LipstickMum · 12/10/2004 19:07

Evening everyone. This thread just grows and grows! CD26 for me today, no sign of anything at all, AF or otherwise. I am just kind of numbing myself right now, trying not to interpret every single niggle and ache and wave of nausea as something it isn't. I did that last month, convinced myself I could be, but obviously wasn't. So hard, but you all know that.

Hi Shely welcome to one of the warmest, lovliest thread on MN Very sorry to hear about the recent death of your son. I hope things look up for you soon, here's some baby dust for you xxxxxxx

Today is dp's birthday and I did briefly think of doing a test and if it was BFP wrapping it up and giving it to him as a present!! But then I though "stop getting ahead of yourself, at least wait till AF is due/late!" Basically, I would rather live with the vague glimmer of hope for a few days longer!

Ah well, having a gf over and we are watching chick flick tonight

Lots of love and ~~~~~~~~*~ to all.

LipstickMum · 12/10/2004 19:09

Pooka, snap! My period due on Thurs/Fri too. Are you planning on testing some time soon???

Bibi20 · 12/10/2004 19:36

My period is due Thursday too - must.not.test.yet.

Minnie1 - I think somewhere down this thread you asked about the saliva ovulation test - whilst I'm hoping you won't need it, (are you still testing tomorrow?) I would recommend it - mine is a brand called Calista.

Jeddah - sorry to hear that your dh is not being helpful - I can totally sympathise as mine, whilst not a big smoker, just does not get why I have a problem with it (he smokes waccy baccy too).

When we're out and he's had a few beers he has 'sneaky' cigs and sometimes I'm standing right there - he obviously thinks I'm blind and stupid - totally disrespectful. Always contrite and saying he won't do it again (who am I, his mother?) but then he does do it again - sometimes the same evening. I walked out of the bar last time (luckily he followed as he was holding the car keys).

We're getting results from his swimmers test next week so will see whether a show down is necessary.

Are there any supplements that your dh can take to try to counteract the smoking - have heard zinc is very good (especially taking high concentration e.g. at least over 25mg but the higher the better!). I have had my dh taking zinc for the last 3 months - hope it will have an effect (have read it takes 70 days for new sperm to be made).

jeddah · 12/10/2004 21:02

Hi bibi20
nice to know that others are having the same problems.
My dh is taking zinc, but is pointless as he continues to smoke.

Our office is one of our spare rooms and the amount of fall outs we have had as it stinks.

Came home from work tonight as it reaks!... taking about making friggin babies!...what about making dhs stop bloody smoking! they just refuse to realise what it does to their swimmers.
Hes gone the pub for a drink.........(and a load more friggin fags!!) going to have a glass of wine myself and try and think of a different way (from all the others) to tackle it.....it may take 2 or 3 glasses!

pooka · 12/10/2004 22:09

I'm going to try and wait until at least the weekend to use the other test from the two pack, LipstickMum. Wasn't a first response pack, and given irregularity of periods, maybe is better to wait and see rather than waste yet another test.

Jeddah - how much does your dh smoke? Is there any chance he could cut right down, or only have the odd cigarette when socialising. I only suggest this as it is certainly more palatable and maybe more practicable than giving up outright. I think sometimes it's difficult for men to believe or accept that what they do before a baby is conceived or born could actually effect the whole process. Daft, I know, but as an ex-smoker who only gave up when I conceived dd, I know how hard it is to quit until you have something tangible like an actual baby to do it for. Not much help for his sperm, though, I know. Maybe emphasise the manliness and potency plus points of giving up, but I'm sure you've done that already!

LipstickMum · 12/10/2004 22:40

I am going to try and hold out till Monday Pooka. And try and keep busy until then!!!!

