As the title says, 4 consecutive losses this year, most recent ending in an Ectopic this September.

I have today tested positive although I've know for about a week I'm pregnant. I think I'm around the 3/4 week mark. But I'm as usual now thinking 'well I'm pregnant but at this stage, it can all clearly still go wrong'. I can't even feel optimistic because I've been here so many times before.

Symptoms are sore breasts and tiredness. That's it.

Is anyone else experiencing something similar?

Hi OP. Congratulations on your positive and sorry to hear about your multiple losses. I didn’t want to read and run. I miscarried at the beginning of December and though I’m desperate to be pregnant again I know how anxious I’ll be when that time comes, so can only begin to imagine how you’re feeling. All I can say is look after yourself, and I’m sending you lots of love.

allgoodthings84 · 27/12/2022 22:24

I know just how you feel and it really takes the shine off what should be an exciting time doesn’t it.

I had an early miscarriage/CP in October and then another in November and now I’m 5.5 weeks pregnant again (nearly a week longer than the previous 2) and constantly on knicker watch and worrying. I don’t feel like I can get excited.

OneDayFri · 27/12/2022 22:26

Good luck, OP. I pray this time you go full term. Sorry about the previous losses. Crossing fingers for you.

Hey, thank you so much for your lovely message. I'm so very sorry for your loss. How are you feeling now?

I'm trying so very hard not to be anxious or to let the pregnancy consume me. I've had so many strong positive tests and then lost the pregnancy that I don't even feel I can trust those 2 red lines anymore.

I really, really hope 2023 is your year. Sending much love back ❤️

Thank you for your positivity and good wishes.

I'm not going to test again for a week. I've had miscarriages where the pregnancy has just stopped growing and a scan has revealed the loss where there was previously a heartbeat. I know this is now all out of my hands.

I'm just going to try and get on with things and not overthink. Easier said than done! 😄

@BecauseICan22 I really hope this one sticks for you too. I’m so sorry how much you’ve had to go through.

I have banned myself from testing or I will become obsessed. I got a 3+ weeks on a weeks digital on Monday and that’s as much as I can do with tests. I just know with my 2 previous the lines got fainter quickly so my head wants to make sure that’s not happening but I mustn’t let myself do that it’s not healthy and won’t help or change the outcome. I have one digital left as was a pack of 2 so might use that one in a few days then that’s it I’m buying no more.

My boobs are a lot firmer and sore when touched (and when I first take my bra off) and my sense of smell is slightly heightened and I feel sick but not sure if that’s the antibiotics I’m on for strep throat. I’ll find out tomorrow as I’ve got my last antibiotic at lunch time. I just feel generally blah and can’t be bothered to do anything as worn out.

I'm sorry for all you've had to go through too. I feel your testing obsession, I was just saying to my DH earlier today that I'm not going to test at all now until I get scanned at roughly 5 weeks, unless I start bleeding before then.

We were in Paris over Christmas and I bought a clear blue digital there, I've just done that and it's confirmed 1-2 weeks which is about right with my dates, as based on my last period on the 3rd, I'm just over 3 weeks pregnant.

What I've learned is a positive test literally just means you're pregnant, I doesn't mean anything else as the strongest positive can lead to a loss.

I feel so tentative in terms of not allowing myself to think about things too much and my DH has said he can't allow himself to get attached until. and a huge if, we reach 12 weeks. It's such a long, long road.

But I'm going to think and hope for the best and perhaps, just perhaps this will be it for both of us. I do absolutely know what you're going through. I'm happy to talk anytime you're needing support, a rant or a listening ear.

@allgoodthinhs84, I've just spoken with my Early Pregnancy Unit. They dealt with the Ectopic back in September.
Because of my history of miscarriages and the Ectopic, they've booked me in for a scan in a weeks time. It'll be an internal one, but they'll hopefully be able to see that the pregnancy is in the right place at least.

Are you able to contact your local unit? Sorry if this has already been done by you.

Hi OP, how old are you? Have you been seeing the GP/fertility specialist about your recurrent losses? I was referred to one after 3 losses and had to take a whole lot of injections/tablets once I got a BFP. Just thought it’s something you might want to inquire about at your appt next week.

allgoodthings84 · 28/12/2022 14:23

@BecauseICan22 they won’t do anything until I’ve had 3 losses and I haven’t had an ectopic before and as there’s no signs that it might be ectopic they don’t need to check it’s in the right place. Fingers crossed this little on will hang on in there and I won’t get that third loss. I hope things go really well for you too and we both get our healthy babies

Hello, I'm 42. I was referred to the Miscarriage Clinic after the last loss. They had a phone consultation with me and I was due to go for blood tests to start the ball rolling on the 30th.

