Implantation or early period? **content warning - contains photo**

Hi everyone,

I'm due on my period next Tuesday (9th June) and today began spotting. It's only when I wipe but it's there everytime I go to the toilet. Does this look like the start of AF or implantation bleeding? Sorry if the photo is TMI!!

I've had implantation twice and both times it was a tiny, 2mm speck on the toilet paper the once. Nothing more. No cramps, pain, nothing on underwear etc. I have also had spotting prior to a period. Could be either, but its much heavier than what I had.

I was just about to post the exact same question. Mine looks very similar, not got any of the usual period pains. Will be following with interest

Ditto! I'm due AF on Monday and have had brown spotting and cramps for 24 hours. The dates are right for implantation bleeding and I'm praying that's what it is BUT trying to remain realistic that it could've an early period. Keep in touch girls and I've got everything crossed for you all 🤞🏻

Thank you all for replying! The spotting has totally stopped now so only lasted for a few hours. When are you guys thinking of testing? I'm desperate to test tomorrow but know it's far too soon! Xxx

@REM19 that's looking positive. If it was period it wouldn't stop. Last month I went test crazy so this one I'm not going to. Just wait and see if the spotting progresses.

@murphs2 Due Monday too. I feel like it's going to become AF as I have PMS and thought it was strange as I wasn't due. Fingers crossed for you.

Absolutely hate the 2WW

I'm going to wait until Sat/Sun to test. Unless this turns into my period. I did one month of early testing and it honestly drove me crazy. I found the BFNs so upsetting. So even though it's hard, I'll wait now until the weekend. What about you?

@murphs2 that sounds like a good plan. I feel like I spend the 2WW just symptom spotting. It's brutal 😩 I've woken up this morning to a tiny bit of spotting again but it's mixed with EWCM? So weird as I though that was more to do with the fertile window. How have you been feeling? X

@REM19 it is brutal. I've got some more painful cramping this morning, so I'm thinking the worst It really is an emotional rollercoaster. I'm crossing everything for everyone. One month it will be us!

@murphs2 ah no! I hope it goes away soon. Have you got any kids already? I have an 18 month old little girl... It took us 3 years to conceive her! Not holding out much hope for conceiving quickly this time around either. But I will keep everything crossed and test at the weekend... 🤞 Please keep us updated with how you get on x

Thank you 🤞🏻 Gosh, 3 years, you've really been through it all then. I can't imagine how difficult that was. And yet you're prepared to do it all again, that's how great kids are!! Yes, two beauties at 2 1/2 and 1. I got pregnant after finishing breastfeeding in December but miscarried at 5/6 weeks. I was crushed. I'm really finding TTC more consuming than before. Maybe because I'm exhausted!! And at home all the time with too much thinking time. I'll let you know. Keep me posted

@murphs2 yes, it took quite a while. I've had some more pink spotting today (attached a photo) and think I may be out... Getting more cramps and a 'wet' feeling down below. It feels like I'm on my period but whenever I go to the toilet, it's some light pink spotting. Feel like I'll come on over the next few days as this is how I usually feel before a period 😞 please keep us updated with how you get on!

@REM19 yes AF arrived last night, 5 days early the sneaky cow! Had me hoping this was my month but there you go. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏻

@murphs2 ah no! Exact same thing happened to me last month. I was convinced and then AF arrived a week early. Hopefully next month is your month 🤞 thank you... I will let you know. My spotting has stopped... Again... I will test on Sunday/Monday I think. Unless AF arrives before then!

@REM19 good luck with your test 🤞I hope AF stays away. mine seems to stop at night and then start up again in the morning for the day. Not enough for a pad but too much for nothing. Looks similar to your photos except brown. Wondering now if it's a strange AF. I have had no cramps or spots but it seems to be too heavy for spotting.

@tootiredtoclean thank you! That's strange. Mine is there when I wipe sometimes but nothing on a pad when I put one on. I have heard of women have a proper period then find out they're pregnant though so I think our bodies just play with our head! I even researched how to look for changes in your cervix but I have no clue what I'm doing 🙈🤣 I'll just wait to test and then wait for AF if it's BFN!

@tootiredtoclean are you feeling positive that you'll get a BFP? Have you had many other symptoms?

@REM19 - I have had exactly the same for 2 days, at approx 6 DPO. And now its stopped again . This would be first period post pill so possibly just body being confusing

@REM19 that's a positive sign. I too have been doing a lot of googling and that's how they seem to describe implantation.

It's not a proper period. AF is usually like clock wake up at 2am Monday morning 14 DPO with cramps and by the morning AF Is in full force. Usually very heavy, bright red and cramps.

Definitely, it's messing with my head. It's the not knowing that's the worse. Before now I've had PMS symptoms and always hoped it wasn't AF arriving but I've had no signs this month. It's about an inch of brown in a pad if that all day.

I'm not sure I don't want to get my hopes up and then it's not. Going to test The weekend to rule it out I think. You?

I had a tiny amount of brown spotting mixed with EWCM at 5dpo, currently I'm 11dpo and just started cramping so I think I'm out this cycle 😔 fingers crossed for you tho🤞 @REM19

@TheDaydreamBelievers that sounds positive. I will keep my fingers crossed that it's not a dodgy period and you get a BFP!

@tootiredtoclean that sounds mega frustrating. How are you feeling in yourself? Have you got any other kids or been pregnant before? I didn't find out I was pregnant with my daughter until I was 6 weeks 3 days. My first sign was sore boobs which I don't have now - but I need to keep reminding myself that I was a lot further on when I experienced my first symptom a few years back.

@envi cramping can sometimes be a good sign so try not to rule it out! I will keep my fingers crossed for you and please keep us updated!

I tested this morning - BFN. My period is due on Tuesday so it's still pretty early. Trying not to be too disheartened! I'm going to hold off testing until Tuesday now (hopefully!)

@REM19 I tested too and BFN. Also supposed to be due Tuesday. Are you still spotting? I just sniffed mine (TMI) and it doesn't smell like AF,just discharge, but it's still going. Think this may just be a strange early period as it's gone on a while.

No pregnancy's before apart from tiredness and nausea nothing to suggest either AF or pregnancy. I've had a pretty busy week at work which can explain the tiredness which would make me nauseous.

Do you have any signs AF might be coming? 🤞 for you.

Honestly @tootiredtoclean - no idea. App is consistently predicting the next day because this first cycle has been so insanely long. Or if we estimate as 2 weeks from ovulation peak it should be ~10th or 11th June.

Back to a tint of brown today. Tested on a cheapie just because I could and its negative. I reckon its AF on its way but just still messed up from being on the pill so long. Not too concerned either way as this is our first try and came off the pill mid-late march (so this cycle is sitting at 80 days long at the moment).
