if it appears after 7 minutes is it possitive?

I took a cheapy test this morning and got a positive after about 7 minutes, it wasnt a faint line either. But then i used a clearblue with the same urine sample and it came up negative. Although there were numerous blue spots dotted all over the result window.

The cheap tests, test 25 miu and im 3 days late for period.

which do i believe?

did another one and there was te faintest line I ever did see after about 5 minutes, that faint i dont know if there was colour in it, so now what? lol

I think you'll have to wait another day or two! That will increase your hcg if such there is...

I would say you are probably pregnant, but I dont want to get your hopes up!
Remember, if the line is there and the right colour there must be HCG in your urine, and it is later in the day, so your urine is probably more diluted, also the hormones are not as strong in the afternoon as the EMU.
I'd just wait, cross my fingers and keep testing if your period doesnt come in the next day or two.

VictorianSqualor, rage mentioned cheapy tests and (I thought tesco, but re read & it was clear blue). I meant the tesco ones to be 'proper' not cheapy ifswim.

I have meany time been ttc and held up tests to light, stared under light bulbs, seen lines appear - is it a line or isn't it? etc etc. I know how it is. I have in my time had plenty of faint lines which were evap lines. I've driven myself crazy. I truly understand how it is, but the only answer if unfortunately wait and retest with 1st wee of day to be sure.

do we know when af due? not too early to test. just going by my pathetic experience, I've had a lot of wishful thinking lines in my time

Are you testing again with first morning wee rage, and will you be dipping or trying to to wee on the test? I'm like you I prefer to dip. I may go look at that website someone gave!!!

Good luck for when you test, it sounds like a BFP to me!

I tested the day I was due it sounds funny but I felt PG my boobs had grown and I just knew weird I know! so I did a test and it was the fainted + ever you had to hold it to the light then that night I had pink discharge Sorry TMI so though my body was having a game with me got very upset cryng the works put a pad in went to bed the next morning nothing so tested again but not with first wee as didnt expect to need to and again a faint + but more than the first time I had a really bad back ache and felt crap so on the Monday went to the EPU as had more pink and they tested and even on their test it was really faint they did a blood test and I had Hg there so they knew I was PG but still had pink discharge and a horrid back so I had to go back 2 weeks later and have an internal scan (not nice) and there it was my little bud with a heart beat I am 15+2 today and still have the horrid back ache and have twice had the pink discharge once at 13 weeks and again on Saturday which makes me completely panic but I had a scan at 12 weeks and then again at 13 and my bud looked fine and they had no idea why I am having problems I get a heart monitor tomorrow one like the midwifes have so that will reassure me as well as having a private scan on Saturday when I am 16 weeks to make sure all is ok.

There I bet you wish you had never asked lol I do hope your positive gets strong tomorrow remember if your pot testing do it straight away before the hormones start breaking down! Good luck

I did a test 4 days before my period was due with a first response, and got a really faint dot straight away, and totally knew i was. Next morning, I ran out to tesco and bought a tescos own and a digital clear blue. The clear blue said pregnant and the tescos own was very strong positive straight away. That was 3 days before my period was due.

Have you still not had AF though? You said you were 3 days late on Monday? There is still hope until you get AF I'd say. Fingers crossed for you! x

hi everyone, i did a test yesterday which was clear blue it came back with a very thin pencil line to say i was pregnant, i then did another this morning which came back negative, i was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this and whether u can get a false possitive cus i know u can get false negatives....can anyone help????

hi nicki, yes this can happen. it may be for a number of reasons:

  1. tyey were diff brand of tests and measure diff quantities of hcg. you may be very very early and only have very low levels that he most sensitive tests pick up.
  2. you used more diluted urine the 2nd time
  3. you read the first test too late and it was an evaporation line
  4. and this is WORST case scenario, others are much more likely... it was a blighted ovum or in most serious cases irregular preg test results can be a sign of ectopic.

please please understand that last point is EXTREMELY rare and much more likely to be other reasons. how late are you? maybe re-take in a couple of days (i know its a hrad wait). if you are really worried contact you dr and ask for beta hcg blood tests to be done at 48 hr intervals?

Clearblue standard (non-digital tests) have a known issue that a small number have false positives.

These lines are very thin and are off centre (to the left I think), if you ring the Clearblue UK Helpline 08705 673514 and give them the batch number off the box, they can confirm this.

Plus if you complain when you ring up, they will sent you a digital test as a replacement.

thankyou for ur help both of you, my period isnt due for 3 days but me boobs tingle and i feel different so not sure....
i will ring the clearblue helpline and see what they say but u r right about the thin line being off centre.

i might go for the blood test as i had a misscarge bout 5 months ago which they thought was eptopic but was a slow miscarge...(dont think that spelt right )