Tania2 · 13/10/2004 05:22

OMG you girls can talk!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to all the new TALKERS!!! and best of luck to you all.
Warm welcome to Shelly sorry for your loss I couldn't even imagine what you are going through.
And girls all this chocolate talk makes me HUNGRY yummmmmm.
Iam currently on cd17 and i really really need some advise. I posted yesterday and i think the day b4 asking some questions about my cycle. If anyone has an idea please let me know.
My last cycle was 26 days I thought i had ov on CD9 cramps etc. bd cd7, cd9, cd11 then missed out on bding on cd 12 to 16. today i got a +ive on the ov test cd17 so we bd today. iam really confussed as i have read some of the post on here saying that if you ov on cd 17 or 18 that would be a 33 day cycle iam never late with af it usually comes between 26 to 28 days.
Can you ov late but still have a "normal cycle"?
or Should i expect my af to arrive late and not be pg?? iam soooo confused. if have ov today it would be around 10 days till my af is due is this still ok? can i still fall pg or does the end of the cylce from ov to af need to be longer is so WHY????

runtus · 13/10/2004 08:47

Oh god Tania2 wish I could help but I'm rubbish at what everything means when all the dates shift! Why can't our cycles go to textbook like they are supposed to??! Hope someone else can help you..........

I've taken your advice (sorry can't remember who helped me out) and carried on temping through af and so far have got 3 v different readings. Is this normal? They are generally going up in temp and today got a reading of 97.16 - does that sound right??

So sorry to hear about the loss of your little boy Shelly - give yourself some time and see what the scan shows today, you never know it might be a good day after all!

Sallie, sorry about your big disappointment and don't fret love we all make the daftest mistakes sometimes. I drove into some poor girl at the weekend!

sweetheart · 13/10/2004 08:52

Right you lot!!!!! What happened to the no chatting rule!!!!!!

I'M BACK!!!!! Yeah!!!! (although only for 1 day before I get torn away from MN again!!!!!) I'll have to have a massive dose today to keep me going!!! Mind you - I've got loads of work to catch up on so that's probably not going to happen

I've been dying to know about your result all weekend Runtus, so sorry to hear it was a BFN - has af arrived yet????

Well done on dishing out the choc cake - you've done me proud.

Cobweb, I'm so sorry to hear what you've been going through. I hope it all works out OK for you.

And lastly, welcome to all the new ttcers!!!! I'm sorry I haven't mentioned you all by name but I've had so much to catch up on. I'm sure I'll lern your names in time.

Everyone else - go forth and multiply!!!!

runtus · 13/10/2004 08:56

S/heart what a nice surprise!

AF arrived with a vengence on Sat morning, almost over now thank goodness. I've been a good girl and have been temping away since it started......not sure I've got the hang of it yet though! Hopefully I'll be a bit better with the old ov kits though. Might have a look for one of the fern tests thst I've read about - anyone know where I can get one quickly??

MINNIE1 · 13/10/2004 09:05

Morning ladies,

Shely,
Welocme to MN, Sorry for the loss of your son, wow your story hit me. were all here for you..
And Fingers Crossed for you this month

spykid / sallie / pooka
Well i can't say much cause i done a PG test yesterday!!!!! BFN why i do this to myself i din't know.. Way to early to do one so i'm going to leave it for a while...

Jeddah,
Hope you are feeling better today..

Bibi20,
Hoping i won't need one, but if i don't get PG this month i will buy one for next... I can't be letting the months slip away.. I tested yesterday and BFN so i might leave it till the weekend as my AF is late usually 36 day cycle..

Twiga · 13/10/2004 10:09

Morning all . Not much happening here, just counting down the days til af due - does anyone know why time seems to slow down at this point in your cycle ? Sweetheart, good to have you back - MrsFlowerpot has graduated while you were away, so we're up to four and not far off Hesters guess of six!

Tessiebear · 13/10/2004 10:32

Wow! Just took about 20 mins for me to catch up on the chat!
Tania - I am no expert but i am sure you Luteal phase(from when you OV to your AF)needs to be about 10 days - i dont know why but HULABABY is the one that would have the best advice on this
There are loads of us on about the same CD here waiting to test. I am CD28 (but dont think i OVed until CD23 so i am not testing until about CD37.
Am imagining every little symptom - but i definately dont feel the usual AF symptoms at the moment

Tania2 · 13/10/2004 11:00

Thanks Runtus and Tessiebear for replying to my post. This ttc is so confussing isn't it!!
Hulababy are you about can you shed some light on this for me please oh wise one!!!
Iam so worried that i have missed my chance this month after being away for the wedding and not being able to bd then when we got back i have been so very tired fell asleep on couch every night this week dh has had to wake me to go to bed hopfully today was a good one. his sperm is proberly usless as we hadn't bd since Thursday night.

