This is an evap line, isn’t it?

So, my period is a few days late and my boobs are killing me like they never normally do before my period. I’m not 100% sure how many days late I really am as my periods vary in length somewhat (always later in august too for some reason as it’s holiday time and that sends them out of whack for me) and I’m not trying to conceive so haven’t tracked anything. I’m on CD36 though and my periods have been 28-33 days over the last year.

Anyway, took a clear blue and it was reassuringly negative. It won’t be the end of the world if I’m pregnant but would be a shock. I left it on the side and over an hour later came downstairs again to see there was a distinct blue line. I always thought evaps were grey. So, wise mumsnetters, is there any chance this is a real positive or is it just a blue evap line?

@StillJustWaiting but when did you do the blood test then? Also yesterday?

StillJustWaiting · 26/08/2021 10:31

@Bundaberg84 if you read my post you will see that these tests are from Monday and Tuesday, i had a blood test Wednesday (yesterday) morning, and it's negative. However my drs do agree that it is very odd and have requested more bloods to run further tests for different things - thyroid, hormonal levels etc etc

Bundaberg84 · 26/08/2021 10:34

@StillJustWaiting I read your post. You didn't state when you did the bloodwork.
Just to give an insight, I had a chemical in February and while the test was positive one day, it was only a faint positive the next day and was negative the day after. Either way it sucks, sorry you had to go through that!

StillJustWaiting · 26/08/2021 10:43

@Bundaberg84 I apologise, the blood work was done yesterday morning.
I'm so sorry to hear that, its crap! Have you had a BFP since?? I had a miscarriage in February and it was awful!

Bundaberg84 · 26/08/2021 10:46

@StillJustWaiting no need for an apology :)

Yes, I had a BFP again in May, unfortunately it ended up being an ectopic. Well, third time's a charm, right?

StillJustWaiting · 26/08/2021 10:50

@Bundaberg84 Oh gosh! That's awful, i truly wish you the best of luck with getting a healthy BFP soon!! You're right, 3rd time lucky!! ❤️

@Ffionn that is definitely good to know as it does seem to be a brand that creates evaps. What really threw me is that a different brand (pink dye) also had a strong coloured evap line when I went back and checked that. 2bh I am fairly convinced I had a chemical (late period, symptoms I haven’t had since my last pregnancy, plus two pregnancy tests showing late coloured lines). Either way I’m ok with it and definitely won’t be buying a clear blue test ever again. I hope you get your BFP soon!

@Bethsmithy2021 probably best to start your own thread. FWIW I have had similar on months I definitely wasn’t pregnant but it could well be as extra discharge was a sign when I was pregnant (unplanned but I kept going to the toilet thinking my period had started).

So, for the sake of argument I took another clear blue test this morning, I’m mid-cycle and definitely not pregnant. I’ve attached the photos.

The test was a resounding negative as expected, during the correct time frame. An hour later it had a blue line as clear as day, so I guess my original post probably was an evap line too.
