I’m desperate to get home from work and do another OPK. Considering driving home at lunch time 😂 but I’ll be disappointed if it’s flashing. I want my static smiley! Especially as I had every ovulation sign yesterday. I did test again before bed in case the surge was happening but it was still flashing :( ewcm seems to have dried up a bit today so maybe ovulation happened overnight, or I might get a peak test today.

PamelaDoov · 01/02/2022 10:00

@Ganesh2022 I’m on day 4 but it feels like 4 million… I’ve heard some people can have up to 10 days of flashing smiley. The idea of DTD for 10 days fills me with dread.

calimc83 · 01/02/2022 10:04

Just had an appointment with occupational health about my MC and had a good old cry yet again...ffs...😭😭 xx

arianasky · 01/02/2022 10:38

@calimc83 not getting my hopes up, ah I'm so sorry 😞 how are you? It's so hard to talk about isn't it 😞

Skl2021 · 01/02/2022 10:49

@Ganesh2022 @PamelaDoov hope you get your solid smileys soon! I have heard people get them for a few days tho! Good luck 🙌🤞 x

@calimc83 😩 I hope your ok. Sometimes it's good to have a cry it's incredibly tough to talk about. Were here if you need us 💕 xx

@calimc83 ouch. I'm sorry. It resurfaces, doesn't it. I had a good cry yesterday, too, remembering how I felt when we got the positive in December. Yesterday, someone at school baked homemade cookies for the class, and they have a newborn at home, and I cried to my husband that I can neither bake cookies nor do I have a newborn at home.

Bridgey8 · 01/02/2022 11:17

@Skl2021 I echo other comments... I think when they dry they look darker. Are you going to test again tomorrow?

Ganesh2022 · 01/02/2022 11:19

@PamelaDoov I'm actually also on day 4/4 million. Fingers crossed it goes solid for us SOON and that this is THE MONTH. Do you use cheapies also? I use cheapies to compare at the moment, and it's nowhere near positive...confused, as that's the more sensitive of the two tests.

Skl2021 · 01/02/2022 11:26

@Bridgey8 I'm just not feeling positive about it all. Think I'm comparing to other people and my last pregnancy I was getting strong lines like this at 9dpo. No I'm not going to test for a few days I only have one left now. Xx

@PamelaDoov, just did a little mumsnet digging and someone said this:

Perspective: several days of flashing smileys means you're having a decent estrogen surge, which means your body will produce fertile cervical mucus and build up a nice thick, healthy endometrium...

Obviously I have no idea if it's true...but...choosing to believe it for the minute

Ganesh2022 · 01/02/2022 11:29

@Skl2021 Have you asked about blood tests?

Ganesh2022 · 01/02/2022 11:32

Really noticing the awkward things people can say. Someone, apropos of nothing, told me at the weekend "you're smart to have stopped at two kids." I leaned into the awkwardness and said, actually I just miscarried. And I remember once asking someone, "have you enjoyed the bigger spacing this time?", to which she said "actually I had several losses between" :( Really making me think about the way people talk and how we can really step on something w/out meaning to...

Bridgey8 · 01/02/2022 11:40

@Ganesh2022 this reminds me of what happened to me at work after my miscarriage... I only drink decaf tea and a girl in the kitchen said - why do you drink decaf are you pregnant or something? And I just word vomited "actually I just miscarried" x

Skl2021 · 01/02/2022 12:03

@Ganesh2022 nope Im to scared. I'm in denial. X

PamelaDoov · 01/02/2022 12:53

@Bridgey8 why would anyone think it’s ok to say something like that!

Ganesh2022 · 01/02/2022 12:59

@Skl2021 I understand. I had a client who didn't know she was pregnant until the day she gave birth...I mean, what a massive shock and adjustment to have to make, bless her....but sometimes I wish that would happen to me...

Ganesh2022 · 01/02/2022 13:00

@Bridgey8 ugh :( It's been a real lesson to me to keep my mouth shut with stuff like that; even stuff that seems harmless can really hurt someone

calimc83 · 01/02/2022 13:05

I'm ok now, thanks everyone. It really does just hit you at times..x

Tofu35 · 01/02/2022 13:06

@bridgey8 I hope that person has this as a life lesson. 10 years later, she'll give someone a row for joking about pregnancy because of their conversation with you.

I used to give my husband a row for gossiping (just to me) about whether friends we know we're pregnant, because until they tell us, we don't know what's going on. Now it's happened to us, he understands what I mean!

JuniperAndTonic · 01/02/2022 13:18

Oh I know exactly what you mean about people saying the wrong thing! Just a couple of days ago someone at work asked me when I’m due! I think she’d head rumours about me trying to get pregnant (my workplace is like a rumour mill!) and just assumed I was. I told her “I’m not, I had a miscarriage in November so if it looks like I’m pregnant it’s because I’ve been comfort eating” I don’t think she knew what to say after that and I just changed the subject!!

Ganesh2022 · 01/02/2022 13:52

Ha, good comeback. I also wonder if sometimes people blurt stuff out b/c stuff is going on for them/they are dreading a pregnancy announcement and want to get it over with/get it out of someone. Still, not ok. Similar to asking why someone isn't drinking...it could be any number of reasons, none of which the person owes anyone an explanation for!.

Those who use cheapie opks...do they go up slowly or suddenly? I've forgotten and it's stressing me.

calimc83 · 01/02/2022 14:18

@Ganesh2022 mine seem to change quite suddenly. From nothing to very obvious x

JuniperAndTonic · 01/02/2022 14:24

@Ganesh2022 mine always change suddenly! They go from nothing to peak in about 24 hours usually!

Ganesh2022 · 01/02/2022 14:38

Thanks! Testing three times a day here I come....!

calimc83 · 01/02/2022 14:47

@Ganesh2022 when I say very quickly - for example I was negative on the Sat, Sunday was nearly positive and Monday positive x
