Really hoping this cycle is the one

Anybody want to join? Im on CD15 and really hoping to conceive baby no2 this time around. I'm 30, been off the pill since end of January and have a gorgeous 2 year old.

I fell pregnant pretty quickly with the first and we weren't even actively trying. I'm coming up to my fertile window (tracking using a number of apps although some do vary from one another) so really going to go for it when it comes to TTC this month. Also taking pregnacare conception vitamins.

Anybody else in a similar boat and want to keep me company?

Last cycle, my period was 2 days late and when AF eventually came, I didn't realise how gutted I would be. Hubby and I agreed to just be relaxed about the whole thing and "when it happens it happens". But both of us were pretty gutted when my period decided to show, which was reassuring in some ways as we both realised just how much we want to grow our family.

This cycle, we have DTD on CD7, CD10, CD11, CD13 and CD15. So realllllly hoping we are in with a chance 🤞🏽

Hi @S0220 you mention you are using apps to track everything, but are you actually using something to concretely predict/confirm ovulation? I mean OPKs or BBT. Otherwise your fertile window according to apps might not be fully accurate.
Fingers crossed!

TokenGinger · 28/04/2022 10:40

I'd love to join! We've been trying since September/October now but my cycles are all over the place so it's been tough to predict ovulation.

I'm pretty certain I am ovulating today. I have EWCM and my predicted ovulation day was yesterday so could well be today given my dates can be out of kilter.

I hoped to DTD last night but DP was exhausted, and I have decided to stop telling him when I'm ovulating as he then found it hard to perform under the pressure. So we missed last night but hopeful for tonight 🤞🏼

TokenGinger · 28/04/2022 10:40

Your DTD activity looks great! You're in with a good chance, I think. Fingers crossed xx

S0220 · 28/04/2022 11:06

Hi @Regenbogen22! I haven't used OPK's or BBT to track ovulation in a honesty. I do keep a close eye on my CM though which gives me a good idea in terms of ovulation which seems to be fairly accurate compared to the apps. I also have about 4 different apps that all say roughly the same thing in terms of my fertile window! Thanks for the well wishes ☺️

Hi @TokenGinger! Ah always frustrating when cycles are all over the place. Makes it a lot harder doesn't it.

This cycle was the first cycle I've actually told my DP when my fertile window is (or predicted) - hence why there's been so much DTD activity! I'm hoping we will DTD again tonight too 🤞🏽

Good luck to you! Do you have any other children or are you trying to conceive for the first time? X

I'd love to join. Slightly similar - I'm 33, ttc #2 and on cd12. Ovulation predicted on Sunday 🤞

@S0220 in March I had af being 10 days late in total. Dh and I weren't trying but were both gutted. So here we are trying. Like you I couldn't believe how sad a late period would make me

TokenGinger · 28/04/2022 12:40

Fingers crossed for tonight! Let's hope it's our month! ❤️

We have one DS, he'll be three next month. We'd been holding off until he was 2.5, in the knowledge that we'd be able to get 30 free hours' for nursery by the time we'd then be paying nursery fees for a baby, but it's taking us so long to catch that I think DS will be in primary school by the time I have another and finish maternity leave.

I think if I don't catch this cycle, I'm going to try using ovulation tests to see if that can help me.

I read last week that even if you DTD on ovulation day, there's still only a 25% chance of falling pregnant 😫

I had this last month. I really thought it was finally our time. Also 10 days late. It is so disheartening.

LemonZestDribbles · 28/04/2022 13:21

@TokenGinger it's an absolute lottery isn't it? Like you do everything right and more but the chances are still so small. Especially hard when it's all you can think of. Ovulation tests is a good next step. I've been using them this month 🤞

I have a ds too. He's 19 months now. You spend so long thinking about the age gap then your body doesn't play ball by getting pregnant either 🙃

TokenGinger · 28/04/2022 13:35

@LemonZestDribbles Are they quite easy to read? I have no idea how to use them, other than peeing on it, but what's the indication that you're ovulating? Am I right in thinking the line gradually gets darker?

It really is such a lottery. It did take a few months with DS to catch but now I look at him and think wow, you're just a miracle, because I didn't appreciate how hard it truly is.

Cat2hop · 28/04/2022 14:04

Me too, if love to join in! Echo all of the above. Every AF so disappointing.
OPK showed positive for CD16, DTD days 12,15,16,17 so 🤞.
When we started trying I was busy thinking about age gaps (DD 21 months) but now just hopeful!

Kitty901 · 28/04/2022 14:34

Hi ladies, can i join. Also trying to conceive #2, ds i 2 now! We are on cycle 6 and feels like we have been trying for ages! Ds took 6 months, i was really hopefull that it would happen faster this time. I am using preconception vitamins, pre seed, and ovu sticks, yet no luck so far. My LP is short - 10 days and worries me a lot that it would be an issue.
Good luck to all! Xx

S0220 · 28/04/2022 17:20

@TokenGinger let's hope so! 🤞🏽

@LemonZestDribbles ahh it's torture isn't it. Especially 10 days late 😩

I've never used ovulation tests before either. I think I may try next cycle if this cycle isn't a success.

