PMS or Pregnancy

Hey, my fiancé and I have not be actively trying and we use either condoms or withdrawal method as contraception (we both agree that although we're not trying, a baby would be a blessing so we don't mind the risk that withdrawal brings). We've had sex 3 times this cycle using withdrawal successfully. I believe a couple of times was around my fertile window (I track my cycle because it's a bit irregular). I am currently on cycle day 30 and AF has not come yet but on average she show up between day 28 and 32 so that's not too unusual. Since friday the 3rd (cycle day 25) I have been feel nauseated every day pretty much all day long. My boob have also been SO much more sore than they have ever been as a PMS symptom and my nipples are so sensitive and more perky than usual. I don't think my areolas look darker but putting my bra on this morning felt like tiny needles were stabbing me in the nipples... I've also been bloated and gassy and had on and off headaches, cramps and back ache... if AF doesn't show by Friday I think I will test.
I feel like I really could be pregnant and tbh I'm really wishing I am but I feel like I might be setting myself up for disappointment because although I've got all these symptoms, they could be PMS and although there is a chance with the withdrawal method, that chance is slim.
I made this tread so that I can talk to some people who may have some insight and to just generally be able to talk to someone about everything. I know no one can tell me if I am pregnant or not but I'd like to know what other people have experienced and weather I'm being stupidly optimistic thinking I could be pregnant...

@Emae26 so sorry to hear this. Sending you lots of positive wishes for the future. I have been exactly the same over the last few months. The negatives don’t get any easier😢
I am also looking for some advice.
I am 38 and am trying to conceive. I had a miscarriage around four months ago and have been trying since but with no luck. I have been off the pill over a year and became pregnant around five months after this. Before this I had some irregular bleeding and was referred to secondary gynaecologist care but because of an issue with the system I did not have the appointment. My periods have more or less returned to normal except for the last month when my period was five days late (usually a 29 day cycle). When this finished I decided to begin testing for predicted ovulation on day 11 of the new cycle. The first morning I tested (clear blue test) it was a peak result so I couldn’t do any more testing with the kit for this month. We had sex for those two days to try and catch this peak. Now three four days later I have had some spotting and backache. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be the issue?

@eomjthesmallthings sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Sorry I can't really help you but maybe someone else on this thread can. If not, I'm sure if you created a thread yourself someone would have some insight. Hope everything goes well for you ❤

I'm really struggling to shake the feeling that I'm pregnant... I know its probably just wishful thinking but still no AF (the odd tiny bit of blood and pink discharge) and I've still got all these symptoms I don't usually have. Just don't think I'll shake this feeling until I get AF properly

I had awful cramps overnight- I was literally bent over in pain. no cramps since and still only pink discharge at the minute.

Emae26 · 10/04/2020 13:29

@l0v3ro sorry to hear that. Do you know what could has caused that if AF hasn't arrived for you yet? Could it be pregnancy related?

Emae26 Thanks for your help and advice. I really hope you get good news. Try and relax even though I know it’s easier said than done!

@Emae26
My period was very late (for me) last month and I had similar symptoms. It turned out to just be late and I don’t understand why. I don’t feel like I was more stressed or anything. But maybe it could be down to that in your case? It’s so difficult to understand the workings of women’s bodies!

l0v3ro · 10/04/2020 16:15

@Emae26 I have stopped the pink discharge now- I'm on day 34 of roughly 34-38 day cycle so I'm gonna give it two or three more days to see if AF turns up

Emae26 · 10/04/2020 17:07

@eomjthesmallthings trying so hard not to think about it all but it's so hard. I just can't shake this feeling. Every time I go to the loo I've just got that pink discharge when I wipe still and I can't help but get a little hopeful when I see that AF still isn't here day 32 of my cycle... but then I have to bring myself back down to ground and remind myself the test was negative. And then I start thinking 'what if the test wasn't sensitive enough' but I've got to stop thinking that because that isn't a possibility, is it? Sorry I'm just rambling on but I'm literally driving myself crazy...
Its possible that it is just one of those weird things but surely I wouldn't have had (and continue to have) all these symptoms that I don't usually get just randomly... but I guess it's possible.

@l0v3ro glad it's stopped, fingers crossed for you that AF doesn't show

It is possible the digital wasn't sensitive enough, especially if you ovulated late. I would suggest getting a First Response test, they are really sensitive and will give you a clear answer x

Emae26 · 10/04/2020 17:24

@LittleBoyJuly2020 okay that gives me a bit more hope. I think I'll try and hold off for a little bit to see what happens and then go and get one of them on tuesday after the bank holiday weekend has finished. If I haven't started bleeding properly by then then something is definitely not right as everything is so unlike me as it is at the moment x

Well my AF has turned up this evening! I said my husband for some reason I feel really down! It took over a year to fall pregnant with my first, but it's just that every month AF is here!

Emae26 · 10/04/2020 20:26

@l0v3ro so sorry to hear that. Hope next month is your month ❤

Had some more bleeding but it's still not like AF to me. I usually have to wear a night time pad during the day because it's so heavy at the beginning so this is really unlike me. I do need to wear a pad but there isn't much blood, enough to be more than spotting but not like AF (sorry tmi). Should I just accept that this is a weird AF that's not like my usual for some reason or is there still hope?

OP posts:
JungleGiraffe · 11/04/2020 10:08

AF is due and you're bleeding enough to need a pad. The test was negative. I'm sorry but I don't think holding onto false hope will do you any good.

jazzibelle · 15/04/2020 14:06

@Emae26 did you manage to get another test? I've been keeping fingers crossed for you that your bleeding is implantation. Would love to know the outcome of this for you.
