Cosybear · 04/11/2004 21:25

Hello everyone ,
AAAARRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did three tests last night and one this morning and all BFP!!! I am 37 and this is my first pregnancy - i am terrified !!!! hope this is normal !!!????????

Has all been a big shock cause this was the first month of trying - hope you all don't hate me !
I have a 27/28 day cycle and today is day 27! My boobs have been sore and heavy for over a week - was trying not to think about it too much !

I used the Medisave OPK's and it was +ve for 3 days and only bd'd 3 times .

Did a medisave ultra sensitive test last night and got a very faint line and rushed out to buy and First response and locked myself out the house in the panic - DH was out had to do test in my neighbours house as she saw what a state i was in !!!!

Please anyone tell me it is normal to feel so terrified at this stage , it is all so hard to take in . !!!! I have 4 cats and hope i can cope with it all !
Keeping it quiet just now (v hard ) as it is so early on but have told my mum and DH parents !!!!!!!!!!!! oops.

Loads and loads of babydust to you all
++*++++++++** xxx

Cosybear · 04/11/2004 21:29

Congrats Cosybear - don't hate you at all (well not much anyway! )

Thanks for the baby dust - need all we can get!

Think it is quite common to be terrified - you're not that odd!

mariella · 04/11/2004 22:05

congratulations cosybear and cyndii!
well i have continued feeling really wierd all day, funny tummy, heavy abdomen, and crampy feelings. only on day 20 so don't know what it all means. crampy feeling is strange, i don;t remember getting that before. of course i've convinced myself that it is because i have an ectopic pregnancy lol! didn't feel like this with any of the others, i didn't really pay attention with any of the others, just stopped using contraception and withina few months realised one day i was late, did a test and that was it! none of this counting and wondering if i was ovulating and waiting to test etc. life was simpler then!
so if i had an ectopic when would i start to get pains?!

Bibi20 · 04/11/2004 22:11

MunzieB - (whispering back) I learnt about checking cervix in Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler (or similar surname - too lazy to go and find book to check spelling!) It's not for the faint-hearted but a useful check if you're up for it!

When you are ovulating your cervix gets higher, it softens and is quite open - this is so that it's in the optimum place and state for swimmers to get through (clever eh?). Before and after ovulation it is lower, harder (like the end of your nose feels, sort of cartilidgey) and closed.

To check it you need to do a self James Herriot (although shouldn't need to remove watch / roll up sleeves!). Have a good feel around and see if you can find it. It will probably take a number of attempts over a few days to be sure - have a go at different times of your cycle and you'll feel the difference.

By the way you should pick one position for checking (e.g. standing with one leg on the bath or crouching down or whatever) and use that one all the time so that you're comparing like with like. It's easier to find it when you're crouching but not so convenient!

Happy hunting!

LMAO bibi, well thanks for making me smile hon! lol. (i'll have to remeber to sut the curtains then when I do that in the bathroom, (our neighbours are a bit pervy) and had great delight in telling us on a social occassion that they could tell who was in our shower but the silouette in the window. DH is 6'3 and i'm 5'2 but still it was rather rude. (that window is now covered when in use!)

BeckiF · 04/11/2004 22:36

Congrats Cosybear! Envious ?? Only very! You'll be fine!

Bibi20 · 04/11/2004 22:36

How embarrassing!! Enough to put you off having joint showers for life!

Can hear dh snoring from here so think it's time for me to retire - having my hormone blood tests re-done tomorrow morning - joy.

x

MunnzieB · 04/11/2004 22:37

good luck hon. i'll keep my fingers crossed, give him a bit of a kick, and he'll stop the snoring! lol.

Morning All! Congratulations to Cyndi and Cosybear Cosybear - well done on first time! I did that with my ds2 and was SOOOOOOOOO shocked. On cycle 2 this month of trying for number 3.
I am cd18. Feel great. No pg symptoms. Don't feel pg, although it might be a bit early to feel anything. I am assuming already that this cycle is not the one.

MunnzieB · 05/11/2004 07:54

Morning Girls,

well AF showed up today. so it looks like I have a definate 26 day cycle, (quite good as i can't recall being that regular before the pill) at least now I can start a fresh one and track it properly!

MunnzieB · 05/11/2004 07:58

any one else test this week? (fingers crossed for those who are)

hester · 05/11/2004 08:10

Cosybear! Of COURSE we don't hate you - I LOVE you for proving that us, um (cough), more mature ladies can be buzzing with fertility! Of course you're a mere infant compared to jeddah and I, the grande dames of the ttc thread (and let's have a little more respect from the rest of you for your elders and betters, please ), but seriously, it's fantastic news and huge congratulations on being the third graduate from this thread. You must be thrilled!

I think this might mean that this thread is turning into another lucky one! Anyone dare make a prediction?

Btw, Cosybear, I think fear and ambivalence are completely normal and a healthy sign that you have a mature appreciation of the life-changing experience that is ahead. All the fears and disadvantages can be so real and obvious, and the rewards so abstract at this stage, but when you hold your baby in your arms...

Jeddah, it's SO great for me to have you on here . I've had some fertility tests - normal blood tests, scan and HSG - all looked fine. The only thing that really worries me is my lack of fertile CM (not helped by last month trying one of those microscope thingies and finding no ferning whatsoever..). Oh, and my groaning old eggs. It's impossible to know whether there's a problem or not. At our age, it really can take a year or two. Or it can be too late. And the standard tests can't tell you which.

Tania - you around?
