Late ovulation leading to BFP - success storiea please!

Hi all,

So long story but.. we have been ttc for 12 months now. I usually use opk's and got positives between cycle days 14-16. This month i decided to try temping..along with opks. I got a positive opk cycle day 14 this month...but no temp rise (usually i would stop testing on opk's here prior to temping as got a os opk and would DTD as much as possible). But as i got no temp rise i continued testing and obviously dtd. I got a blazing positive on cycle day 20 when test line was double the darkness of the control line, the next day i had a big temp and now here i am on 3dpo with confirmed ovulation with increased temps.

My cycles range from 28-31 days but i have had longer. So i ovulated day 21....if this has been the case in previous months i have been timing it all wrong so hopefully this month is a lucky one.

What id like to know is if anyone has had success with late ovulations leading to bfp?

@crazymuseummum good to see your pos opk! I always find mine are in the evening too! 10dpo today, had a temp spike past 2 days and have tenders boobs but having mild cramping now so think AF will be here soon :(

I’ve been TTC for 3 months so not very long. I have 24-26 day cycle so have been assuming ovulation around day 12.

Did digital ovulation test this month and ovulated at day 18! I’m pretty sure I ovulated as had EWCM and then very sore boobs just afterwards. This only leaves me with an 8 day literal phase, is that even enough time for implantation?

has anyone with a shorter cycle had something like this? I am currently 6dpo supposedly. I know I just need to wait but would love to hear if anyone else was/is in the same boat!

I have PCOS, I conceived on CD56.

Oh wow that's exactly what I want to hear! Were you using opk or just going with the flow? I had a positive opk on day 55 but unsure to trust it as all my opks are on the high side, I don't have a diagnosis yet but thinking I have PCOS new onset.

I conceived DC1 on cd23. Wasn’t trying, had an oops and took the MAP but still got pregnant. I normally have a 28-31 day cycle so was absolutely shocked to see a blazing positive as I though cd23 was pretty safe as a day not to conceive on. Just goes to show that late ovulation can lead to pregnancy. I have a very happy and healthy toddler to prove it.

@1greentea There is a story behind it all so I had been referred to the hospital for pcos which meant I had irregular periods and usually only 1 every 3 months or so. I was taking a tablet called clomid which basically forced ovulation on day 14 and made cycles more regular. I was scanned on CD11 and told that everything was happening by way of ov. We dtd evrry day from CD11 to about CD16 and I waited and waited and didn't get a positive pregnancy test, nor did AF appear. I waited until CD60 and I was itching to try my next cycle of clomid so the doctor asked me to do a pg test to show it was negative and then he prescribed provera to force my period to arrive so we could start again. I waited and waited again, getting more and more frustrated and still no period arrived. I decided to do a pregnancy test even though I knew it wouldn't be positive, but it was (very faintly on CD64). I then started panicking that I had taken provera to force AF and had I done any damage. He's now a gangly 13 year old so I needn't have been worried. Keep going, even if you think you've ov'd then keep going anyway.

Would you say todays dip means AF here tomorrow or next day? :( its gone 0.02 under the coverline

Hi everyone, I actually got a BFP today on 11DPO (on a ClearBlue digital). I ovulated on day 29 of what would have been a 41 day cycle.
I had a chemical in early December so please all keep your fingers crossed for me! To be honest I really didn't feel happy or excited when I saw the result, just a bit scared that the same thing is going to happen!

@2022TTCBaby1 this exact thing happened to me. I got a positive opk on day 14/15 (can’t remember exactly) and DTD also saw no temp rise so carried on testing. Blazing positive opk on day 21! (Also wouldn’t have continued doing opks but temping set off alarm bells) anyway to cut a long story short I conceived my daughter that month. Thank god for temping or I would never have known I didn’t ovulate when I thought I did!

@2022TTCBaby1 Also wishing baby dust to you and everyone else on the thread! Hope it's given some comfort that it doesn't really matter when you ovulate in the cycle - as long as you do!

@log51 congratulations in your BFP, keeping everything crossed for you that all goes well.
As for me....AF reared her ugly head and my gosh is she here with a vengeance! My period pains are horrendous! They havent stopped all day! To a point where i was crying :(

Hoping for that BFP soon! Going into cycle 13. My thoughts have now become less negative and upsetting and more that for every cycle I dont conceive is another cycle closer to my BFP.

@Char899 i think i have missed it every month as i was only using opk's! From now on temping all the way haha its also a good indicator to show AF is on her way with the temp drop and saved the heart ache this month of the poas and a BFN!

Mine arrived today too after a chemical pregnancy.

I have a 29-36+ day cycle with a 12 day luteal phase. I use OPKs and have been temping for 3 months and agree the information it provides is so awesome.

I have just seen a fertility specialist who has recommended a laparoscopy to check for endometriosis and to try letrozole in the meantime to try and get my cycle down to 28 days. He thinks that in longer cycles my endometrium might already by deteriorating by the time the fertilised egg gets there.

Of course, so many people conceive easily with late ovulation. I just wanted to share the options I've been presented with after TTC for 15 months (I'm 30)

I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant from ovulating on cycle day 60.. off for my first scan tomorrow as LMP shows 14 weeks- but I know that not to be true as I used ovulation sticks and POAS like a mad woman xxx

As an update if this helps I am 33 weeks pregnant now! Ovulated day 18 of 24 when I conceived :)

Jumping on this old thread to see if you have had success since these posts? Trawling old threads as I’ve had a positive OPK on cd22 (of 29-30 day cycles) and looking for hope haha! ✨

@Tacotuesdayfan Yup! Ovulated CD25 and got a BFP on CD35. Currently 22 weeks with a wiggly rainbow 🥰

I had a positive OPK on day 24 which resulted in the 7 week old sitting in front of me now! Good luck :)

Ovulated cd 21 after a failed attempt on cd 15! She’s now 2.5 years old ❤️

Following with interest! Ovulated on day 24 (first month ever tracking with OPKs) out of a 35 ish day cycle. Will be 14DPO tomorrow and was stark negative yesterday evening. Going to try again tomorrow with fmu but this thread is giving me hope 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Previously fell pregnant from cycle day 23 but unfortunately ended in miscarriage and been so worried it's due to my late ovulation! So it's so nice to read others success stories with the same experience.

I am still waiting on that BFP! But this month we have started IVF so wish me luck!! 🩷

Currently 30 weeks and 3 days pregnant.. ovulated on cycle day 60 🙂 baby is healthy - midwife led care and no complications
