Feeling a bit down in the dumps after AF turned up at the end of cycle 4. I know it's not a long time to try for, I know. Apparently up to a year is perfectly normal. But it's just so hard getting your hopes up to then get a big AF-shaped slap in the face.

How long did it take you to get your BFP when trying for your first baby?

9 months.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 20/05/2021 09:30

3 years and a round of ivf

Iworry2021 · 20/05/2021 09:31

dc1 only 1 month. He's 9 months old.

We've started ttc dc2 at the beginning of this year and got lucky on cycle 2, which unfortunately ended in early miscarriage. 2 unsuccessful cycles after that and I'm currently in the 2ww of cycle 3 after miscarriage.

So it can really vary with individual pregnancies and a lot of it comes down to luck.

I hope you get your Bfp soon xx. Lots of babydust to us 💫

Nearly 4 years here and just going through IVF...4 cycles is really not a long time at all!!

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, try not to stress (easier said than done I know) and my advice would be don’t let it consume you. You hopefully will get there it just takes time! Good luck.

girlmama32 · 20/05/2021 09:36

10 months

Frandler · 20/05/2021 09:36

@pizzaobsessed you're not alone. We've been trying exactly the same amount of time as you and there's always that little bit of hope that it'll just happen!

I got really down last cycle, this cycle I'm just going to try and keep it casual and not pressure myself. We're all different but fingers crossed we'll get the good news soon 😌x

2.5years, 4 rounds of clomid. Sadly my daughter was born sleeping at 4months

Goodtohear · 20/05/2021 09:40

Four years, ended up having fertility treatment.

Dollywilde · 20/05/2021 09:44

Cycle 9, 10 months all in. I was worried as if basically convinced myself that you either fall pregnant in the first 3 months or you wind up taking years and needing fertility treatment but there’s plenty of us in the 3 - 12 cycles window who got our BFPs. Be kind to yourself but try not to get too disheartened, my cycle 4 AF turned up the day before our wedding anniversary and I really let it spoil the day. Was in my third trimester by the time our anniversary rocked around again!

NatMoz · 20/05/2021 09:44

7 months, got pregnant, miscarried then got pregnant again straight after and currently about 10 weeks pregnant.

Dollywilde · 20/05/2021 09:45

*as I’d

Pyewackect · 20/05/2021 09:47

2weeks. Honeymoon. Totally unplanned. Too much sun and Bacardi.

mummabear20202022 · 20/05/2021 10:54

2.5 years, one round of clomid!

Orangeeez · 20/05/2021 11:06

Still trying for no.1 .... 20 months ttc!

pizzaobsessed · 20/05/2021 11:37

Thanks for your responses, I don't feel alone now. I'm so sorry to hear some of you have lost babies and you're still trying. You are warriors given I'm fed up at 4 months! I guess I was just naive to think it would happen quickly - all that sex ed when they told you it was sooooo easy to get pregnant Hmm

@Frandler it's great to hear from someone in exactly the same boat! I've ordered some digital opks for next cycle to double check if I'm actually ovulating. If I am then I think I'll stop tracking all of it on the app I've got and see what happens. I thought having a busy job wfh and plenty to fill my evenings and weekends, would stop me becoming obsessed. Wrong-o! Blush

I'm so sorry @rainbowbabybump I can't imagine how horrific it's been. Sending lots of love

@pizzaobsessed at the end of cycle 4 last month I sort of accepted the fact that it's perfectly normal to take around a year or more. I bought myself a menstrual cup (I hadn't had periods for 6 years on the implant but had accepted I'm now going to have quite a few), became less obsessed with OPKs, and was looking forward to my holiday next week knowing I'd be enjoying a few drinks and that the timing fell nicely for my next fertile week.

I got my BFP on Tuesday!

It's absolutely infuriating when people say "relax and it will happen", and I don't think that's necessarily what happened to me. I think I just appreciated it's a journey and then got a lovely surprise.

pizzaobsessed · 20/05/2021 12:36

@TTCAli that's such a lovely way for things to turn out. I'd love to almost forget we're ttc so I guess once I've satisfied myself that I'm ovulating, I will try and drop everything and give up tracking. Thank you for sharing and a huge congratulations on getting your BFP Grin

6 weeks.

I haven't started TTC a second yet but I already worry that for some reason it will take ages or not happen at all.

Peachypips78 · 20/05/2021 13:13

Nearly a year. DS2 was first time!

choccrumpet · 20/05/2021 16:08

Our 10th month in and still trying! Lovely to read some of these responses, gives me hope

Mylittlepony374 · 20/05/2021 16:11

5 years. Found out I was pregnant by the compulsory pregnancy test in the hospital before invasive fertility investigations.
Accidentally got pregnant with number 2 when number 1 was 11 months old and still breastfeeding.
I wish you luck.
