Question for those who came OFF THE PILL to TCC ...

MrsKittylette · 06/01/2008 20:47

After you finished your last packet and had you withdrawal bleed how long was it until your first 'real' period?

And do you think there is any point in TTC this month for us as I will have no idea when I OV!

And also how long did it take for your cycles to settle down again?

Or has anyone got PG soon after finishing the pill?

Sorry for all the questions I am just finding the whole thing a bit frustrating that I cant 'plan anything' for now!

me too!!

When i had ds1 i finished pack and had a v light period exactly when i would normally on the pill. I got pg straight away.

Hoping to ttc prob from next month for dc2. Came off pill 2 1/2 months ago and am all over the place at the mo. First period came on 4 weeks to the day after stopping pill then last month 5 weeks later so goodness knows when ill be on this month! That is why we are waiting for next month just in case i get pgn striaght away again i am trying to fit dates around ds1 going to playschool and wanted him to be settled in there first.

If this is your first and your not worried when you get pg just start trying straight away!! It makes it more fun and is DEF less stressful! Just go for it! Dont worry about when your ov!

LynetteScavo · 06/01/2008 20:59

I've heard you can get pg very quickly after comming off the pill because your hormones have a sudden boost, or something. I got pg stright away. Stupidly, DH and I were rather suprised!

fruitloop79 · 06/01/2008 21:01

well, I didnt realise the 1st period was a 'withdrawal' until today after reading a couple of posts. My 1st 'withdrawal' period came 34 ish days after last pill. Then the next one came 88 days later. Dunno if that's cos my bits might be up the spout (checking for PCOS in Feb) or because of pill coming out my system. But really the pill should come straight out because you can get pregnant even if you miss one pill

MrsKittylette · 06/01/2008 21:05

It will be my 3rd baby, other boys are 3 & 18 months.

Last time i had WD bleed from pill then next AF wasnt for 90 days!

But i got PG straight after that.

I just dont think I can bear a 90 day wait for my 1st AF.

I think Ill just BD a lot for the next few weeks and keep my fingers crossed

yeah have fun trying although hard with an 18 mnth as i have one too! Keep in touch, we can compare!

Shazza2002 · 06/01/2008 21:06

Stopped the pill had normal withdrawel bleed. Then used other protection for 1 month as wanted to see what my 'normal' cycle was.

Period started 39 days later, then fell pregnant following month. BTW on month I fell PG I OV on CD18 or CD19 which is later than what I would have been led to believe.

Good luck.

fruitloop79 · 06/01/2008 21:16

Oh MrsKitty I thought there was something wrong with me having 88day cycle. maybe like you it was due to coming off pill. You've re-assured me slightly, thanks!

MrsKittylette · 06/01/2008 21:17

goodluck fruit!

Like I said i got PG straight away after my long cycle, I hope you do too

poppy34 · 06/01/2008 21:20

it took about 5 weeks to have first real period. Cycles were all over the place for about 4/5 months. I didn't get pg that quickly after stopping the pill (maybe 6 months).

fruitloop79 · 06/01/2008 21:21

just out of interest, do you know when you Ov'd after your long cycle?

MrsKittylette · 06/01/2008 21:23

I think I ov'D CD 18, I KNOW that i tested 8DOP, 9DPO,10DPO and were all BFN then on 11dpo i got a BFP

sorry, but what does CPO, DOP and DPO mean?

fruitloop79 · 06/01/2008 21:27

Ah thanks, I just wasn't sure when to BD. especially after such a long cycle. I have no idea how long this one will be. I think I'll just work around day 18 then then just keep on every couple days until AF. Could be tiring if another long one but dunno what else to do.

MrsKittylette · 06/01/2008 21:27

AF- PERIOD
OV- OVULATE
DPO - DAYS PAST OVULATION
CD- CYCLE DAY
CM - CERVICAL MUCAS

If i were you i would BD every 2 nd night from 12th onwards for as long as you can.

If you start from the 18th then you would be gutted if you ivulated 'normally' well not normally as everyones different but most womean OV around day 14. So go from the 12th!

fruitloop79 · 06/01/2008 21:30

by the way a friend of mine fell preg quite soon after stopping pill. not sure when exactly but I remember her saying she wasnt expecting to quite so soon - a little encouragement though

MrsKittylette · 06/01/2008 21:32

i still have NO CLUE when im ov. Someone gave me a great link and it had all the temp/mucus details etc but i didnt get on with it. Finding it really hard. If my af was on time it wouldnt be a prob!

MrsKittylette · 06/01/2008 21:37

mad4baby would you try ovulation tests?

you can get them pretty cheap on ebay, about £25 for about £6.

You just start testing daily on about day 12 of your cycle and when you get a positive test then you are likely to ovulate withing 24/48 hours.

MrsKittylette · 06/01/2008 21:37

sorry £6 for 25 tests.
