Hello ladies!
No matter how early it is, no matter how many symptoms you have or don't have drop your tests below and let us make a testing group and be each other's eyes.

I will test on Monday, which is the day AF is to arrive (... unless I'm just too curious and test during the weekend).

Baby dust to all of you!

@allthingssparkly so I did the same as you today. Got too scared to test on my cheapy HCG but did an OPK and the test line is DARK. Now wondering what this means as I know LH can surge before AF Too?? Helpppp

Obsessive testers welcome!
allthingssparkly · 24/02/2022 09:39

Took a pregnancy test which appears very much negative, so I'm completely lost as to why the OPK's are indicating as positive!

Obsessive testers welcome!
stuntbubbles · 24/02/2022 09:43

@allthingssparkly do you chart with temps? Can you share your chart? I suspect you’re ovulating.

allthingssparkly · 24/02/2022 09:46

@stuntbubbles I don't chart with temps unfortunately, surely if I was ovulating now 7 days before my period that gives me very little hope I'd actually conceive? x

Charl881 · 24/02/2022 09:46

@Coastaldreamer apparently there can be an LH surge before AF as well so it’s really difficult to tell!

stuntbubbles · 24/02/2022 09:48

@allthingssparkly But you don’t know it’s 7 days before your period? If you’re ovulating now your luteal phase is likely to be the same as ever, and your period will look “late” to you but it won’t be, really – luteal phase is always the same give or take a day, but ovulation can shift around.

Did you have anything stressful earlier in the month that would have delayed ovulation, or Covid jabs?

Coastaldreamer · 24/02/2022 09:52

@allthingssparkly did you do OPKs this cycle to pin point ovulation?

allthingssparkly · 24/02/2022 09:53

@stuntbubbles I know that my period is due a week today and they are never late/early.

No I haven't had anything stressful that would impact things being different. No recent COVID vaccs either.

I think what I want to know is whether it's still likely that I could conceive if I'm ovulating this late on in my cycle as mine are usually 29 days and today is CD22 for me 😊

I'm not a regular opk tester either.

allthingssparkly · 24/02/2022 09:55

@Coastaldreamer I was tracking this month with easy at home OPK's from CD7 to CD15 & on CD11 I got two lovely strong lines then after that day the tests faded x

Coastaldreamer · 24/02/2022 09:58

@allthingssparkly then all other things being equal you've already ovulated. I guess you have to do the digi and that will give you your answer x

stuntbubbles · 24/02/2022 10:00

@allthingssparkly If you ovulate late, your period will be late. Eg as follows:

28-day cycle, ovulation day 14, 14-day luteal phase.
Then if ovulation is randomly late one month, say it lands on day 22. Someone who doesn’t chart would assume their period is still going to come on day 29. But it won’t, because the luteal phase stays the same, 14 days. So ovulation on CD22 + 14-day luteal = period on CD37, or rather a 36-day cycle.

Ditto early ovulation, say CD10 + 14-day luteal = 24-day cycle and period on day 25.

Do you see what I’m getting at? If you’re ovulating late it won’t suddenly mean your luteal phase gets shortened, it doesn’t work like that: it means your period gets pushed back, by the length of your luteal phase. So if you are ovulating now, it’s not actual 7 days before AF, even if you’re normally regular. So therefore you have the same chance of conceiving as if you ovulated at any other time in your cycle.

allthingssparkly · 24/02/2022 10:01

@Coastaldreamer Thank you, maybe the test I've done isn't an early one I didn't even think to check 🙈 I'll hold out till the weekend, my period isn't due till Thursday next week so there's time yet. I'm just concerned that if I am ovulating again or whatever that I want to dtd to cover all bases. If only ttc was straight forward, never had all this hassle with my two children 😬😬😬

allthingssparkly · 24/02/2022 10:07

@stuntbubbles Ahh ok, so the luteal phase is always around 14 days? I think I get it 😊 You would think I'd know all this already having two children but I honestly don't because there was no TTC as such it happened super quickly 😬

So me and my partner best get down to business today then, let's hope I haven't missed the peak or whatever 🙈 😬

I'll take it as though I'm ovulating now, so if that's the case then when should I re test? Pregnancy not OPK.

Charl881 · 24/02/2022 10:07

Do you guys think there is any point in me investing in a FRER? 11dpo, no symptoms, and BFNs on cheapies (and BFN at 10dpo). Not sure whether just to wait for AF.

I’d like to have a drink tonight!

Coastaldreamer · 24/02/2022 10:09

@Charl881 personally I'd say save your money 💰 and wait for a few days xx but of course if it was me I would still do it so I totally get if you did xx

Charl881 · 24/02/2022 10:10

@allthingssparkly the luetal phase is always the same but for each person. So for me it might be 14 but for you it might be 13, others could be 16. It’s the first bit of the cycle that can change.

What happened to me once was I got an LH surge when I would usually get one but pretty sure I didn’t actually ovulate and then got a second LH surge later on in the month. Basically your body can gear up for ovulation then something stops it (in my case it was illness I think) so it tries again later in the cycle. The only way to really accurately tell you’ve ovulated is by tracking temperature, LH tests just give you an indication of when you have a surge.

Charl881 · 24/02/2022 10:11

@Coastaldreamer my issue is I’m on holiday from Friday - Monday so I’d need to wait until Monday evening before testing on one if I don’t get one today. But I do feel it’s just wasting money to be disappointed!

Charl881 · 24/02/2022 10:12

@Coastaldreamer technically you should wait 14 days after a positive LH then test but given this is an obsessive testers thread we all know that you’ll probably be testing in about 8 days time 😂

Charl881 · 24/02/2022 10:12

Oops that last one was meant for @allthingssparkly not @Coastaldreamer

Coastaldreamer · 24/02/2022 10:12

Maybe try another IC tomorrow before you go and then if it's BFN then you have your answer I guess?x

stuntbubbles · 24/02/2022 10:15

@allthingssparkly Luteal phase varies from person to person, 14 days is the textbook 28-day cycle you learn about in school that no one actually has Grin. But it’s always the same per person, give or take a day. Mine is always 12/13. From avid reading of TTC boards I’ve seen people conceive with a 9-day LP and a 15-day LP.

Assuming you’re ovulating tomorrow based on OPKs, just count forward and test in 10 days time? Or realistically in however many days you’d usually wait!

But bearing in mind without temping none of us truly know if we’ve ovulated – you could well get AF in 7 days meaning you ovulated a while back, and these current tests are one of the great mysteries of life!

@Charl881 I would save your money but have a drink anyway – drink till it’s pink is my rule. At this early stage if you were pregnant there’s no blood flow built up between you and the embryo so it’s fine.

allthingssparkly · 24/02/2022 10:17

@Charl881 so if I ovulated yesterday let's say, then I wait two weeks from then to test. Would I still have my period in between this time or not or would it come late? 🤔🤔

Charl881 · 24/02/2022 10:18

@allthingssparkly it would be late. But the same time from after you usually ovulate, so if you usually have 14 days between ovulation and period then you can expect it in 14 days time.

allthingssparkly · 24/02/2022 10:20

@Charl881 argh see that's what I'm unsure of is how many days I usually have between ovulation and my next period 😩😩

allthingssparkly · 24/02/2022 10:23

@stuntbubbles Thank you, so is it normal to have positive OPK's two mornings on the run like I have? Maybe I'll take this as that I'm ovulating then and see what happens 😬
