Gemma May - I am also a knowledge is power kind of woman haha

My other half is the same. He worries that I'll get obsessed and worries I'll talk about it too much. He said "I don't need to know when you're eggs are popping out everywhere!" :-D haha I wish they did pop out everywhere!!

This is the book: www.amazon.co.uk/Taking-Charge-Your-Fertility-Reproductive/dp/0091887585?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I'm not on commission, honestly - it's just great and so detailed with loads of example stories and sample charts etc...

lavenderlilaclily · 22/04/2020 13:08

Hi everyone! I'm new to mumsnet and relatively new to actively ttc (trying for no.1 eek!) though have been tracking for over a year - am a bit anxious about the whole thing as I've got PMDD and have had reoccurring PID as well in the past which doesn't bode too well...but trying anyway, and would also like to hop on the May bus please :)

currently on CD11! so ovulation coming any day now, I have relatively short cycles of about 23/24 days

also has anyone had an issue getting a pos ovulation test? I've never been able to get a positive one (have only used the internet cheap ones though but heard they're just as good?). My bbt indicates I've been ovulating regularly, but it's making me worry that I've not been able to get a line!

x

GemmaMay3291 · 22/04/2020 14:20

Thanks again @AlternativeOpinion1 at least with this thread we can share the nitty gritty details without driving our OH’s insane ha.

@lavenderlilaclily I got my very first static smiley last month. I’ve been using the clear blue ones. How many times a day are you testing?

X

HopefulRobertsons66202 · 22/04/2020 14:34

Still a negative OPK, wondering if I'm even going to ovulate this cycle. I'm CD 13 with a regular 25-26 day cycle

HopefulRobertsons66202 · 22/04/2020 14:54

WAIT! Just took another one and got a flashing smile!

@lavenderlilaclily I got cheap ones from amazon called easy @ home and they link with the premom app. Cycle 1 of testing and I finally got the strong line today.

Mine say to test between 11 and 4 and don't hold in a wee for it if it helps.
Nearing ovulation to take 2/3 per day.

@GemmaMay3291 have been testing 2x a day from lunchtime onwards. About 2 cycles ago I got a very very faint line but wasn't super convinced about it and then no luck so..will persevere and try going up to 3x a day

lavenderlilaclily · 22/04/2020 15:20

@babyG123 thank you! that's great they link with the app like that, might try that out. exciting about the strong line!!

Runnergirl1 · 22/04/2020 15:26

I’m glad I’m not the only one in this situation trying to get a positive OPKs
Sick as a chip atm. So like I’ve mentioned before my periods are all over the place. Currently on cd19 and still big negatives on the OPKs driving me mad now. We are still DTD (doing the deed) every other day but I really want to know I’m ovulating so o can try then move onto the 2weeks wait until af turns up. Anyone else go through this every month?
ThankS

babyG123 · 22/04/2020 16:06

@lavenderlilaclily I'll attach what I got so you can see, £15.80.... 50 ovulation sticks and 20 pregnancy test ax

@Runnergirl1 mine are all over the place and cd23 today when I got it 🤪 keep trying 🤞🏼

Hi ladies... All this talk about BBT etc is really helpful so thank you to everyone who's sharing their knowledge - so grateful for the real life experience and info.

Does anyone use cervical mucus tracking alone? I've been thinking about stopped all tracking and just keep an eye on my cm... I used to know my body and cycle so well.
My dry days, creamy days, wattery then ecwm, then dry again before af. My energy would change throughout my cycle inline with this and I just felt so in sync with myself.... But since our chemical in early january it's all gone down the pan... So unpredictable.

I feel like should jusg trust my body and my cm again but I just don't know anymore. X

Minster2012 · 22/04/2020 16:35

I will keep going with the BBT then, how do you check your CM, first thing in the morning? Pre wee or post wee? And inside?? Sorry for the questions??

Skyla01 · 22/04/2020 16:44

@Sausage1990 I don't use any tracking apart from an app, and this cycle I only looked at the app once to get predicted ovulation date and not opened it since! I find it much less stressful. So I use rough prediction of ovulation day plus signs like cm and cervical position to know when to DTD. Works for me, however I have regular / predictable cycles.