@Cat2hop your DTD activity looks promising! Good luck ☺️

@Kitty901 sounds like you're doing what you can! I'm taking pregnacare preconception vitamins at the moment. Only started taking them this cycle in all honesty despite trying since Jan/Feb time.

When is everybody's next AF due to arrive?

OP posts:
Kitty901 · 28/04/2022 17:33

My AF is due this Saturday 😑 hope it doesn't show but don't have hopes at all to be honest.

S0220 · 28/04/2022 18:51

@Kitty901 ahh that's not too far away! Fingers crossed for you. My AF isn't due until around the 12th so I feel like I have forever to go 😩 although have to say I am quite enjoying the DTD activity at the moment 😂

OP posts:
Kitty901 · 28/04/2022 19:23

@S0220 thank you x i am glad you are enjoying it, i should admit it does turn into a job for me at some point 🤣 but i think we have over done it! Wanted to cover myself and did not skip a night for 6 nights 🤣 think that was a bit too much specially with a toddler that wakes whenever he wants

S0220 · 28/04/2022 20:43

@Kitty901 haha 6 nights is impressive! I think you'll be in with a good chance at that rate! Me and hubby both woke up at 4am for some water last night/early this morning and decided to DTD at silly o clock which doesn't often happen to us unless we have had a drink 😂

It's all very fun and enjoyable at the moment but I can see how it can soon turn into feeling like a job!

Hey all can I join too please?
going into my 5th cycle trying although we’ve had 2 months scuppered by covid, 1 month where I’m not convinced I ovulated, and I’m due to ovulate any day now and hubby has got food poisoning!!

also got a little one, she’s almost 3.5 and asking pretty much daily for a sibling!

S0220 · 28/04/2022 22:00

@T4Opal oh no how unfortunate he has food poisoning! So frustrating when things get in the way isn't it. You may still be in with a chance if he has a speedy recovery! 🤞🏽

Hello everyone! Hope it's ok to join
I'm ttc baby #2, 4th month trying no luck yet, how's everyone feeling about this month? Are we counting down the days to test day? 😂

HackneyGirl2022 · 28/04/2022 23:18

Hi all... hope it's ok to join 🙋🏻‍♀️

TTC baby #2 been testing since 1st April and have had no peak on the CB ovulation tests. We DTD for almost two weeks at the middle of my cycle as I was going according to the apps. On CD38 and 28 flashing smiley face 😩

S0220 · 29/04/2022 10:24

@em123456789 I feel like I have forever to wait until test day! 😩 so trying not to dwell on it too much but it's hard isn't it!

@HackneyGirl2022 what apps do you use out of curiousity? Always useful to know if there's any I'm missing out on! I have about 4 different ones 😂

Just interested to know... what's everybody's take on drinking alcohol whilst TTC/during the 2ww? Hubby and I have been very active over the past week so a part of me is feeling cautiously optimistic. But we're going out tomorrow night and no doubt will have a few drinks etc. Never really thought much of it when conceiving my first but it was really relaxed when we conceived him and I can't say we were "trying" as much as we are at the minute. I guess a part of me feels a bit guilty for having a few drinks this weekend? I know it might sound silly, just wondered if anybody ever felt the same or has any words of advice!

OP posts:
LemonZestDribbles · 29/04/2022 10:26

@TokenGinger I usually pee in a pot and then dip. I think they can go gradually or from nothing to peak. I can't really remember from last time. I'm hoping I get my peak soon

@Cat2hop that looks like some perfect dtd timing 🤞🤞

@Kitty901 oooh I hope af doesn't show tomorrow. How are you feeling?

@T4Opal you're having the worst luck. Hope he's feeling a bit better soon :(

@em123456789 are you close to test time?

@HackneyGirl2022 is the flashing face the peak? Are your cycles usually so long?

No peak for me yet. All faint and meant to ovulate Sunday. Knackered from all the dtd 🤣

LemonZestDribbles · 29/04/2022 10:29

@S0220 I'm sure I read before that it's absolutely fine to drink as the egg wouldn't have properly implanted and no cord etc. It's totally up to you though. If you feel guilty I wouldn't but don't stop yourself enjoying yourself either. I don't really drink alcohol but I am a coffee addict and I've not curbed it

em123456789 · 29/04/2022 10:31

@S0220 feels so long, I promised myself after spending way too much money last month on tests that I was going to wait till AF day this month!

I didn't know when I was first pregnant with DS and drank alcohol and everything was fine. Personally I wouldn't dwell on it and try and avoid alcohol completely, maybe just be cautious and have a few. TTC is stressful enough without having to change your whole lifestyle (nevermind people asking why you aren't drinking) 😳
