Hi ladies,

I’m new to this and would really appreciate your help. This is my first month TTC. I’m currently on CD4 so still middle of my period. Just wondering what helped you all conceive in your first month of trying and any tips you have. I have clearblue OPK ready and have been tracking my cycles for a which vary from 27-34 day cycles with 2 random 45 day cycles one of them being my last cycle.

Anyone else TTC this month?

Thanks in advance x

The stats are confusing, I read that you only have a 1 in 4 chance of conceiving each month even if you do everything right. Having said that, my oldest friend did indeed conceive her first in the first cycle, hopefully her luck will rub off on us all!

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 15:04

Hi All,

Hoping to join the chat!

Took my last pill 4 weeks ago and been TTC this week for our first.

I've had some crazy symptoms from coming off the mini pill and am still waiting for a proper AF :( Only some light spotting of brown discharge (Sorry TMI) and no luck of AF arriving yet :(

I've added everything/all symptoms to a new app I downloaded called clue. I've been on the mini pill/depo injection for 10 years with no breaks/no periods so no idea of what my cycles would be like!

Also have been taking seven seas TTC for the past 2 weeks!

I was so excited to start trying but only a few weeks in and i'm already stressing over it all! :(

Any advice/support will be great :)

Good luck to you all!!

FieldView · 07/01/2021 15:45

Welcome @Delilah221!

I totally understand! I came off the combined pill in September or October. Having been on BC for 17 years with no breaks I had no idea what my cycles would be like! Turns out they're really long (around 35 days). I think things take a little while to settle down.

It's very difficult not to stress, particularly when it's the first cycle I think.

Are you using OPKs at all or just the app for now?

Eaststreet · 07/01/2021 15:49

@Delilah221 Welcome Smile

It’s such an exciting time for us all but I totally feel your frustration and the stress already.
I had my implant out end of September and December was the first month I had what I’d call a normal cycle. I think it may take a bit of time for your body to adjust again, it did with me.
I’d definitely recommend tracking everything though, it’s really helped me to be able to now see I’m in a regular cycle again. Mine was all over the place in October and November. I think the number one bit of advice at this stage is to try and relax about it all, I know it’s hard but I feel a lot better after I tell myself to chill out a bit. It’s very easy to get wrapped up in it all.

Everyone in this thread seems to be so supportive and at the same stage and I feel a lot better already about everything just knowing there’s some people out there in a similar position.

shannonl26 · 07/01/2021 15:58

@Delilah221welcome to the madness!!

I’ve been to see my friend today (doorstep chat social distancing) who’s about to turn 19 weeks pregnant with her first & if anything it’s made me more obsessed! I’m getting impatient before anything has evening happened Grin

How are we all feeling this evening ?

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 16:00

@FieldView - Thank you for the welcome! Ah it's frustrating isn't it. Especially not having a clue about cycles pre-contraception! I'm really trying to relax about it all but as everyone says, easier said than done!
I'm just using the app, as i wanted somewhere to put my symptoms and odd days of spotting etc. According to the app, this week is my fertile window, and i had some ovulation CM (TMI) that i'd read about, and thought oh wow maybe there's some truth in the app lol, so we DTD a couple of days ago, but then had spotting again today :( Just so confusing!

@Eaststreet - Thank you!! :) Yes, I'm really trying to be more laid back about it, but it's hard to just relax and DTD as i keep getting random days of spotting so nervous to just go for it as the spotting is so unexpected!
I just keep trying to tell myself it's only been 1 month so to give it some time. But i'd like to keep tracking to keep up to date on my symptoms etc. I also have had incredibly sore boobs for the past few days, but assumed that it was another symptom of post pill hormones!

I already feel better today having spoke openly on here, and everyone is so lovely!!

Wishing you all best of luck!

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 16:03

@shannonl26 - Thank you!!

Aww, it's so hard not to get excited about it all though isn't it! Especially with friends and family having babies! I just can't wait to finally get a BFP but it feels so far away yet!

Best of luck, hope you get yours soon!!

Eaststreet · 07/01/2021 16:11

@Delilah221 I think the apps are great and mine has been quite accurate (Flo is only one day out on my ovulation) but I know friends who it’s been very inaccurate for too.
I ordered some opk’s and I honestly feel so much better since using them, I feel like I’ve taken a bit more control over the whole thing. Even though I had a pretty (ish) good idea when I would be ovulating. I’d maybe recommend them and see how you get on. Wishing you the best of luck!

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 16:16

@Eaststreet - I only downloaded it to add in all the odd days of spotting etc, but i got really into it with all the other features so it's now made me more aware of tracking things lol.
I think i'll have to give them ago, I've seen them mentioned on a few threads but never actually heard of them before! Will check out amazon.

Thanks, you too! x

PineappleSun · 07/01/2021 16:29

Welcome @Delilah221to the crazy train. I downloaded Flo earlier and it agrees with Clue but the OPKs I did this month say they're both a day or two early, sigh. I guess all these apps use the same basic math.
I was on depo for about 8 years and took 18 months for my cycles to come back into line, nightmare. Honestly i'm enjoying being off hormonal birth control at the moment, feel like a teenager again.