These have now been cancelled and I'll be scanned in a weeks time.

There has been the mention of progesterone which I will discuss at the appointment in a week. Thank you for your advice 😊

I feel for you. It's like you have to go through hell 3 times, and then you'll potentially get support.

I really, really hope you don't get to the stage of a 3rd loss. Sending all my positive vibes your way.

Congratulations!
Usually if you've had quite a few miscarriages your doctor/ fertility expert can help you out with it. Usually they give you medication/ injections to try and substain the pregnancy. Simple and cheap fixes are progesterone and baby aspirin.
Have you checked out your thyroid? Maybe that is out of whack.
Sounds like you definitely need more investigation as to why your losing
Your pregnancy's. Losing one is far too many.
Try to keep strong but In the meantime
Try to see an expert as soon as possible

Hi @BecauseICan22 I have had a similar year to you and have had 3 miscarriages and two chemical pregnancies. My most recent miscarriage in September, I had such positive tests even more so than with my 2yr old son. I then had a CP the following cycle 😔I really hope this one sticks for you. My consultant recommended 150mg aspirin daily and prescribed progesterone from ovulation. Wishing you all the best X

Hey, I'd love to join this thread.
currently so so scared and anxious to be pregnant again. Lost my little boy in July this year at 32 weeks 3 days, just terrified it's going to happen again!

Hey, congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your son. This time for you is understandably going to be very, very worrying.
May I ask how far along you are?

i have an amniocentesis booked in for 16 weeks to hopefully give me some peace of mind that this baby really is healthy and sticking around but I'm scared that even that won't give me peace of mind

I imagine until your baby is safely in your arms, you're going to feel how you are. I hope within that there are pockets during your pregnancy where you can enjoy it but I know your mind won't switch off. I understand. I've had 4 losses this year but 7 in total.

Do you have support? A listening ear or two?

ScaredSally · 30/12/2022 19:14

@BecauseICan22 sorry for all of your losses, I don't know how you still have the hope to keep going but I guess you have to don't you
my partner is amazing and has all the hope and positive thinking for both of us, but I'm also under an antenatal mental health team which is helping me with my anxiety, it just feels like a lot sometimes

BecauseICan22 · 04/01/2023 08:51

Having a tough time convincing myself that this pregnancy is viable this morning. I took a CB digital, hoping to see 2-3 weeks on there, but it still said 1-2 weeks. I feel certain the pregnancy is failing 😞 but I'm trying to very hard to think positive and strong thoughts.

I've only known I'm pregnant for the last 9 days, around which CB was stating 1-2 weeks. I know, I know I shouldn't have done another test, but I was starting to feel anxious.

I have an early scan at my EPU this Friday, I'm hoping so hard that the pregnancy is in the right place and they can see a yolk sac/fetal pole.

According to Flo, I'm 4 weeks and 5 days, and I'll be 5 weeks on the day of the scan. I still have sore breasts and am tired but not much else. No bleeding, but I know that doesn't mean anything as the pregnancy can stop inside but my body won't register the fail yet.

I hope everyone else is doing well and feeling good.

BecauseICan22 · 05/01/2023 12:40

I have my scan tomorrow morning - I'm trying so hard to be pragmatic. I'll be exactly 5 weeks.

I'm predicting:

Gestational sac but empty, come back in 2 weeks.

Gestational sac with some shadowing, too early to see anything, come back in 2 weeks.

Shadow on my remaning overy, query Ectopic, come back in 2 weeks.

Still no bleeding or cramping, but that doesn't mean anything I know. There are no overt Ectopic symptoms either, but that could be because it's too early for symptoms. I'm also struggling with the CB 1-2 weeks from yesterday.

It's the waiting, counting down, not knowing, managing your anxiety, feeling like it's all going on forever for potentially in the end for it to all come to nothing. And then trying to fight that feeling deep down where you're thinking 'I know this isn't going to go well'.

If anyone else is in the same or a similar position, I feel for you.

Phrenologistsfinger · 05/01/2023 12:48

After 13 losses in the last 2.7 years, I treat every bfp as a miscarriage in waiting tbh. Both DP and I roll our eyes each time, so I get it. Just take one day at a time and be really kind and gentle to yourself. Best of luck!
