I took a cheapy test this morning and got a positive after about 7 minutes, it wasnt a faint line either. But then i used a clearblue with the same urine sample and it came up negative. Although there were numerous blue spots dotted all over the result window.

The cheap tests, test 25 miu and im 3 days late for period.

which do i believe?

it probably is fine, just wanted to share what happened with mine incase it helped, IYSWIM? dont be ! do you feel pg? you obviously really want one

VictorianSqualor · 05/11/2007 13:10

I used tesco cheapy tests this time, took a few minutes for a faint line, but then it got darker, and I am 18weeks now.
So I'd just keep trying.
Chepay tesco tests, from what I've read on here are quite reliable.
See this thread.

rage · 05/11/2007 13:11

not really, but then i dont know! lol i probably will now, but it will all be in my head!

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 05/11/2007 13:11

Just saw the sample time too, test again, actually in your stream of wee.
Thats probably whats messing it all up.
Best to do straight away, go and get a test now

rage · 05/11/2007 13:19

I thought dipping it was the best way, I always wee on myself

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 05/11/2007 13:20

hold it quite near the front and close iyswim?

rage · 05/11/2007 13:21

i'd still wee on myself lol

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 05/11/2007 13:22

well good luck anyway and dont get stressed, is bad for you and baby!

VictorianSqualor · 05/11/2007 13:24

Tis only wee, and it will give a better result, if you're worried about wee on your hand, get some marigolds with the test, now go test again!

rage · 05/11/2007 13:26

honestly? you get a better result weeing rather than dipping?

is that why its 5 seconds for wee and 10 for dip?

Pollyanna · 05/11/2007 13:27

I think wait a couple more days. I got a negative with an expensive clear blue digital (and I knew really that I was pregnant), and a couple of days later a postive with a cheapy asda one.

rage · 05/11/2007 13:29

i'll see if dp will let me and let you all know later thanks for all your help everyone xxxx

The Hormones in thewee start to breakdown straight away so wee an hour old would give a fainter test! I tested with a tesco test the day my period was due and it was a v faint line after 5 mins so i think they are not as strong as something like first response. I would test again in the wee stream or straight away in a pot Good luck

Flightthebluetouchpaper · 05/11/2007 13:35

Oh how annoying! I hated all the test differences. I will say that I got a very, very can't see it unless you squint type positive one day and the next day it was full on, that was a predictor (pink dot) and the next day was a cheapy one from Wilkinsons that came up immediately.
They are all so variable.
Hope you get what you want either way!!

Ps was the line 'pinkish' or just grey? If no colour it was an evap, they don't count but are not usually very strong.

rage · 05/11/2007 14:45

nope it was very pink and still is now havent been out yet but have been holding mywee in for ages!! (desperate!!)

Flier · 05/11/2007 14:48

I always understood that you can't get a false positive, just a false negative result.

rage · 05/11/2007 14:50

I heard that too and I have 1 of them I just dont know which

OP posts:
ernest · 05/11/2007 15:19

after a few minutes a line can come up which is to do with it drying out. I have also had this. They say not to read them later for this reason. I'd take it as a negative, esp as the 'proper' test says negative, I wouldn't bother with a doctors appt. and blood test, just get another 'proper' test and do a test 1st thing in the morning

rage · 05/11/2007 16:08

it came up before the 10 minute deadline, but ok ill take it as a negative

Flightthebluetouchpaper · 05/11/2007 16:19

Nawwwww... an 'evap' line is always grey or colourless.

Flightthebluetouchpaper · 05/11/2007 16:20

I really don't think an hour matters. Honestly. It should not be pink if there's no hcg there.
I love babies, hope it is a BFP!

VictorianSqualor · 05/11/2007 16:21

ernest, tesco cheapy tests are 'proper' tests! I have done all kinds of tests with my three pregnancies, and the tescos ones were probably the most reliable.

laura032004 · 05/11/2007 16:24

Haven't read whole thread, but with DS2 I was sure I was pg. Did the test, no positive at three minutes. Was really upset, as felt v.pg. Pottered round, then went to throw the test in the bin. Positive line was there after about 10 minutes. Turned out I'd got my dates mixed up, and was just a few days pregnant (felt very ill from early on!). Tested again 3 days later - strong quick positive.

Same thing happened to a friend. Her line appeared quite a bit later than the guidelines said. About 15 minutes I think.

Fingers crossed
