It’s our first month of vaguely trying so I’m not convinced that it will obviously happen but despite that it’s dragging so much !
AF due 13 th !!

@Trying4one ah that’s so agonising! So sorry and wow re your mum, you come from a fertile line :-) Af due Tuesday but I caved and took a test today, was negative so I think I’m out this month

Amy259 · 13/09/2020 19:04

@Trying4one that’ll keep you going! 😂 I’ve only got 3 left but I’m not ordering more until af arrives on Tuesday - not putting that energy out there in the hope I won’t need them 😂

@Sionemam I’m due Tuesday too and feel the same as I usually do on the lead up to it, and bfn yesterday but the negs get me so down I’m trying not to test again.

Trying4one · 13/09/2020 19:12

@Amy259 I totally feel you. Got to keep yourself positive. Plus that's what Amazon prime is for ... Next day delivery if you do need more. Shall keep my fingers crossed for you

Sionemam · 13/09/2020 19:24

Ah @Amy259 totally get that wish I was stronger but if I have a test in the house I can't resist. Kind of feel like it would have been positive if anything happened as 15dpo. Also had a positive 9dpo so probably a chemical, but very very early. Interesting chat about ovulation and basal temp. Would be interest to know how you get on @Orlandoflorida1 and @Trying4one I

I was skeptic this time as used an ovulation stick twice a day with my DD and the month I conceived according to the sticks I hadn't ovulated at all (hence the Prosecco lol). They were not cheap ones. But also know it's sensible to try and get an idea.

Orlandoflorida1 · 13/09/2020 19:30

Still negative tests here so I’m not testing anymore. Still got a raised temp but I’m due AF weds or Thursday and fully expecting it to show

HopingForTheBest24 · 13/09/2020 19:40

@Orlandoflorida1 I’m going to start BBT this month. What do I do and what do I look out for?
Presume test BBT same time every day? Does it dip at O then increase and stay high if preg?

Trying4one · 13/09/2020 19:48

@Sionemam that's interesting to know 🤔 I don't plan on going religious on using the sticks ( or at least that's the plan). I want to see if I am ovulating when I think I am.
Yeah both my mum and my sister appear to be highly fertile, however I am on medication for endocrine issues and I have food intolerances (which I have read can increase miscarriage) so I am very nervous as to whether I will be as lucky as my family.

Orlandoflorida1 · 13/09/2020 19:56

@HopingForTheBest24 this is my first month but from what I’ve read you need to try and do same time each morning before you move or talk or do anything! You can give 30mins either side of the time I have read. Have you got a thermometer that is to 2 decimal points? I then input it into an app. My temp when I started (I started a couple days after af finished) Was around 36.4-36.5 then the morning after I ovulated it went up to 36.72 and has been up to 37 I believe you then usually get a dip before AF and read you can also get a 1 day implantation dip. I had a 1 day dip around 5/6 DPO but still bfn. Think it’ll take me a couple more cycles to get used to the temping and knowing when il ovulate!

HopingForTheBest24 · 13/09/2020 20:05

@Orlandoflorida1 thank you so much. I’m sorry about your bfn. So frustrating when you have the symptoms and the science saying otherwise !! I only have a one decimal thermometer. Would it be better to get a diff one for accuracy? Any you recommend? I’m quite a ‘hot’ person in general lol will that make a difference? Xx

Orlandoflorida1 · 13/09/2020 20:13

@HopingForTheBest24 I got one off eBay. I read the 2 decimal point ones were better! It wasn’t too expensive. Need to stick it under your tongue! I’m trying not to be too disappointed as it’s our first month and we didn’t exactly put too much effort in! I’ve started on the seven seas trying for a baby too, I took those with my DD although couldn’t remember if I would have conceived before I started or not!

