Pull out method

I know this is not a "method" to prevent pregnancy per say but I'm just wondering how many of you fell pregnant this way? My partner and I are currently using the withdrawal method as we're not actively trying but will be in the not too distant future. Just wondering how many of you guys out there fell pregnant this way? Is it a common occurrence or pretty rare still?

Yep.. me.. for years.. never used contraception.. its very easy to not get pregnant if you know when you are ovulating .. simple biology Hmm

My first child is a pull out baby. But equally I've used it for long periods of time without falling pregnant. Realistically if falling pregnant is something you're OK with then I'd say it's OK, if not then absolutely don't risk it.

The outcome of that method for me is about to turn 18! It doesn't work, but she is an absolute joy and we wouldn't be without her.

Where's the statistical evidence?
How do we know men haven't compromised the effectiveness of the withdrawal method by staying in that little too long?
I think it probably works well for some. Disciplined people who know their bodies well and are committed to not starting a pregnancy.

My parents did that method 🤣🤣

They were very keen I know this so that I don’t repeat their mistake (they did want kids! Just they didn’t expect me so soon 😬)

With perfect use (pull out every time, on time), 5% will be pregnant in a year. With typical use, 25% or thereabouts.

And yet 13 years of zero unwanted pregnancies for me. Suppose statistics just don't cover all the anomalies. Don't gamble if you can't afford to lose, as Granny would say, though.

A friend of mine swears by it- has used it for 14 years with her husband and had four planned pregnancies in that time- all on the only four times he didn’t withdraw. So I suppose it can work with the right combination of good luck, control on the mans part and timing (she tracks her cycles and maintains that she never has sex within three days either side of her predicted ovulation date). However I would be way too scared to do it myself.

@PerpetualStudent

They don’t have to jizz all over you though - haven’t you seen Bridgerton? Grin

To answer the question - DC1 came into our lives this way

Very questionable sex overall in that programme! 😂
