Just wondering if there are positive stories of you conceiving naturally at 36 ? Everyone is saying that I don’t really have a chance . Thank you

I had DS3 when I was 38. I felt really old at the baby groups and continue to at school sometimes as the other mums are mostly 10 - 15 years younger than me, some even younger still. They were all talking about getting tamagotchis when they were kids and I was thinking I was working and expecting DS1 then! But in terms of pregnancy itself, no problems and it was the easiest birth of the three too.

In 2016 54% of UK births were to women over the age of 30. 22% of the total were to women 35 and over.

Got pregnant at 37 no problem, I think it took three months.

I had my son at 36 and daughter at 38, both conceived naturally within a couple of months and much quicker than my oldest who I had at 25!

Err what?? Conceived on first cycle of trying when approaching my 36th bday. Confused

Blanketwars · 01/11/2022 22:17

37, took three months. DS is 16 months and an absolute joy….. even if he prefers his dad 🤣

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/11/2022 22:23

I did at 37 and 40, first cycle each time!

Didn't want children at all until I was 37. Changed mind after reading Libby Purves, met love of life, decided to go for it. At 40, came off the pill and was pregnant within a month. Easy pregnancy, easy home birth, easy breastfeeding, lovely low-maintenance child who's now a gorgeous lad of 15. The only bit of drama was being plastered over the tabloids for doing gender neutral parenting.

All of it was just good luck. Had early menopause and then a hysterectomy, so I got my timing just right. I've always heard it said that the best way to find out about your fertility is to talk to your mum. Mine got pregnant on her wedding night.

Don't forget that what you read in magazines are the times it goes wrong, and for plenty of women it goes right.

OP, in future you might think about wording posts like this a bit differently. A lot of older women use this page, and it's upsetting and offensive to read that there's "no chance" of conceiving at 36, let alone 46+, which is the age of some ladies on here.

Maybe do some research yourself into average ages of conception.

Loads as longs as you don't have any underlying issues.I had my son at 33 and I'm pregnant again one week before my 36th birthday so definitely possible.

bellinisurge · 02/11/2022 07:33

Yes women's fertility declines with age. But the 35 years old limit or whatever was set up by male doctors failing to observe women. I'm in my mid fifties. My Mum had me at 36 which was seen as very old back in the 1960s. I was 40 when my first and only dd was born.
There are challenges with being older but the idea that mid thirties is the "cut off" is a myth.

HopefulHarry · 03/11/2022 20:24

I had child number 2 at 35 and and child number 3 at 39. Currently 40 ttc child number 4!

Seryse · 26/01/2023 13:18

Not 36 but -

I have an 18 year old daughter from a previous relationship, we tried for years after, even saw fertility specialists for a few years but to no avail. We split up, not due to that, and a few years later I moved on and we weren't even trying when I realised I was late. DS is now 10 months old, I had a miscarriage in August when he was 4 months and I'm currently 20 weeks pregnant with a girl. I'll turn 41 two weeks before she arrives. Don't give up hope OP, I gave up for a long time and had come to terms with I'd never have another baby... look how it turned out for me.😂

BitOutOfPractice · 26/01/2023 13:21

I conceived easier with DD2 than I did with DD1 at 31.

who’s telling you you don’t stand a chance?

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 26/01/2023 13:22

The scaremongering about fertility is really reprehensible. It's become a large industry by preying on such fears.

Many people conceive in mid-thirties.

Off the top pf my head I can think of six unplanned pregnancies age 41-46, all resulting in healthy offspring.

MK85 · 26/01/2023 20:14

I have severe pcos and don't often have periods 1-2 year, don't ovulate and we were told we are awaiting icsi due to his semem analysis being poor .. After my first regular bout of cycles in many years ( 2 in a row) I was due to start clomid when i found out I was pregnant naturally a few days after my 37th birthday but unfortunately it resulted in a loss. I never thought that I could achieve a pregnancy at all and the fact that it happened on just my second regular period was amazing. I think there's definitely hope for you op.

LBFseBrom · 27/01/2023 21:03

Not me and I wouldn't have wanted to but I have known simply loads of women who have conceived children naturally at 36 - and older.
