How many days after missed period did you get a positive test?

We've been TTC for 10 months and now my period is late, but I've done two pregnancy tests and both have been negative. I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up, but if I am pregnant is it possible the tests just aren't showing as positive yet?

I've also been eating fewer calories and exercising more recently, so I'm conscious that could be the reason for the delayed period. But, I've only cut down to 1500 calories a day with a 30 minute work out 5 days a week, a 60 minute workout 1 day a week and a rest day so nothing excessive.

Hi @BeansOnToastWithCheese

All women on here say you’re not out until she arrives so maybe test again in a couple of days if she’s still not here.

I got my first 2 positives 12dpo and then much stronger once I had missed AF.

Every woman is different though. Some women don’t get positives for weeks x

newgirl14 · 03/07/2020 09:03

Hey 👋🏼

I'm the same 16dpo / 3 days late and no sign of AF yet. Multiple BFNs 😫 normally I'm regular so this is unusual for me.

How many days late are you?

Just want AF to start now so I can get in with my new cycle!

BeansOnToastWithCheese · 03/07/2020 09:07

I'm not sure how many DPO I am - I stopped testing as it was beginning to get quite tense every time I went for a wee waiting for a positive and I figured we'd just DTD every other day during the fertile 10 days or so.

My cycle is usually anything from 24-28 days and I'm on day 30 now. So two days late? But I know I could just be having a long cycle this month. I am exactly the same, I just want AF to arrive now so I can stop thinking about it!

Hi, I'm in a similar situation and it's all very confusing. I actually had 4 days in a row of faint lines on frer, so when period was late I tested with a normal test and it couldn't have been any more negative 😑. Deep down I know it's probably a chemical pregnancy but trying to hold onto some hope 🤨. Hoping for good news for you too!

BeansOnToastWithCheese · 04/07/2020 17:25

How are you getting on namenamename2020? No change here. Negative tests but still no AF, so who knows?!

OP posts:
caithnini · 04/07/2020 17:45

I'm in the same sort of situation. TTC for 7 months for our first. Currently 15dpo, AF due yesterday but not arrived and BFN yesterday and today. I'm so trying not to get my hopes up and remember that I've been stressed and not sleeping great so probably just a bit late. But at the same time I'm never late.... fingers crossed for us all!!

BeansOnToastWithCheese · 04/07/2020 18:24

Yes, fingers crossed all round! I was going to walk to the shops and get an FRER test earlier but it's not going to change anything - I either am pregnant or I'm not and I know I'll find out at some point so I decided not to bother.

My boobs were the usual sort of sore they are before my period the week before AF was due but that's stopped now and no pregnancy symptoms at all. Maybe I'm just having a really long cycle/skipping my period this month because I've been exercising more?

Hi @BeansOnToastWithCheese @caithnini @newgirl14

Well, I am now 4 days late with no AF and still BFN - except on FRER which are still positive. V confusing.
I'm now wondering if I have purchased some fake FRER! However 2 were from a pharmacy and were positive yesterday. So basically I have no idea...

I felt low yesterday but today I'm a bit more on your wavelength Beans. It will all become clearer in time! Hope you are feeling ok today.

caithnini · 05/07/2020 15:46

@Namenamename2020 are you still getting positives on FRER? I've never had even a sniff of a second line, but isn't a line positive even if its faint?

I tested again with a FRER this morning and BFN. Period was due on Friday and no sign of it. So frustrating and confusing. Keep telling myself just to wait and see but I feel so stressed out.

Namenamename2020 · 05/07/2020 16:01

I am, but they are definitely relatively faint for how late I am. I had a MMC earlier this year and this was my first time TTC after that, so next time I will avoid FRER and just test using a normal test if period is late. Feel I have had my hopes up this time and it's looking more and more like a chem.

I'm so sorry you're feeling that way. It's horrible. Very confusing and difficult to concentrate on other things. Hope we all get some clarity soon!

BeansOnToastWithCheese · 05/07/2020 22:49

I'm out, AF arrived this morning. But at least I know now. Not sure why it was so late - never got a positive test although did get a faint positive on an internet cheapie ovulation test so perhaps it was a chemical? But I doubt it. Never mind - onwards and upwards. Hopefully next month is my month!

Morning @BeansOnToastWithCheese sorry to hear that but you're right at least you can start your new cycle, wishing you all the best for this months round.

Nothing from me...7 days late now 😞 never thought I'd say this but I just want AF to come!!

