Anyone got pregnant from pre-cum?

Partner and I had unprotected sex yesterday. He didn't "finish" as we agreed he wouldn't as we were both in a rush and just wanted some clean fun. But he was really close, like super close and kept having to stop and start again to stop himself.

Turns out I am due to ovulate today or tomorrow.

Is there any chance pre-cum or any sperm could leak out? Is this likely or just some kind of myth or super rare?

Not TTC right now but wouldn't be a disaster either if I was pregnant.

Yes. Baby is 16 now

fallfallfall · 05/05/2022 22:46

most Catholics don’t follow that doctrine to the letter.

@Tigerandthetea - more than happy to be corrected. However I doubt women were monitoring their secretions and temperature 40 years or more ago which meant withdrawal being the favoured contraception. Was trying to get OP to see that it doesn't actually work effectively (enough) by giving an example she mght be more familiar with. I failed.

When I got engaged, my late MIL gave me a book she was given as a devout Catholic before her own wedding.

It covered cycle/ovulation.
It advocated the rhythm method, not withdrawal.

Had she lived, she’d be married 55 years this year.

Verbena87 · 05/05/2022 23:06

My mum used the symptothermal method (bbt and cervical fluid, not the rhythm method which is based on counting days) before having me and I’m 35. Worked for her to avoid and to conceive. You do have to follow it carefully and be rigorous and consistent about observations though.

OP hope things work out for you.

Pixiedust1234 · 05/05/2022 23:36

So would everyone who is pointing out to me that Catholics prefer the rhythm rather than withdrawal method actually answer the OP too. Could she get pregnant or is she safe enough to continue doing withdrawal? Any advice?

AS I stated before I'm happy enough to be corrected (and I did learn something as well so thank you) but let's not derail her thread. Unwanted pregnancies are too big a thing.

Several of us had already posted by the time you got to the thread and started spouting inaccurate information so I’m not entirely sure why you feel it is your place to direct people to how they should be responding? If anyone has derailed this thread, it’s you.

The majority of people have told her that relying on withdrawal is not effective.

I get the feeling that the OP would be quite happy with a pregnancy as anyone who is trying to actively avoid a pregnancy would not be having unproductive sex when they know they’re close to ovulation.

Whadda · 06/05/2022 00:10

^unprotected sex.

Although it didn’t sound all that productive either 😉

Airfriedpotatowitch · 06/05/2022 00:40

Yes and yes again, get a morning after pill from chemist if needed u can order online same day pick up from boots (I learned my lesson )

PleasantFucker · 06/05/2022 01:27

Yes, happened to us. I don't think the MAP works on ovulation day does it?

PregnantMumOf4 · 06/05/2022 01:30

When me and my husband were trying to conceive 7 months ago, he accidentally pulled out but I still got pregnant, our only idea of how it could of happened is that I got pregnant from the pre-cum. Now I'm pregnant with quadruplets, so I guess anything is possible.

@pixie5121 He gets really tired, we only did it once. Thanks for the concern.

PregnantMumOf4 · 06/05/2022 01:56

@PregnantGrannyMumof10 I do not feel like disclosing that type of information. What I will say though is that I am quite young (25-ish) so it was quite a surprise, very happy though, can't wait for when they are born in 2 months.

@PregnantGrannyMumof10 surely this has to be one of those trolls. It seems as though the tik tok kids are invading again.

SmallPrawnEnergy · 06/05/2022 03:16

@PregnantGrannyMumof10 Don’t you have school in the morning? Someone is going to be a cranky pants in the morning!!!!

sjxoxo · 06/05/2022 04:46

you kind of are ttc if you’re having unprotected sex tbh.. you seem a bit blasé about it- I would start using protection. I think you focussing on ovulation etc is very unreliable. X

iggybop · 06/05/2022 06:38

Just clean fun? Just get condoms

EarringsandLipstick · 06/05/2022 07:32

Just on this - they absolutely were! I remember coming across a pamphlet on natural family planning in my parents' house, published about 50 years ago now. (Irish, Catholic)

EarringsandLipstick · 06/05/2022 07:33

Meant to add, this was part of the recommended approach for family planning.

EarringsandLipstick · 06/05/2022 07:40

Back to OP, yes, there's a chance you could become pregnant. Unless you're sure that's what you want, you should be using contraception

catlady10 · 06/05/2022 07:42

Not exactly a scientific fact from me but my best friend and her DP were using withdrawal method for years then decided to TTC and they fell pregnant on the first month where he didn't pull out!

I've also been off the pill since 2020 and always just used withdrawal method because it didn't really matter if I got pregnant in that time and haven't fallen pregnant that way! X
