Implantation or early period? **content warning - contains photo**

Hi everyone,

I'm due on my period next Tuesday (9th June) and today began spotting. It's only when I wipe but it's there everytime I go to the toilet. Does this look like the start of AF or implantation bleeding? Sorry if the photo is TMI!!

@tootiredtoclean no the spotting has stopped. I have no clue what is going on! How are you feeling? I don't have many symptoms to be honest - tiredness is the biggest one but I've been really busy lately so probably to be expected. Have you had many symptoms? Keeping my fingers crossed for you, too! 🤞🤞

@TheDaydreamBelievers sounds like your cycle is a nightmare at the moment. A GP did suggest to me to go onto the pill for a few months as apparently you get an ovulation surge when you come off it. So you might still be in with a chance!

@envi I'm okay thank you - just hate the tww so much. Last month my period came a whole week early and this month I've not got a lot of symptoms... So I have no clue what's going on unfortunately. How have you been feeling?

@TheDaydreamBelievers it's amazing wha the pill can do to our bodies. If you know when you've ovulated it could be implantation as it seems to soon for AF. I don't think we ever allow ourselves to believe it though.

@envi was hoping the bleeding/spotting would stop today but never mind. How're you?

@REM19 that's a positive sign. It's so confusing isn't it. I wish there was a way of knowing so early. Similar to you, tiredness but a busy week. I just can't shift the feeling that it could be something usually I'm talking myself out of it. Think it'll be more upsetting when I get the BFN next week.

@REM19 Those two weeks are the longest, aren't they? I wish you didn’t have to wait so long to find out if you’re pregnant.
I feel pretty good with no symptoms other than sensitive breasts for the second time this month and also my husband noticed that they look bigger than usual 🤷🏻‍♀️ af due tomorrow so not long to wait now!

I hope it's a good sign and you'll get a bfp soon! 🤞 My breasts are a little more sensitive and bigger than usual but apart from that, I don't have any other symptoms. I hope af doesn't come!

How's everyone doing?

Mine finally stopped on Friday. Don't know whether to expect AF tomorrow or if it was the strangest earliest AF I've ever had.

@envi any signs of AF arriving today. 🤞 fingers crossed for you. Do you usually get sensitive breasts? If it doesn't happen this month I think I'm going to try forget about TTC for a bit and relax.

@tootiredtoclean yes I am exactly the same. I think I've talked myself out of it today as I don't feel any different to be honest with you. How have you been feeling? Are you feeling positive?

@envi this is sounding really good for you! Did you manage to do a test today? What's the verdict? I have my fingers crossed for you!

@REM19 I wish someone could tell us what's going on without all the waiting. I'm going to test on Wednesday if no real AF by then and if it's a BFN I'll count last week as AF and start again. I feel less focused on it now, although I'm really tired still. Had the weekend off and was in bed by 7 which is strange for me but it could be the busy week.

@tootiredtoclean I know exactly how you feel! All of this is driving me demented. Went to the toilet this morning and had really thick mucus (TMI sorry) with a few tinges of blood in it. Considering myself out as I don't have any pregnancy symptoms at all. Did a test yesterday and it was negative. Just fed up! AF due tomorrow so got that to look forward to... 😐 Have you tested recently?

@REM19 I had something similar to that yesterday evening but no AF yet so there's hope yet. I dread AF, you build up all the hope then it's all gone and on to the next cycle. Let me know if AF makes an appearance. Hope it stays away.

No, DH has had enough of me staring at cheap strips trying to find a line so no more. Agreed to do a FRER Wednesday although I don't want to know if it's negative either. One minute I convince myself it'll be a BFP and the next I'm telling myself last week was AF and to get DTD ready for next month

@tootiredtoclean yes I know what you mean. I do a test and build myself up to see a second line and find myself holding it up to the light to convince myself there is one when there absolutely is not! I am thinking of trying conceive plus - have you heard of it/take it already? It's quite expensive though so wanted to wait for AF to arrive to know I am definitely out before taking it.

@REM19 holding it on a slant and then squinting at it. I know me too and DH is constantly going there's nothing there before I even give it to him! Yea I'm currently taking it, besides the bright yellow wee, it's not affected my cycle. My SIL swears by it and conceived twice taking it first time but this is cycle 3 on it for me. I order it on amazon as a subscription to come when AF has finished.

@tootiredtoclean yes that's exactly what I do! I don't show my husband though as he'd go mad if he knew I was spending so much on tests. I hide them in my bedroom drawers 😬 well, my period hasn't arrived and still BFN tests. Sick to death. If I'm not pregnant then I want my period so I can start trying again next cycle! This waiting is a killer. How are you feeling today?