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 16:41

@PineappleSun thank you! :)

Yes, i think it must use the generic data/maths. I got all excited thinking i was ovulating this week, but then had more spotting today :( Just can't keep up!

I know what you mean, even 4 weeks off has made such a difference in my mentality! And it's making me question if the way I was before was down to the pill all along!

I'm such a worrier/stress head and feel like I'm constantly worrying about something, but since coming off the pill i really feel like i have become so much more happy and relaxed!! Now only stressing about TTC lol

shannonl26 · 07/01/2021 16:49

I downloaded two different apps, flo & premom, both were COMPLETELY different regarding ovulation days so it’s anybody game Grin I am prone to irregular cycles in the past but I blame that on the implant, then zelleta was a whole new world all together absolutely awful. So this is my first month completely contraception free, although I have had a period since coming off the pill.

How far along are we all in our cycles now? Smile premom says 1DPO, Flo says CD16 ovulation due CD22 based on my last cycle. Who knows eh.

PineappleSun · 07/01/2021 16:58

Luckily my cycles have been running like clockwork since October which I suppose is why my apps agree, CD18 4DPO for me, even my nips have let me down by being back to normal today so i'm fully expecting AF on the 15th. I have a short cycle though so should get another crack at a fertility peak later this month.
@Delilah221hopefully if you do start to get stressed about it, we can help, we're all in the same boat :)

Wondergirl1111 · 07/01/2021 17:00

@Pixiedust018 I'm first time TTC this month too - so excited to be trying - but trying to stay grounded too! Feels like lots of people in my life almost brag about conceiving first time round including my mum but I know that's not a given at all, so here's to enjoying the journey and meeting some people here on the same journey at the same time! How are you feeling about it all? x

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 17:03

@PineappleSun - Yes, so nice to have the support on here. Especially with everyone going through the same thing!

@Wondergirl1111 - It's so disheartening sometimes hearing stories of people conceiving within like a week of trying! And i also feel like you start noticing prams/pregnant women everywhere when you're TTC waiting for it to be your turn! haha.

Wondergirl1111 · 07/01/2021 17:04

@shannonl26 I'm using flo and natural cycles and they both have completely different days for ovulation for me too! 6 days apart! Learning about CM is probably a good guide to look for to help within the time periods they provide I guess! Everybody's body is different I guess! Have you used ovulation tests to help pinpoint?
I'm sitting here watching One born every minute wondering if it's going to subconsciously help or hinder! haha!

shannonl26 · 07/01/2021 17:05

@PineappleSun it ain’t over til the fat lady sings as they say !!

@Wondergirl1111 I feel the same, pregnancy is all around me! We all dream it happens with a snap of the fingers, but I am enjoying the journey & the online community.

Wondergirl1111 · 07/01/2021 17:07

@Delilah221I know, it's like it's somehow superior - my friend let slip last week after a few years of saying she conceived first night trying, that it actually took a couple of months. I'm not sure why she fibbed?
It just puts yet another load of pressure on women as if there isn't enough already! xx

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 17:24

@Wondergirl1111 - Yea it's really upsetting sometimes. Don't get me wrong it's amazing for those it does happen too, but not everyone is as lucky!
Oh wow really!! That's so odd!? I know, it's hard not to feel like it's all on my shoulders some times. My OH was feeling really worried about his sperm count a couple of years back, so we decided to do a test to put his mind at rest and it came back fine. So now i feel like it's even more pressure on me! Especially with not having much available test wise for women without waiting ages for appointments etc!

Trying to go with the flow a nit more but it's so hard to be chilled!

shannonl26 · 07/01/2021 18:13

@Delilah221 I’m also trying to take a super chilled approach, failing miserably Grin

RadDarwazeh · 07/01/2021 18:29

I understand. I see prams and baby things everywhere now. It makes my heart full and also ache at the same time. Baby dust for us all please! I think ladies see it sometimes as a competition with how fast they conceived. Who knows. It's nice to chat with ladies who are as invested in TTC and also super real about it too! Smile

Pixiedust018 · 08/01/2021 08:50

Morning everyone!

Sorry been very busy working from home.

Any updates? I’m now on CD9 and officially in my fertile window and I can start doing OPKs.

FieldView · 08/01/2021 09:13

Morning @Pixiedust018

4DPO here and nothing to report.

Good luck with the opks and bding! Sending baby dust and positive vibes x

Annabelle0852 · 08/01/2021 09:14

@Pixiedust018 Morning! Hope you're not slowly freezing to death like we are. I don't know what it is about this winter but I've been feeling the cold so much more... jeez, I sound like my mother!

Good luck with your OPKs!

Just waiting around on 4DPO. Looking froward to the weekend for distractions - OH and I have lots to do about the house and have planned a couple of lengthy woodland walks. Trying to keep busy!

How's everyone else?

RadDarwazeh · 08/01/2021 09:17

Nothing to report yet girls. In my two week wait. It is soooo cold this morning! Eek! For those who use apps or know, how long is your fertile window? How many days is your app suggesting?
