Me and DH will begin TTC in November! Part of me is excited but also very nervous as lately I feel I’ve been hearing a lot of stories about people who’ve tried for 5+ years and suffered many miscarriages and the thought of us going through that breaks my heart! I know we’d get through it of course but would not like to go that.

On the other hand I know that a lot of people say and some statistics say most couples conceive within a year of trying.

I guess I just want to hear positive and real stories! I do not want to go into the experience dreading a struggle that I may be lucky enough to not experience!

We started 3 months earlier than we wanted to get pregnant as thought it would take 6-12 months if no problems.

Conceived dd1 on first cycle and dd2 on second. You won't know until you try but there's every chance you'll conceive quickly.

redcactus · 06/07/2020 13:38

Btw I tend not to comment on these types of threads as I know I had it easy. Generally you will hear more about people who have had trouble TTC as they have more reason to reach out for support.

Napqueen1234 · 06/07/2020 13:40

I have two children and have never tried for them! First was a surprise (v happy accident) second we decided on our anniversary night to start trying for number two, BFP 2 weeks later. We are v v lucky to have had two very easy successful pregnancies and healthy babies but it does often happen v easily!

jennyt82 · 06/07/2020 13:40

I conceived in the first month at ages 27,29 and 38 and it took 5 months at age 33

VesperLynne · 06/07/2020 13:41

Weeks, I was 23 and again when I was 25. I had my third when I was 40. Couldn't believe it. Still don't understand how as I was on the same birth control for 15 years. No idea of the time scale on that one.

Napqueen1234 · 06/07/2020 13:41

And I’m sorry if that sounds like a stealth boast to people who have struggled it’s really not I appreciate we are v lucky and think fertility problems must be awful but I do think it’s important for people to be aware that it can happen quicker than expected too, it certainly did for us :)

Comps83 · 06/07/2020 13:41

I conceived straight away aged 35
Straight forward easy pregnant and birth

Guiltyfeminist1 · 06/07/2020 13:42

I conceived without trying at 22 and then after 6 months of trying at 28.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/07/2020 13:46

Started at 31, got pregnant first cycle but had an early loss (around 60% of first pregnancies end in miscarriage so now surprising, a statistic I found comforting) waited two cycles (1 for my body to readjust, 1 cause it was Christmas and I thought I’ll have a drink and not worry this one) 3 cycles of trying, got pregnant on the 3rd. That was the first month we used OPKs as well as BBT and I think that’s what helped us pinpoint the right days. Now 21 weeks pregnant.

So a reasonably easy ride. Do remember that all those who don’t have much trouble conceiving don’t really say much about it, it’s those who do that will seek more help and advice and that will skew how it looks to an outsider.

Moominmiss · 06/07/2020 13:47

Didn’t really ‘try’ with my 3 children. I was aged 27, 29, and 32 when I had them and just stopped the pill and was pregnant within 2-3 months. No tracking or dtd more. Just not using protection anymore.

Now at age 37 (nearly 38) with a new partner, we’ve been ttc 10 months with one mc at 9 weeks and 2 chemicals.

My age definitely seems to be playing a big part this time. Getting pregnant doesn’t seem to be an issue, but hanging onto it does.

Good luck!

TrickyKid · 06/07/2020 13:48

First cycle both times. Age 31 and 34.

Whereland · 06/07/2020 13:50

Started trying at 29, took two years and two rounds of treatment to get pregnant. Second time got pregnant first month. No rhyme or reason!

Elouera · 06/07/2020 13:50

How old are you OP?

I started TTC age 32. Still TTC 9yrs on and 3 losses later. Not the norm at all, but can happen.

I have a good egg count, very regular periods, no endo, PCOS, DH has good sperm count and no cause for infertility found other than being old eggs!

BlueProsecco97 · 06/07/2020 13:53

This is all quite reassuring!

I did speak to my psychiatrist about it as it was affecting my moods quite a lot and my mental health is something I’m working on before TTC as I would like a healthy mind as well as body!

She did say that due to my age (23), the fact I don’t really drink (one night a month which’ll be stoped when TTC) and the fact I am cycle tracking and know my length and what day I ovulate are all good signs I should be okay

But I have came to seek reassurance here because after seeing so many viral social media stories/videos about infertility (self-reminder: take time off socials!) and the odd few stories I have heard from people we know, I just wanted to know that there is a chance we won’t struggle and it could be a happy time for us!

Managed to conceive first month TTC (30 years old). I was on a non hormonal contraception beforehand, tracked my cycles so knew how long they were etc and I tracked my ovulation.

Best of luck! 🤞🏼✨

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/07/2020 14:35

It’s more likely you won’t struggle than you will.

Igotmylipstickon · 06/07/2020 14:49

3 months on both children, age 34 & 36.

Katievb · 06/07/2020 21:28

Took 11 months at 25! 😊

BabyDancer · 06/07/2020 22:02

It took 2 months at 29. I had Shingles on my first cycle so I'm not sure it counts, but let's say two.

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2020 22:06

It took me 11 months at 28, one month at 30 and 4 months at 32.

Wolfgirrl · 06/07/2020 22:08

First cycle for me at 26 HOWEVER I had had 'slip ups' with an ex that resulted in nothing, I don't think it means you're amazingly fertile, more that you're lucky. It is like throwing a dice, somebody will throw a 1.

rathernotshare · 06/07/2020 22:11

We are both 26 and have been trying for 6 cycles, the odds are in our favour and it's not been too long but it's surprising how quickly you can feel so disappointed about it! Hopefully you catch quickly 💕

MeadowHay · 06/07/2020 22:14

I was 23 and it took about 6 months. More cycles as my entire cycles are between 23 and 26 days.

mynameisntlouise · 06/07/2020 22:21

Conceived first month of trying when I was 25 and convinced by accident when I was 27.

sunsshineshowerss · 06/07/2020 22:29

Pregnant 3 times - each baby conceived first month of TTC. 27,28, 30