Hey @REM19 and @tootiredtoclean - I sound v similar to you. Spotting stopped after 3 days. Nothing yet for either AF or pregnancy tests. Keep testing every few days even though I KNOW it's too early (11th is 14 days after ovulation positive and I've heard either AF or BFP ehould be 14-16 days after). Feel knackered but not sure if that's also work and a week of unhealthy food... or just the stress of this! Like you I wish if it was AF I could just get it done now to start fresh.

@envi TTC is such an emotional rollercoaster. Although when AF arrives The stress of the TWW can stop. Good luck for this cycle 🤞

@TheDaydreamBelievers Good luck. Let us know if AF arrives or a BFP on the 11th. It's so hard not knowing. I think spotting makes us more positive for a BFP too as it's so obvious compared to tiredness.! 😂 I've been feeling tired too, now I'm blaming the weather.

No AF for me, was supposed to arrive yesterday. Took a test this morning, couldn't wait until tomorrow and a BFN. I can't keep stressing so guessing I'm out and going to start as if last weeks spotting was a very strange period. BFN on OPKs too although should be entering my fertile window soon.

@envi sorry to hear that - at least it's back to CD1 and a fresh start. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is your month! Keep us updated with how you're getting on.

@tootiredtoclean sounds strange - was last week's bleeding heavy enough for a pad/tampon? I really don't think last week was a period for me as it was literally just a few streaks of blood when I wiped. Just tonight I've started getting some lower back pain and a 'full' feeling down there. Just feel really uncomfortable so think AF will be paying a visit soon. Eurgh.

@REM19 I wore a pad just in case it got heavy and being busy at work didn't want a disaster and at most I was maybe an inch on there. I didn't wear one on my day off and was a bit too much for nothing. No period pains either which isn't like me. Normally I'm up all night with cramps and being sick. Wasn't really 'AF blood' just brown. But no real AF and negative tests so guessing it was the strangest AF ever.

Just to join in im going through something similar. I don’t check ovulation and AF has never been regular since stopping pill in January. Last month came at day 26/27. Think prev month was the same. This month fees different. Now at day 29. Had increase in CD last week or so. Started cramping on Saturday, not as strong as a period cramp and I don’t usually get them before it comes, only on heavy days. Spotted some pink discharge yest morning and cramps better since then but still occ twinge. Today had some dark brown discharge and a lot of mucus only on paper, nothing on pad. That was at lunchtime and nothing since. I know with timing it’s most likely to just be AF and a little later/different to usual but i can’t help getting my hopes up!

@tootiredtoclean so strange how things happen isn't it? I'm beginning to think last week was some weird incredibly light period for me as well! I took an OPK today... Usually they are always negative for me (I have PCOS) so it's usually 1 line and then total white. But this was today's... Apparently this can signal my period is coming soon?!

@LT103 this sounds really positive I think... Please do let us know how you get on. Have you taken a test yet? 🤞

@REM19 I’ve never tried to check ovulation so I don’t understand too much about it sorry

And no I haven’t taken a test yet, still no sign of AF so I think tomorrow will either be AF day or test day. Will see what happens overnight

@REM19 I've started OPKs again too. Not sure about it signalling a period as I've always stopped after ovulation. Mine are looking like that at the minute not any darker that the day before either. Hopefully yours will keep developing 🤞 I'm using an app to track them and it measures my peak, definitely recommend it. Maybe you've ovulated and that's what the spotting was? Dr google says spotting can happen with ovulation, although I ignored that and immediately jumped to a possible BFP. Just want a real AF now to feel like I can start again without all the guessing.

I'm currently ~11 DPO positive OPK, negative pregnancy tests. Decided to make a GP appt as this is now 90 days after withdrawal bleed from coming off the pill with no period. I'm just a bit frustrated that I dont even know what my body is doing. I'd be happy with a period OR BFP. Just esnt one of them, not a great big "?!?!"

@TheDaydreamBelievers it's so frustrating isn't it. The not knowing drives us crazy. Hopefully the doctors have some answers and a positive OPK is good. Don't lose hope xx

So AF decided to visit this morning unfortunately so at least now I know. Was a strange one for me, spotted and cramping for about 5 days before this. Not sure what was going on. Anyway....onwards and upwards. Day 1, cycle 3. I’m going for 3rd time lucky!!

I've started with the brown discharge again so have phoned the GP as have endo and cysts so expect it's that.
