Does anyone else feel like you’re just constantly trying and it doesn’t happen!? My cycles are never regular so I don’t know when I ovulate..I have sex every other day and it just doesn’t happen. Been trying for 9 months and nothing.
Starting to get me down and I feel like it’s never going to happen for me Sad

This has been me for the last 3 years! Finally decided to go for ivf but I have pcos so it just wasn't happening naturally.
Have you ever had your irregular cycles investigated ?

Dede23 · 10/01/2021 20:48

To be honest I'm not sure how long we have to wait in order to find out why we aren't getting pregnant??
It's such a horrible feeling after trying for so long and still nothing. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!

Usually 12 months, but might be sooner if you're over 35 but I'm not 100% on that.
Have your periods always been irregular? Thank you!

Thumbellini · 10/01/2021 21:00

Do you use ovulation sticks? Or perhaps temping would work for you? I have odd cycles and ovulation sticks worked for me. Around the year mark you can go to the GP and request bloods to make sure you are ovulating etc. Try not to be too disheartened, easier said than done I know but it can easily take up to a year for some people to conceive without any issues.

babypleasenow · 10/01/2021 21:06

I'm with you. We're taking a month off next cycle, just want a month of no stress and pressure. It's just so painful getting your hopes up, spending so much time reading online, convincing yourself that you have symptoms. FOR NOTHING.

I'm really sorry, this probably hasn't improved your mood but i really feel the same. Ughhhh I just want to curl up in a ball and sob 😭 (gets own violin out)!

I'm 24 so still very young! Always had irregular periods that were quite heavy but the last few months they have seemed to get a bit lighter!

I have tried ovulation sticks and only 2 or 3 have came back with a positive result and I kind of gave up with them when one month I didn't seem to ovulate

Honestly I know exactly how you feel! All I can think about it "what the hell is wrong with me?!" So worried that I won't be able to do this naturally and it's a very scary thought!

Yep, since July for us but i know in the grand scheme of things it isn’t that long. Experts say if you haven’t been successful after a year of trying then go to your doctor (6 months if over 35). I bought a cheap box of OPK tests on eBay and I’m ashamed to admit I haven’t been consistent with them. As of next month (if I’m not successful this month) I’ll be testing every morning from around day 11 onwards. Good luck!

babypleasenow · 10/01/2021 21:21

@Dede23 me too. I've just seen we are of a similar age, I'm 23 so glad I'm not alone. I always thought I'd have age on my side but nope 11months of not even a hint of a second line. Ughhh :(

Definitely not alone. I'm sure there are loads of women out there of our age that are struggling as well!
It does make you wonder why it's not happening though. Do you also have irregular periods? And have you had any tests to see why you're struggling?

@Dede23 yeah that's true. It does feel like I'm the only one who can't fall pregnant though, especially at the moment! And my periods are regular, and I get positive OPKS so I really have no idea what the problem is. My doctor said he will start investigations in Feb, so not too long to wait. Not sure if if wanna know what's wrong :(

1992EM · 10/01/2021 21:36

@dede23 I feel the same . Cycle 9 trying to conceive and just doesn't seem to be happening. I have regular cycles and do opks and have tried smep but not had any luck. I have got to a point now I just assume AF will show and don't bother testing anymore as it was so depressing to see negatives .

I feel exactly the same! At least you're headed in the right direction for some kind of answer! We both need to keep positive and keep our fingers crossed that it will happen soon!!

I find it so strange when you have regular periods and positive OPKS.
I have everything crossed for you & hopefully this year will be our year to conceive our miracles!!

@1992EM sorry you’re struggling. It’s so disheartening when it feels like everyone else gets their BFP first time trying. I know what you mean, I’ve decided to chill out a bit with the obsessive testing before AF. If she comes then ok we will just start again next cycle! What is smep?

GrapefruitGin · 10/01/2021 21:43

Lots of positive vibes for 2021 babies for us all.

1992EM · 10/01/2021 22:49

@dede23 thank you . Fingers crossed this will be our year . I am now 2 dpo so again in the 2ww . x

@Grapefruitgin I love your name 🤣. Thank you. Being more laid back has definitely helped. Don't get me wrong. I am still devastated when AF shows but previously I have obsessively tested and it just isn't healthy, well for me anyway. SMEP is the sperm meets egg plan . From what I understand you dtd every second day from cd8 and then when you ovulate you dtd for 2 or 3 days in a row . I don't necessarily stick as rigidly as that but we try to dtd as much as possible in that time so we have the best chance. Hopefully we will all see BFP soon 💕

GrapefruitGin · 10/01/2021 22:59

@1992EM ironic as I haven’t enjoyed gin for ages and hopefully won’t be for the next 9 months too 😉. Thanks for explaining, just when I thought I was so clued up on baby making lol, I’ll look into that too. Although I really want to attempt to just go at it as much as poss (lucky him!) without thinking about it too much... easier said than done

ls0127 · 11/01/2021 00:10

I'm 24 and have been trying for 6 months. The first 4 were honestly the hardest for me, especially when friends and family have been able to conceive with ease! Sex every other day and used opks for past 3 cycles with no clear positive, last cycle was over 50 days :( Fingers crossed we all get there soon!

1992EM · 11/01/2021 00:48

@grapefruitgin Fingers crossed to 9 months of no drinking 💕. I only found out about it on cycle 8 . it is hard going so this time we just did it when we wanted but as regular as possible🤣. I do find at time dtd can become a chore so best to keep it exciting . 🙌 where are you due AF?

@is0127 So sorry to hear that . it can be so hard especially when everyone around you seems to be pregnant. I find even adverts are about babies or pregnancy. What I hold onto is a lot of the time we don't know the journey someone has went through to get their bfp. It is a forbidden subject that not many people share in real life. I know for one I haven't told anyone we are ttc as personally didn't want anyone asking questions constantly.

GrapefruitGin · 11/01/2021 09:28

@1992EM I’m on day24 so should be around 20th, I’ve been off any contraception for over a year now so my body is pretty regular by now. I know, it can feel like work sometimes! You’re right, shouldn’t assume everyone else got lucky first time trying but it can feel that way sometimes. It’ll be us soon, I hope 🤞🏼

AHPforthe123 · 11/01/2021 09:30

Hey @Dede23. Took me 10 months to conceive DS1 and 12 months for DS2 (17 weeks old), I’ve just turned 35. I had irregular cycles and ov late. The best thing I did was buy Ovusense. Pricey but worth it. Now more peeing on ov sticks or guessing about ov and they have a fb group. Good luck.

AHPforthe123 · 11/01/2021 09:31

1992EM · 11/01/2021 10:06

@grapefruitgin I am cycle day 19 and due 22nd so not to far off each other. Fingers crossed this is our month . I feel the same with announcements, especially as I have had a few people I know who have fell pregnant by accident. God knows how they manage to do that 🙈. I feel like I need a degree in ttc 🤣x
