Ok, here we go then, best foot fwd everyone!

My goal: gym three times a week and not catching the bus to work - it's only a 15 min walk!

Indeed, problem is with the weekend we have lined up (xmas party season begins in earnest!) I'll be the size of ahouse by Monday!

munnzieb · 01/12/2004 19:19

haven't really managed much this week girls, apart form eating a whole selection box to my self..... I blame the hormones lmao. back to swimming on thurs as AF will have gone by then. Hester BD still burns calaries! lol,

anyone tried Atkins diets?

runtus · 02/12/2004 11:02

Tried it and decided it is impossible to do if you are not at home 24/7......the time and effort it takes to get the right food is a nightmare. I lost weight but only because I couldn't actually find anything I could eat!

Chuffingoodtime · 02/12/2004 15:01

The trick is not eating for 2 hours after you do aerobic exercise apparently. So a good brisk walk for 5 minutes or so, don't eat anything for 2 hours. Haven't started doing this myself yet as I have a cold and flu but will let you know when I get back to the gym.

hester · 02/12/2004 15:11

Nothing to eat for two hours?!

Not even chocolate?

Won't you faint?

hester · 02/12/2004 15:11
Grin
Chuffingoodtime · 02/12/2004 16:22

I can explain the reasoning as it does make sense but it would take ages.

jingleballs · 02/12/2004 22:58

don;t think i like the idea of that then, after i excercise I like to have some form of choc to replenish the energy which I have used up (if I say it enought i'll start to believe it!! )

Chuffingoodtime · 03/12/2004 09:20

basically when you do aerobic exercise your body burns fat cells and glucose that were already circulating in the system (not the bits on the hips). Your body always needs some fat molecules floating around in your bloodstream. Anyway if you eat straight after exercising then your food replenishes these fat molecules that you used up when you exercised. If you wait a while before you eat your body pulls the fat molecules from your body stores (ie hips).
It does make sense though no matter how hard it is to do.

hester · 03/12/2004 09:26

That's really interesting, Chuffing. Does it make a difference what you eat? i.e. if you really can't wait, would it be better to go for something low fat?

Chuffingoodtime · 03/12/2004 10:07

not sure that would make sense though wouldn't it.

Twiga · 03/12/2004 13:00

Well, it's friday and this week I made it to the gym once - will be better next week honest, starting with tomorrow - once is better than just thinking about it which is what I've been soing for the last couple of months, so don't feel too bad.

Chuffingoodtime · 03/12/2004 15:38

Well done twiga!!!
You have to start somewhere, no point in wearing yourself out first week and not being able to go for a week through injury.

jingleballs · 03/12/2004 22:56

well girls, sorry to let u down, but i din't mange swimming at all this week, but i did manage two girlie nights, one including a bottle of taboo! lol.

Twiga · 04/12/2004 07:34

hester · 05/12/2004 09:26

I've done no sit-ups whatsoever, but I did manage to get back to the gym and have a good workout. (And then ate chocolate as a reward.) Will push myself to go twice this week.

runtus · 06/12/2004 14:04

I drank myself stupid on Friday night and followed it up with a Burger King! Proceeded to eat te contents of the frdge on Sat and Sunday, now finishing off the left over food from the office xmas party - so it's going well so far!

Twiga · 10/12/2004 10:52

Friday again, no gym trips for me, although have done a lot of walking this week - even walked to Tesco which is a good mile from here, of course I bused it back Grin! Should burn off some calories dancing at the Wet, Wet, Wet concert tonight....
