@thislittlebird the motility on ours has really fluctuated. The hospital ones- some were ok and some weren't. Morphology was 4% though on all. But the ivf clinic do one and although the motility on that one was ok, the morphology was low! 🤦‍♀️

thislittlebird · 22/10/2021 10:39

@paintfairy yeah, where my DH has had poor to ok to above average morphology but consistently poor motility. It did get up to 26% at the last test but that’s still not where it should be, and the report said they didn’t move well. I’m not going to lie, I’m worried it’s an old/poor sperm issue but I’m hoping it’s more a egg and sperm don’t meet issue and ICSI will be ok.

paintfairy · 22/10/2021 10:43

@thislittlebird they've said they'll do ICSI for us. Just because they are taking no risks. They say my progesterone is low but I'm not so sure myself. I spot in my LP but it's never been low on the 'day 21' test. I even spotted on the 2nd round of iui with progesterone pessaries and my test was 90 odd too. Yet they keep telling me it must be low? I think they just can't be bothered to think about it being anything else?

Marvellouslymadmum · 22/10/2021 11:00

@thislittlebird sorry lovely, I know what you mean though as I'm exactly the same! I've just phoned the ward and spoken to a nurse who said count today as day 1 and she has booked me in on day 12 for my scan. So that means I start the clomid tomorrow but I was going to take them in the evening so I don't get the side effects so not sure what to do now 🤔
£770 is a lot of money per cycle of letrozole! It's so hard to know if it's best to go for it if it may work or not bother and put the money towards the ivf 🙄 it is good that you ovulated though, have you thought about ai? I know a lot of people do that with lazy swimmers as it gets them to the target quicker!

thislittlebird · 22/10/2021 13:15

@paintfairy hopefully ICSI will do the trick for you. I don’t spot, never spot, and definitely do have low progesterone naturally and suboptimal ovulation. I honestly think their knowledge on this whole progesterone/spotting/LP/ovulation area is very limited.

@Marvellouslymadmum yeah that’s what I thought they’d say about Day 1, but if you want to take them in the evening just start tomorrow night, it’ll be fine.

The Letrozole is about £5 or something and the rest is three scans! I don’t know why they can’t just do one or two scans based on my previous cycles which were very similar.

I don’t think IUI would work for us if this isn’t working, and it’s a bit more pricey too, so we’re doing timed intercourse instead. I think we might commit to one more month once AF arrives and then that takes us to the end of November and I don’t have to worry about a price cycle clashing with my DH’s 40th trip.

Motherofkittens28 · 22/10/2021 14:46

@thislittlebird, @Marvellouslymadmum, @crazycatlady1981 all good with the scan today, cervix length is fine so no immediate concerns. Baby was upside-down again and wriggling away, its the weirdest thing that you can't feel it all all at this stage even though it's more than 11cm long!
I really do hope it does give others hope, we were shocked to say the least to conceive naturally after everything but it did happen! I can't think of anything different apart from the covid shot and the norethisterone in the cycle before, who knows if they did anything. I firmly believe it will happen for all of you, its the waiting thats the killer xxx

Juno231 · 22/10/2021 15:31

@paintfairy I keep thinking it's interesting they never considered endo for you when spotting is a big symptom for it!

@thislittlebird I'm so sorry for the BFN but I agree that 3-4 cycles are probably needed to give it a fair shot. I'm so pleased you had a strong ovulation this time too! I agree with paintfairy that icsi should do the trick for you if OH's swimmers are slow.

Peak opk today and I'm so hungover that I was sick in the kitchen sink just before noon today... Good luck mustering the strength to BD nevermind convince OH that I'm attractive 🤣

paintfairy · 22/10/2021 15:50

@Juno231 completely agree. And I thought when I got to the ivf clinic someone there might be more interested! Nope! 🤷‍♀️

Marvellouslymadmum · 22/10/2021 16:43

@thislittlebird yes I may take in the evening not sure yet, wow that's some expensive scans! I think that's why the nhs are only doing one for me on the first month, seems a bit excessive to do so many

@Motherofkittens28 that's great news for you! So nice to think it will happen for everyone in time, let's hope that's what happens

@Juno231 hope you're feeling better later for you bding 😂

kerrym87 · 23/10/2021 06:22

@crazycatlady1981 it's when my progesterone peaks naturally 7-11dpo I feel so yak, sick and wiped out then when it goes I know AF on the way. @paintfairy and @thislittlebird we have MFI on top of my pcos/endo with counts ranging from 12 to 1 million per ml, morphology 2-3%and motility at best 30%. We're also having icsi but trying last go of letrozole this cycle about to start while we wait for next slot which is jan. Can't see how the buggers will swim all the way up by themselves when they won't trust them to swim 3cm in a dish....😂🤷‍♀️

thislittlebird · 23/10/2021 11:00

@Juno231 I’m really pleased about the ovulation too, it’s stupid but it shows my body having ZERO progesterone symptoms means nothing really, and i am able to produce it with a little help from Letrozole, Ovitrelle and a boost from Cyclogest.

@Marvellouslymadmum exactly, it’s the scans that add up. For some reason they won’t just do two lol. It always ends up with me having a third 🙄🙄🙄

@kerrym87 my DH’s count has been fine they’re just sluggish af. Highest motility so far has been 26%, lowest 9%. His last morphology was 8% after a few months on Impryl and ubiquinol, which was a surprise. Is Jan your IVF slot? Yeah, that’s a good point. How are they expected to make it to a Fallopian tube when they can’t be trusted wit that dish? Makes me feel better about my two failed Letrozole cycles lol

Theawkwardblonde · 23/10/2021 17:43

@Motherofkittens28 glad to hear the scan went well.