LemonDrizzle44 · 13/09/2020 20:15

@HopingForTheBest24 Doing BBT took me a while to get into it. As @Orlandoflorida1 said - it has to be done same time every morning, as soon as you wake up. I now set an alarm so I'm still half asleep 😂. You need 3-4 hours of restful sleep prior to taking your temp. You need a 2 decimal place thermometer. should get a dip before ovulation. And a 3 day rise after ovulation. The best app to use is fertility friend.
I'm now heading into my 3rd month of doing it and this is my most accurate month of logging. This is my chart this month. If my temp drops tomorrow I'm out ☹️

Amy259 · 13/09/2020 20:19

@Orlandoflorida1 sorry about your bfn. I’ll keep my fingers crossed you just get it later on and af doesn’t show!

@HopingForTheBest24 I do BBT too (making myself sound crazy now 🙈), only done it for 2 cycles so far but basically after you ovulate there’s a steady increase over 2-3 days. My temps before ov are about 35.9/36.0 and after it’s about 36.4/36.5. You’ll need a 2 decimal point thermometer and yeah like Orlando says, take it under your tongue before you move in the morning with at least 3-4 hrs sleep before. And my kit thing said don’t count it if you’re ill, had a few drinks or had broken sleep because it’s not accurate. I don’t think it’ll matter than you’re a hot person, all that matters is there’s a marked increase

HopingForTheBest24 · 13/09/2020 20:20

Thanks so much @LemonDrizzle44. So looked at your chart when was your O date? Just so I know what to look out for! Do you use O sticks too?

HopingForTheBest24 · 13/09/2020 20:21

Looking *

HopingForTheBest24 · 13/09/2020 20:22

Thank you so much @Amy259. My sleep is quite often broken but will see how it goes.

LemonDrizzle44 · 13/09/2020 20:29

@HopingForTheBest24 fertility friend automatically put the red "crosshairs" on your chart when you have a 3 day temp rise. So I ovulated on CD 17.
Last month I wasn't particularly good at temping at the same time so it kept changing my ovulation date. But I think this chart looks quite clear when I ovulated. I think when you combine with OPKs rather than the dotted crosshairs you get solid red lines.

LemonDrizzle44 · 13/09/2020 20:31

I'm going to add OPKs once we are properly trying.

HopingForTheBest24 · 13/09/2020 20:45

Thanks for explaining @LemonDrizzle44 and your chart it makes it much easier to see a real life example and have someone talk me through it. And I’m guessing a potential positive sign is when the temp stays up after O? Does it normally decrease then if no conception?

LemonDrizzle44 · 13/09/2020 20:54

@HopingForTheBest24. I think everyone is different but will stay up for a while after O. Some get an "implantation dip" 5-6dpo. Some people get a second rise (triphasic chart). Mine last month starting dipping 2 days before AF arrived and then CD1 I'm back to my usual temp (36.1-36.2) for the next cycle.

Trying4one · 13/09/2020 20:56

Reading this I reckon plotting my temperature will not work for me as me sleep is often broken. I wake up at least once or twice a night (often to pee) 🙈🤣

LemonDrizzle44 · 13/09/2020 20:57

@HopingForTheBest24 sustained temp rise and triphasic charts don't always mean pregnancy either. I find it interesting. I also add my resting heart rate to my chart too. Pre ovulation it's 58-64 beats per minute. Post ovulation it's 66-70. There's a thread on here that is comparing that too.

LemonDrizzle44 · 13/09/2020 20:59

@Trying4one I wake most nights to pee too. Usually between midnight and 2am. I have an alarm set for 5:30am (so at least 3hrs sleep) to take my temperature as this is usually my second pee time. So far I find this works.

LemonDrizzle44 · 13/09/2020 21:01

I pressed enter too early. Sometimes I wake at 5am for my second pee (not usually earlier). But this is ok as within the 30 minute either side window.

Sionemam · 13/09/2020 21:27

So sorry to hear about your negative @Orlandoflorida1 it’s such a horrible feeling

Thanks @LemonDrizzle44 and @Amy259 for all the info I might actually give it a go after being a massive skeptic of tracking ovulation. Really good to be educated :-)

Orlandoflorida1 · 14/09/2020 07:29

Well looks like AF is showing her face A couple of days early for me! Ladies do you count day 1 when spotting starts if it goes straight into heavy bleeding or do you start day one from heavy bleeding?
