When trying to conceive, did you lay down for a few mins afterwards? (To help stop gravity)

When my DP asked if I’d be better laying down for a few mins after we had done the deed trying for a baby, I said don’t be ridiculous!!!

I then googled it and it looks like there may be something in it after all Shock I usually get straight up and wipe within seconds and I’m not pregnant yet.... so I thoughts if Kat down for about 10 mins to held stop gravity.

Or am I mental?

Yes - maybe try half an hr?

RiverMeadow · 02/07/2020 20:58

Yes! I would put a cushion under my backside and put my legs in the air for about 10-20 mins. I'm not sure it's scientifically proven but it worked for me twice!

CheshireSplat · 02/07/2020 20:59

I did. Lay there with my legs up in the air for a while. Did this for both babies but obviously can't tell you whether I would have got pregnant had I not done this.

Planterspots · 02/07/2020 21:00

Yes, I did the same as @RiverMeadow. I saw it on an episode of peep show so thought I’d try it. I did get pregnant so maybe it worked!

Janaih · 02/07/2020 21:00

I did a handstand against the wall once. Dh was a bit perturbed.

HidingUnderMyDuvet · 02/07/2020 21:01

I did, and I occasionally did a headstand, just to be sure. Grin

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 02/07/2020 21:06

I did this to try for DD1 and nothing happened - I even used conceive plus gel but we had fertility problems. DD2 is due in November and wasn't planned - I most certainly just got up and wiped leading up to her conception as we weren't actively trying so anything is possible!

Twickerhun · 02/07/2020 21:06

Yes - was also told to do this after ivf Embryo transfer. 10 mins lie down, no wee-ing for 30 mins and no shower for24h

Dizzttc · 02/07/2020 21:08

@twickerhun why cant you shower?

Babesinthewud · 02/07/2020 21:13

Oh wow I’m pleasantly surprised. I thought you were all going to say I’d lost the plot.

Well I did lay down today afterwards for about 10 mins so fingers crossed 🤞

Good luck, keep us posted!

MajesticWhine · 02/07/2020 21:27

Yes definitely worth a try. Make sure you orgasm after him too? Helps the swimmers get there.

Workingmama1 · 02/07/2020 22:00

I led with my bum in the air for 10 minutes. I got pregnant, I also got a nasty UTI!

MeadowHay · 02/07/2020 22:04

Yes for with legs in the air propped up by a pillow or against the wall Grin for probs around 15 mins or so after. It took us about 4 months to conceive.

Flittingabout · 02/07/2020 22:07

I've just got my BFP and have never done this because I physically can't so gravity can't have stopped me. I did read that the best swimmers will have gone milliseconds so anything that um comes out wasn't the good stuff you need anyway!

schnubbins · 02/07/2020 22:09

I did . He is 22 years old today!

Iamblossom · 02/07/2020 22:09

Yes I did and I did get pregnant so ✅

Boredinthehouse12 · 02/07/2020 22:53

I did and I just got a BFP on our 1st cycle!

DramaAlpaca · 02/07/2020 22:57

It took me 11 months to conceive DC1.

I conceived DC2 the first time of trying by lying on my back with a pillow under my bum for half an hour afterwards Grin

ellesbellesxxx · 02/07/2020 23:03

@Twickerhun that’s really interesting... once they had checked the embryos weren’t still in the pipette, they sent us on our way... I wanted to lie down but they said it was like a grain of sugar in jam! I also hadn’t put deodorant on as I read embryos don’t like it but apparently that was nuts too 😂

Peppapigisevil · 02/07/2020 23:05

I had ivf. After the embryo transfer, I was told to lie down and the bed was tilted slightly so my feet were higher than the rest of me. Have no idea if it made any difference or what other clinics do but it worked for me - ds is the result and he is now 16.

SmartyPants0 · 02/07/2020 23:09

I raised my hips with a pillow with both of mine and fell pregnant first month of trying... was it a fluke? who knows but it helps if you know you are ovulating.

Minniee · 02/07/2020 23:24

Yep, put my legs right up in the air against the headboard for 20 minutes afterwards.

Works a treat.

Graphista · 02/07/2020 23:26

Yep I did this and it worked twice conceiving in less than 2 cycles each time.

I've also advised others who were taking a long time to conceive to do so and it appeared to do the trick.

A good half hour lying with feet on wall above the beds headboard!

Let's be honest it does no harm and may help so why not try it?