I'm still lurking and following you all in the hope of seeing more BFPs. Conscious not to post much whilst pregnant. Just want to drop in again and wish everyone well in their journeys and don't lose hope! ☺️

99pctpractice · 23/10/2021 21:27

hello - i hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread, but i wondered if i could ask for some advice. i'm in the middle of my second round of ivf (egg collection on Tues) and at my last scan, they saw some fluid on the uterus. she said it wasn't unusual as a result of stimulation, and if it had gone by the time of egg collection, we could still go ahead with the transfer, but if not we'd have to postpone transfer. just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this? or has any views on fresh vs frozen transfer? my last transfer was fresh, but even if the fluid has resolved itself, i'm tempted to freeze any embryos that there are (if there are any, i have low amh so it isn't a given) and then have a frozen transfer maybe in Nov instead, because i think if i had a fresh transfer that didn't result in pregnancy i would then just be convinced it was due to the fluid issue. but i'm not sure if there are any pros to fresh embryo transfer or how high the risks are that the embryos don't make it on defrosting if we go for a frozen transfer instead? i guess that maybe depends a bit on the quality of the embryos to begin with....

If anyone has any views, that would be much appreciated! Thank you!!

Marvellouslymadmum · 23/10/2021 22:35

@thislittlebird I'll probably get my bog standard one scan even if I need more lol

@Theawkwardblonde glad things are going well for you, I do like to hear the success stories from those on here who struggled but got there in the end, gives me hope!

@99pctpractice I can't help with the ivf questions I'm afraid but just wanted to say hi 👋🏻 I think we are on another thread together

OP posts:
kerrym87 · 24/10/2021 11:31

@thislittlebird I'm due period about mid Jan so they plan to do collection end Jan. Got to ring them with December period to plan definitive dates and get meds etc
@99pctpractice sorry this'll be my first so not a clue! You could ask the clinic that though they will advise what is best whether FET or fresh, mine said it'd depend on my response, what was safest and most likely to work as to which type of transfer x

Somatronic · 24/10/2021 12:20

Hi, looking to join if that's OK. I recognise a few names from another thread I'm on.

I'm 34, PCOS, dodgy thyroid, been having help with fertility for 14 months now. Not so much as a hint of of BFP in that time.

I'm on metformin, had 3 rounds of clomid and just got AF today after my second round of letrozole so presumably that isn't going to work for me either. I have another round to go and then I don't know what to do.

Hope everyone is well!

Sunbird24 · 24/10/2021 19:43

Hi @Somatronic, sorry you’re on the donkey cart too

feliznavidad2 · 24/10/2021 21:05

Hi @Somatronic 👋🏻 welcome.

feliznavidad2 · 25/10/2021 08:51

8dpo, slight spotting again and cramps. There is still a tiny tiny bit of me that likes to think it's maybe implantation 🙈 when will I learn?

I flit between that and doom and gloom of my silly spotting uterus.

Sunbird24 · 25/10/2021 09:38

The consultant has my genetic testing results back (8 weeks!) but if I wait for an appointment with him it won’t be til 24 Nov, which puts me into Dec for my next transfer, and that’s only if my fuckboy body doesn’t decide to ovulate on Christmas Day! Have asked for a nurse practitioner instead, hopefully I’ll be able to go for a Nov transfer, depending on the test results…

paintfairy · 25/10/2021 10:26

@Sunbird24 donkey cart 🤣
Oh that's annoying timing wise. Especially when it means waiting ages because of Christmas then!
@Somatronic welcome!

99pctpractice · 25/10/2021 13:12

Hi @Marvellouslymadmum - nice to see you here :)

Thanks @kerrym87 Yes, I think I’ll have another chat with the clinic. I am a bit paranoid that my embryos may not be good enough quality to survive the freeze / defrost, but there’s not much I can do about it but wait and see!!!

thislittlebird · 25/10/2021 19:03

@kerrym87 oh god, I wish my clinic was more organised. They don’t seem to tell you anything until the last minute, it’s stressful. All I get told is where they’re up to on the waiting list. They’re on June patients now, I was added in August. Does your clinic shut for Christmas? Mine does.

@99pctpractice hi, I haven’t started IVF yet but understanding from podcasts and articles is fresh vs frozen has quite comparable success rates. Definitely ask your clinic to advise. Good luck tomorrow!

@Sunbird24 the waiting for everything is horrendous. Does your clinic stay open in late December? I can’t have ivf until late January because of the stupid 30 November cut off for treatment at Guys.

@Somatronic welcome, I’m in the probably not ovulating properly/pcos donkey cart too 🙌 second round of Letrozole just failed here, I am awaiting AF and probably giving another (private 🙄) round a go because I’m a glutton for punishment.

paintfairy · 25/10/2021 19:04

@thislittlebird I think all close for Christmas. Mine does.
@Juno231 good luck for your first appointment tomorrow!

Sunbird24 · 25/10/2021 19:13

@thislittlebird yes, I assume so. If I don’t transfer in Nov I’ll be 44 by the time I ovulate in January!
