Positive after 18 months of trying next test negative

Hey everyone,

I woke up early hours with overwhelming feeling to do a pregnancy test I'm currently 9dpo. Done a clear blue digital (without weeks indicator) test it come up pregnant.

I've rushed to asda to get more tests they only had clear blue weeks indicator - managed do tiniest wee to test it in and to my shock it's come up not pregnant.

Now my head is well and truly fried.. could it just be that it was only about an hour after my first wee and it wasn't concentrated enough? Or can you get false positives on these.

It's most likely to be due to the concentration of your wee, especially as you're so early (you won't have much HCG in your system yet). It would be very unusual to get a false positive. Don't test again today - give a few days for your HCG levels to rise further if you want a confirmation test!

PurBal · 25/09/2022 06:29

A false positive is unlikely but since the tests measure the amount of hcg I think it’s likely there wasn’t enough wee. Get a FRER because they’re more sensitive and even the faintest line indicates positive. The digital tests aren’t as sensitive. Fingers crossed for you 💐

cavebaby · 25/09/2022 06:36

A digital positive at 9dpo is great and they can only pick up HCG if it's there. Squeezing out another wee an hour later just isn't going to show the same levels of HCG as a full night of concentrated wee so this would be why the second test showed negative.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and if you want to test again, make sure you either wait for your first morning urine again or do a long daytime hold so your wee is as concentrated as possible. Hope everything goes well for you!

PointyMcguire · 25/09/2022 08:24

Don't panic, the digital tests are always less sensitive so best taken using FMU. If you feel like you still need reassurance I’d try and get hold of an FRER. Best of luck and fingers firmly crossed for you x

PinkButtercups · 25/09/2022 08:45

Get another test (not digital) they're not very sensitive.

Test again tomorrow with your morning wee x

I agree with above but also, we are cycle twins! ♥️

DPO9 and I've just had a very faint positive on a One Step cheapie this morning too 🥹 I have the CB digitals here but I'm going to try and hold off as I know they're not as sensitive. Keep us updated ✨

Ks1994 · 25/09/2022 12:07

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all your advice.
I've held my urine for 4 hours and taking a first response which is also negative. I am very confused right now 🥲

SalviaOfficinalis · 25/09/2022 12:09

It’s not about holding in wee, the morning wee is strongest because you’re a bit dehydrated having not drunk for 8 hours overnight.
I know it will feel like forever but try again tomorrow morning. Best of luck

Batbatbatty · 25/09/2022 12:10

Like a previous poster said, don't test again today! Wait until first thing tomorrow morning or better yet, 2 days

MrsAlexander · 25/09/2022 12:50

I honestly think it's a bit too early for us and we will see it develop. You have one positive there - that means something!

Ks1994 · 25/09/2022 15:38

Thanks everyone patiently waiting for tomorrow morning praying that this is it 🤞🤞

Vinyasa474 · 25/09/2022 15:38

9DPO is still very early. If you've had even one positive then there is HCG in the urine. I suggest holding off testing again until the day before your period is due (or even longer) and if you want to be sure, ask your GP for a serum HCG - it will give you an answer within a day. Good luck :)

2 more negatives this morning, think I am out . Very very very faint line on first response but not taking that as a positive at all. Can't belive after 18months of nothing that this has happened 🥲

You're still so early so don't rule yourself out. You still have time left to test x

Also if you got a faint line why are you not taking that as a positive?

Ks1994 · 26/09/2022 05:50

Because it's super super faint and I know these tests are bad for indent/evap lines

OP posts:
PinkButtercups · 26/09/2022 05:54

Oh okay. Don't rule yourself out though as you still have time.

Mummyme87 · 26/09/2022 06:31

Can you post a picture of the test with faint line @Ks1994

Ks1994 · 26/09/2022 06:38

Barely even visible on the photo

I can see your faint line OP. I think if you wait a couple of days you will get your positive test. I really hope you get a good outcome!

Maireas · 26/09/2022 08:54

You've not even missed a period yet?
Do a test when you have. Good luck.

Ks1994 · 26/09/2022 09:01

Correct I haven't but when you've been trying for 18 months and had nothing but disappointment I apologise for being inpatient.

OP posts:
Mummyme87 · 26/09/2022 09:07

@Ks1994 it is odd to get a ‘pregnant’ on a digital then the next day such a faint line it’s more of an indent on a test that is more sensitive.

I don’t know what the answer is, there must have been HCG in your system to get the initial positive. I understand it’s so hard to be patient ♥️ I hope this is a positive outcome for you lovely

Ks1994 · 26/09/2022 09:08

Exactly what I thought I assumed line would be alot more visible than that if I got pregnant on a digital. Very confused right now

Goodness! Don't apologise 😊
It's just that after a missed period you'll know definitely. I can totally understand how impatient you must feel. 🌺