NameHangec8171ns · 06/07/2020 07:42

With my 1st I got a positive around 6 days after my missed period

With my 2nd I didn't get a positive until my period was 2 weeks late. Had an early scan due to previous losses, I should of been 7+ weeks according to LMP but on the scan was around 5 weeks. According to LMP i would of been due 28th December but my due date was the 9th of January! And DD arrived on the 11th! The nurses just said i must of ovulated later in my cycle

With my 3rd i got a positive the day before my period was even due. I only took the test because i was feeling so terrible and wanted to rule out pregnancy Grin

TJ17 · 06/07/2020 07:45

Very regular cycle and was 6 days late before getting BFP this time round.

GhostPenguin · 06/07/2020 07:57

Hi @newgirl14. Same for me- 7 days late but another bfn this morning. I know I just need to sit tight and wait for af to eventually show up but it's maddening not understanding what's going on. I'm normally 29 days exactly!

newgirl14 · 06/07/2020 08:14

@GhostPenguin have you found any info on why this could be for us? I'm like you 29 days always. This has never happened to me since I've had periods.

GhostPenguin · 06/07/2020 08:20

@newgirl14 Everything I read says "maybe you ovulated late" or "maybe you've been overexercising" (haha- fat chance!) but I don't know really. Maybe I'm causing it by constantly going to the loo to see if af has started!

newgirl14 · 06/07/2020 08:22

@GhostPenguin ha that wouldn't be the case with me either 😂 under exercise if anything!

I feel I can see a shadow of something but even if there was. 7days late would not be a great indication of a viable pregnancy surely?!

I've started temping and using opks again from today to try and establish some kind of pattern if I have just strangely missed a period.

How many days after missed period did you get a positive test?
caithnini · 06/07/2020 08:48

Sorry your out this month @BeansOnToastWithCheese but like you said, at least you know.

I didn't test today. Don't want to see the white space again and strain my eyes looking for something!

Thanks for your examples @NameHangec8171ns and @TJ17. I guess you never know until your period arrives!

@newgirl14... I think I can see a shadow...maybe? finger crossed for you.

LemonDrizzle44 · 06/07/2020 09:55

Hi ladies!

AF is 1 day late. My cycles are usually 27-31 days and I'm currently CD32. Tested this morning and got a BFN. I've had cramps like AF is on her way for the past 8-9 days which is unusual for me. I normally only get cramps on the day AF arrives. Not really had any other symptoms apart from slight heartburn (which I get anyway). Although I've felt tired and bloated the past week too.
How often would you retest?

Namenamename2020 · 06/07/2020 10:28

Sorry @BeansOnToastWithCheese. Disappointing. Onwards and upwards like you say.

I've had another BFN on a regular test this morning, and still faint lines on frers. It's now 9 days in a row of faint lines so I feel I am clutching at straws telling myself it could be viable.

Thank you to @TJ17 and @NameHangec8171ns for your positive stories. It's difficult to know what to think.

MrsLauraM · 06/07/2020 10:30

I’m in a similar situation too. Currently on CD40 with no sign of AF and multiple BFN’s. My previous cycle was 35 days but it was my first AF to AF cycle since having my implant out in January.
I’ve been having so many symptoms too since CD34 which I initially thought were symptoms of AF but then thought could be signs of pregnancy when it didn’t arrive. Mild cramping/pinching sensation, bloating/heaviness in pelvic area, lower backache, headaches and feeling emotional.
I haven’t been tracking ovulation up to now but had invested in a BBT thermometer and some opk’s to start in my next cycle. I’m now not sure what to do.

Namenamename2020 · 06/07/2020 10:33

@LemonDrizzle44 hi! I believe the recommendation is every few of days or so...if you're anything like me you will firmly ignore that 😂

At the moment I'm testing with fmu every morning which is enough for me in terms if how I'm feeling 🙃

GhostPenguin · 06/07/2020 11:26

@newgirl14 That's similar to how mine looked. I feel like as I'm 7 days late it should be obvious on a test by now if I was pregnant but then, if I'm not pregnant where is af?? I've not been tracking ovulation but I think I'm going to start. Something else to obsess over!

@LemonDrizzle44 It's always "a few days". If you manage that you're a more patient woman than me!

LemonDrizzle44 · 06/07/2020 14:24

@GhostPenguin @Namenamename2020 I'm not very good at waiting. I've run out of tests but have ordered some more on Amazon prime should be delivered today. Maybe I should have waited a few days before I ordered to resist the urge!
