This is an evap line, isn’t it?

So, my period is a few days late and my boobs are killing me like they never normally do before my period. I’m not 100% sure how many days late I really am as my periods vary in length somewhat (always later in august too for some reason as it’s holiday time and that sends them out of whack for me) and I’m not trying to conceive so haven’t tracked anything. I’m on CD36 though and my periods have been 28-33 days over the last year.

Anyway, took a clear blue and it was reassuringly negative. It won’t be the end of the world if I’m pregnant but would be a shock. I left it on the side and over an hour later came downstairs again to see there was a distinct blue line. I always thought evaps were grey. So, wise mumsnetters, is there any chance this is a real positive or is it just a blue evap line?

My positive had a thin line like that, I'd say you're pregnant

Tiredtiredtired100 · 11/08/2021 20:40

@backtoworkigooo even though it was well outside of the timeframe?

GemGEmGemster · 11/08/2021 20:43

I think that’s a positive

hayley013 · 11/08/2021 20:43

I would take that as a positive

GrrRightBackAtYou · 11/08/2021 20:44

You can’t read it as a positive as the line came up after the time specified to read the results.
You will have to retest in a couple of days using FMU & read the test in the time as per instructions.

Tiredtiredtired100 · 11/08/2021 20:54

@GrrRightBackAtYou I know you’re right, but this really startled me as I’ve done a lot of pregnancy tests in my time that were negative and none have ever turned positive later on. This looks very like the real positive I got several years ago when I was pregnant with my son, but that came up immediately. I didn’t test until a week after my period was due though and have no real idea how late my current period is or isn’t.

Since your period is probably already late (or later than usual).I would just go straight to trying a digital to save all your wondering. Maybe with first wee tomorrow?
Good luck !

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 11/08/2021 21:31

I agree, I’d try a digital one

backtoworkigooo · 12/08/2021 07:49

It's quite a definitive line to show as an evap after the time limit

Firstbornunicorn · 12/08/2021 07:53

Do another today. I think that’s positive but obviously you can’t be sure. Hope it’s the result you want.

I'm having the same kind of issue! I've tried multiple different brand tests and I'm getting a faint line on all tests but very faint. My af is due in 2 days so I'm not sure what's going on. All pregnancy's before weather they have been successful or not have always been faint lines on the day my period was due.

Hold out a couple of days and do another clear blue or frer.
Digitalis didn't work for me until I was a full week late

Tiredtiredtired100 · 12/08/2021 13:58

Thanks for the advice everyone. I did a test a few days before with another brand that was pink dye and also negative, but I went and fished that out of the bin and it also had a very clear line (which was pink not grey like an evap should be). So two different brands of tests have given me a positive after the time, but not before 🤔

I am away visiting family this weekend so I am going to leave it until after the weekend to test again if my period hasn’t arrived. Mostly I think this is as I burying my head in the sand a bit but I think I need some time to get my head around the possibility I am actually pregnant. I will be happy but also shocked and my boyfriend will be supportive too so I’m not really worried, just a little stunned.

*p.s. that should say I fished the other test out of the bin after the clear blue one went positive.

Well, my period arrived this morning so I guess I was never pregnant or it was a chemical. I’m actually pretty upset, having got my head around the idea of being potentially pregnant, but que sera sera.

Could it be an implantation bleed or is it heavier like your normal period?

Tiredtiredtired100 · 14/08/2021 09:17

@backtoworkigooo I don’t really know if it could be an implantation bleed as my periods start light and get heavier. I did have bleeding when I was pregnant with my son too (several times in the first trimester) but all was ok and I had a perfectly healthy pregnancy. If the bleeding stays light or stops after a short time I will test again, but my gut tells me it’s not implantation and this was more likely a chemical pregnancy. Just the one blue evap and I would have thought it was just that, but the pink dye test also being positive after the time made me fairly convinced there was some HCG present.

Tiredtiredtired100 · 14/08/2021 19:45

Update: I’m positive this is my period, it’s light but not super light and I have had lighter ones I was sure were real periods. I’m pretty convinced now this was a chemical pregnancy, but if the bleeding doesn’t ever get heavy or stops soon I will take another PG test to be sure, as I did have bleeding in my previous pregnancy but I can’t recall whether I needed a pad or not, though I don’t think I did.

How are you @Tiredtiredtired100 ?

Tiredtiredtired100 · 20/08/2021 13:05

@backtoworkigooo thanks for checking, I feel fine actually. Whilst I could have got my head around being pregnant it wasn’t in the plan right now, so I’m seeing this as being a message that now isn’t the right time and i’m ok with that.

Middle test yesterday evening- was negative in time frame, no evap line

Bottom test this morning- was definitely negative in time frame, evap line

Hope this helps someone ! :)

This is an evap line, isn’t it?

backtoworkigooo · 25/08/2021 16:34

@Ffionn they're positive

StillJustWaiting · 26/08/2021 10:10

@backtoworkigooo unfortunately not :( they were evaporation lines! Madness isn't it!!! Xx

Bundaberg84 · 26/08/2021 10:14

@Ffionn how do you know they're negative if you just took the test?

StillJustWaiting · 26/08/2021 10:20

@Bundaberg84 my drs confirmed it was an evaporation line after doing a blood HCG test.

As I said, all lines came up after the time frame xxx

This is @Ffionn btw, just changed my user name on here ! Haha
