo App and just relying on what it said my ovulation was then a friend said to get the easy@home tests and log on Premom app so i did and released some of the months previous we would have been completely off but... there would have been months where we was bang on and still didn't conceive so i 100% believe the vitamins we've been taking and preseed helped!

This is why these forums/chats are so good, our journeys are so similar and i just know it was fate me clicking and replying and you'll get your BFP so soon xxxx

@wudluv2beamum omg amazing news!! congratulations!! I'm feeling exactly the same, i was feeling very un-pregnant and no symptoms until around 5 1/2 weeks now i am 6 weeks 3 days and the morning sickness/nausea has kicked in which i am hoping is a good sign 🙏We have a private scan booked for Saturday for 7 weeks to make sure everything is in right place and ok, really hoping and praying everything is. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy, i am so happy for you 🌈❤

wudluv2beamum · 21/03/2023 14:26

💞Thank yoiu!! Yes I dont feel very pregnant at all although I have been having a bad stomach (TMI) and some cramps which has been stressing me out! The doctor didnt seem too worried but its so hard not to overthink everything isn't it? The sickness/nausea is definitely a positive sign and I get only positive vibes from and for you!!😍I am hoping I start to feel pregnant soon as hoping that will get rid of some of the nerves!! Have you had any other symptoms? I can't remember - do you take your temperature? If you do, are you continuing to do so now you've had your magical BFP?! Gosh wishing you the happiest and healthiest pregnancy - we have have got this!!💪 xx

OP posts:
TTCRainbow · 21/03/2023 16:34

I always get bad stomach too! Everyone else seems to be constipated but i get the opposite! lmao I would say symptoms for me have been 4-5 weeks extremely tired, couldnt stay awake pass 8pm, needing to pee ALOT and bloated then 5-6 weeks still very tired, boobs slightly bigger but not sore and started feeling nauseous and then 6 weeks hit and i'm sick (saliva/bile) first thing in the morning and then i feel nauseous alllll day, boobs bigger now and hurt on the sides and occasionally i get cramps but everything else has sort of gone. I would also have days during that time where i would feel absolutely nothing and worry something was wrong😩I stopped taking my temperature as soon as we got BFP or i knew i would drive myself mad with it. I also was taking pregnancy tests every day until i was 5 weeks and got my 3+ with CBD test. When will you be due going by first day of last period? We should be due 11th November! I had to self refer myself as doctors would see me but got call from midwife quite quick and have our first appointment 10th April and 12 week can is booked for 2nd May.. Just keep trying to say to myself, this is our turn now and like you said we have got this 🙌xxx

wudluv2beamum · 22/03/2023 09:12

Oh I am pleased I am not the only one with the bad stomach.....gosh hormones are such a funny thing arent they! So I think I am between 4 and 5 weeks now and definitely feel exhausted....I am barely doing anything and get woken up every night on the sofa by husband saying I've been asleep for ages ha 😆!! Yeah I keep worrying about not feeling 'pregnant enough' as I remember last time I had a feeling when we lost our last baby because I stopped feeling sick and it really worried me and then our worst nightmares came true following that! Fingers crossed for this time - I am the same as you I keep thinking its our turn and something has to go right after a year of heartache - I really think the fact we have both found each other on here is a good sign🙌💕 (honestly since our miscarriage I have become a lot more hippy haha!)! Did your final 3+ CBD show up on the day you expected i.e. was it pretty accurate with what you thought? I am doing the same - constantly testing and worrying myself the line is getting lighter but I am going to do another CBD this weekend and hopefully it will show 3+ as last weekends was 2-3 weeks!! I think we would be due 21st November based on my last period but I definitely ovulated later so I think more like 27th November!! I really dont know how I am going to wile away the next 7/8 weeks - it feels like a lifetime until the 12 week mark!! Lots of love xxxx

OP posts:
TTCRainbow · 22/03/2023 14:10

@wudluv2beamum That's how i was! It's crazy how tired we get. Aww that was same as me last time, i didn't get sickness but any symptoms i had (mainly boobs) completely went. So although i am very much not enjoying feeling like this i'm hoping its all good and baby is ok. My 3+ showed up quite quick, i didnt wait a whole week i think it was 3 days later! I just felt everything ramp up and was impatient to wait so did it and there it was :) Aww i love that we both are due November babies!! I'm finding hard waiting until 7 weeks for scan let alone 12 weeks 😂I just want to see that little heartbeat and i know the worry wont go away but it would be a step further than last time xxx

wudluv2beamum · 29/03/2023 10:05

@TTCRainbow how did you scan go?! hope everything was just as you wanted and you saw a little heartbeat!! I am only 5.5weeks and already feel like my boobs dont hurt as much today and dont feel quite as nauseous or tired - so I am a little worried!! So hard not to read into every little thing isnt it!!! Anyway I hope Saturday went really well for you both xxx

OP posts:
TTCRainbow · 29/03/2023 10:27

@wudluv2beamum Hey! Scan went really well, i was exactly spot on with my dates (7 weeks) and little heartbeat beating really strong! We didn't get to hear it but we brought the extra photos and video of it which i watch every day 😂Don't panic! I felt like that around then and had a meltdown and was really anxious but everything was fine.. my boobs only have just starting hurting and i would say only my nipples not my boobs and only other symptom was tiredness butttt i have now got the worst morning (all day everyday) sickness. I'm really hoping it it good signs and goes after the first trimester because i am really struggling 😫The tiredness and boobs etc have definitely come and go, if i didn't have the sickness I would have days where i don't feel pregnant at all!

Do you think you will book an early private scan or wait for you NHS 12 week? Our 12 week NHS scan is 2nd of May and i am so tempted to do another private scan in between, we got a 50% of voucher with window to the womb to use so wouldn't be too expensive xxx