I would suggest you give it a try if you find tracking difficult / stressful. And remember if you dtd every 2-3 days through the cycle you'll have as good a chance as anyone (I read some studies where cycle tracking didn't improve conception rates at all compared to just dtd regularly). Maybe you'll find yourself getting back in to sync with your body again? You could give it a try, and if you don't like the not knowing you can go back to tracking again.

And ladies if you want a laugh here’s my OPK chart 😂000 all the way!

@paintfairy Will you be rejoining the May bus after your break or are you holding off until June? I still think about you often, hope you're well!

popcorndiva · 22/04/2020 18:22

I am Cd8 today but predicted to ovulate May 2nd so not going to start doing opks till Friday

Newbie0818 · 22/04/2020 18:39

I do @Runnergirl1 ! I gave up on OPKs as I’d never reach full peak, only one strong line. When I did get those lines it was on CD27 and then CD21 on the next cycle. I haven’t tracked the last two so no idea if I’m in the tww or even ovulating 😒 so frustrating. On top of that my last cycle was 46 days long, and I’m on CD36 today. I really think I’m broken 😕

Hi @Sausage1990 I think I saw you on a previous bus 👋🏼 I’ve been trying to track my cm but it seems all over the place 😂 dry, creamy, egg white/ watery, creamy, sticky, now creamy again. I give up!

To everyone just entering their fertile window - enjoy! ✨

Newbie0818 · 22/04/2020 18:46

Here’s one of my very homemade looking opk trackers 😂 think I deleted the other one by accident.

@Juno231 hello Smile

Yes I'll be joining the may bus. Or I'm hoping to! I'm still not sure what on earth my body is doing. My simple break and month off has been a weird month. Definitely a good job I was planning on having it off anyway! I can't decide if AF is here or not. Confused But if not, it should be by the end of this week.

I hope you are ok?

Runnergirl1 · 22/04/2020 19:21

@Newbie0818 - I know it’s not nice but glad I’m not the only one out there with this problem. It’s awful I just don’t know, like you say it’s a guessing game, am I ovulating or not and how we ever supposed to test for pregnancy when we don’t even know when we ovulated. My last cycle was a lovely 28 days but the one before was 46.

@Minster2012 mine look exactly the same. I think at one point I got to 30 And that said high but the line was fainter than a 0 one so who knows how that works

Newbie0818 · 22/04/2020 19:42

@runnergirl11 wow it’s so nice hearing something similar from someone else! Most of these threads are really focused around ovulating dates and it makes me feel like I have a problem! Thanks for sharing ☺️ I was actually meant to have a blood test to see whether I am actually ovulating this cycle but because of the pandemic it couldn’t happen.
Have you always had irregular cycles?

Runnergirl1 · 22/04/2020 19:55

@Newbie0818 Yeah always. They blamed my weight to start with saying I was underweight and that was affecting me. Now I wouldn’t say I was underweight but still all over the place. It is nice to have someone in the same boat. We are just DTD every other day then that way we hopefully catch it but who knows. Yeah a lot can’t be done atm with the pandemic but least we are all staying save

Minster2012 · 22/04/2020 20:01

@Runnergirl1 hmm yeah that’s the problem, I’ve got no idea how long my cycle is. I’ve never had a period before due to chemo treatment I was on depo then when I stopped both my chemo & depo last year no periods for 7 cycles & we were sitting out using my frozen IVF created embryos. When AF came in Nov we started IVF, it worked in Feb but MMC in March. So literally no idea!! 😂🤷‍♀️No idea how long, no idea if I’m ovulating. All I know is that may as well try but the IVF clinic did say I’m pretty infertile so not getting hopes up 🤷‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Newbie0818 · 22/04/2020 20:26

@Runnergirl1 that’s frustrating for you. I’ve only become irregular since coming off the pill in August. I’ll never go on the pill again. We were actually taking a month off of ttc this month due to flights in December, but we were really bad at being protected so now I’m wandering again!

Runnergirl1 · 22/04/2020 20:30

@Minster2012 so sorry to hear that but like you say just got to keep trying. Enjoy it and hopefully we get lucky at some point. You sound like you have been through a lot but have a positive attitude so that’s brilliant.

@newbie0818 - it’s never really bothered me until now - ttc now I’m a lot more aware and don’t like waiting. Oh well I guess if it’s going to happen it will happen. Fingers crossed x
