Just wondering if there are positive stories of you conceiving naturally at 36 ? Everyone is saying that I don’t really have a chance . Thank you

Er, loads and loads..? It's a totally normal age to have a child. Who on earth are you talking to, a Benedictine order of nuns from the 1820s?

Juicylychee · 01/11/2022 19:27

I was 33 when I had my first but my local groups were full of mums 36-40!!!!! It’s the norm these days.

wishing3 · 01/11/2022 19:27

Many.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 01/11/2022 19:28

I was almost 37. I had unprotected sex once that month. Ds is now at on the sofa eating pizza. His sister wasn't much harder to conceive at 40.

qpmz · 01/11/2022 19:28

Everyone saying you don't have a chance is completely clueless! ...not too mention negative and unsupportive. Tell them where to go!

Have you got regular periods? Get a fertility check done at a private clinic if you can. Your partner too as it can just as easily be male factor.

I have a success story as o conceived naturally just before my 44th birthday. Don't leave it as late as me if you can help it!

Ttcnamechanger · 01/11/2022 19:29

Ha! 1st cycle off the pill. Age 36. Healthy little boy, easy pregnancy. Please don't worry 🙂

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 01/11/2022 19:29

Twice, at 36 and again at 39. I've got a high bmi too which counts against too, best of luck!

Clambering · 01/11/2022 19:29

I conceived at 36 without really trying and again at 39 as soon as we'd decided to try again. It's definitely doable!

Squidthing · 01/11/2022 19:30

Not 36 but 40 for me.

Melstarrynight · 01/11/2022 19:31

Second child conceived at 37 first time of trying. I think DH may have been a bit disappointed 😆

Violettaa · 01/11/2022 19:31

Tonnes! 36 is perfectly normal age to get pregnant!

(I’ve done it first cycle three times at 35, just 37 though I had a MC, and now I’m 12 weeks at 37.5)

Phantomb · 01/11/2022 19:31

I conceived naturally at 38 in the first month of trying. He was my 5th baby though! Lots of women have babies in their late 30’s.

Will this be your first? No one will really know if you haven’t tried before. You need to try for 12 months then perhaps look into fertility investigation. Although if you can afford it or have private health insurance, I’d look into it now so you don’t waste time.

Good luck.

GelatoQueen · 01/11/2022 19:32

Your friends / family are talking rubbish OP. Hope it's not your partner telling you you're past it ....

Anunusualfamily · 01/11/2022 19:32

Currently 36 and 8 weeks pregnant 1st time without protection

MissBPotter · 01/11/2022 19:33

Er what? Dd3 took one go I think, age 36. My mum told me I was a geriatric mother, but age was never once mentioned by midwives. Easy pregnancy and reasonable birth too.

SequoiaTree · 01/11/2022 19:34

Yes. Dd2. Took 3 months. My grandmother was 43 when she had my mum. In the 40s so no fertility treatment

DPotter · 01/11/2022 19:35

conceived within 4 months at 38. Have friends who conceived naturally in their early 40s.

Start taking the folic acid and off you go! Ignore the nay-sayers. In fact don't tell them you're trying - they'll only want updates

DeliberatelyObtuse · 01/11/2022 19:35

I agree

They are talking nonsense

I had ds1 at 36 and ds2 at 37

Lots of my mates had kids in their mid to late 30s

MsCactus · 01/11/2022 19:35

You're very likely to conceive at 36 after a year of trying - think it's something like 90% at that age will.

How old is your partner? If he's over 40 you're three times more likely to miscarry - if he's in his 20s your chances of conceiving will be much higher.

Either way, your own fertility at 36 will be pretty good

Crimsonripple · 01/11/2022 19:35

Yep 37. Not trouble falling pregnant.

ncncncnc123 · 01/11/2022 19:36

Conceived first month of trying. We dtd three days in a row while I was ovulating and my guess is the second time was the winner (although I obviously don't know for sure lol)

sellthesizzle · 01/11/2022 19:37

Conceived naturally at 35 and again at 36 - healthy babies delivered full term.

Dell15 · 01/11/2022 19:38

Yes - loads - myself included! Conceived easily at 33 and again at 36. Equally I know women who have struggled to conceive at much younger age so age is only one factor and is not the defining factor indicative of fertility

Swedishmeatball · 01/11/2022 19:39

um, every mother in my son’s class? All had a child at 36+ (Some had first child earlier of course). Class of 24, private school and most mums work so possibly case of slightly older cohort.

Geranium1984 · 01/11/2022 19:39

I was 35 when I conceived my 1st, was pregnant on month 2 of trying.
I'm now pregnant with number 2, conceived when I was 37 after 4 months of trying.

Start tracking your periods and do ovulation sticks so you know your cycle well and have a better chance of hitting the right window.

Good luck x