Bibi20 · 13/10/2004 11:31

Hi Tania2

I'm no expert either, but had a few thoughts:

Firstly think this is the month you were taking the chinese herbs - this could well affect the length of your cycle, so might not be easy to compare to previous ones?

If your luteal phase is at least 10 days this should be long enough for implantation, and if you ovulate on day 17 then a 10 LP would give you a 27 day cycle so this would be consistent with your previous cycles...

Can't remember your history but have you been checking your ov dates before now - could it be that you always ovulate a little bit later in your cycle (I do, but my cycles aren't considered 'long' as they're 28-32 days with a 12 day LP) but you are only aware of it now because you're checking more?

Another thing is that, as I understand it, whilst your ovulation can be delayed / variable, your luteal phase is always the same length, so if you do ovulate later than usual, your cycle will be longer but that shouldn't affect your chances.

Hope that helps and doesn't just make you more confused!

LipstickMum · 13/10/2004 11:53

Bibi, that was a really comprehensive and well explained description of ovulation, cycles, luteal phase and all that.

I haven't really started to monitor anything like that... yet. We're in about our 3rd month of ttc, so I didn't wanted to try and be as relaxed as possible at the beginning!!

cd27 here big sigh Keeping busy, trying not to think about it.

Tania2 · 13/10/2004 12:05

Thank you so much Bibi20 that really makes sence now. This is the first month that i have been able to use a test that i can use everyday so i think you are right i haven't really noticed till now. Maybe this is where we have been going wrong. Thanks again.

Tessiebear · 13/10/2004 12:37

Gosh - its a bit quiet on here today - where is everyone - anyone testing today?

MINNIE1 · 13/10/2004 12:41

i know keep checking in,
I have put off testing until the wkend..
A quick question!!!!
Does anyone have this problem?? When its cold does anyone feel the nipples tingling ?? Mine are gone mad.. I have even started to wear a body wamer jacket.. and i'm in an office all day. HELP!!!

Tessiebear · 13/10/2004 12:43

Minnie- my nipples are EXACTLY the same today!!! I have been wondering if it is the weather or "something else" (am CD 28 and symptom hunting!)

MINNIE1 · 13/10/2004 12:47

Tessiebear - its been happening for a while (bout 5-6days) boobs are'nt sore as such.. CD27 for me.. havnt got any other symtoms though.. I'll have to look on the net and see if i can come up with an answer..

SHELY · 13/10/2004 13:03

well, unfortunately af reared her ugly head this morning, after being almost 7 days late boy oh boy is this a painful one. craming and backaches like never before ughh, at least now i can safely take a painkiller. iam quite dissapointed. even though i say i won't get my hopes up, i guess i can clearly see now, i kind of did. i guess it's impossible for us gals not to right? gotto drag on for yet another month! i am starting to use my clear plan easy monitor today, and now i can schedule an HSG test appointment for mid-month, in this cycle, plus we have a specialist appointment to go to tomorrow morning, so at least things are getting done.

as for the ultrasound, the damn technician, would not disclose any information about the test results. there was a sign in the waiting room that say, don't even ask, but i can usually finagle an answer out of them one way or the other, this time---nothing!! i was dissapointed, cause i was so nervous about the test, especially after my hellish nightmare about it, but i gotto wait till this afternoon to hear. i know now for sure, it's not going to tell me iam pregnant at least i got you gals to help carry me through another month. i better get to the store, and get some new lingerie, to fire up the hubby's engine this month. he's got alot of work to do, wink, wink. thanks for soo much support, you gals are the most awesome bunch of ladies, i have ever encountered. i'll keep you posted!! ps- wow i see why you have to keep making new threads, you guys can chat, i love it

Tessiebear · 13/10/2004 13:12

Shely - Sorry about your AF. I forgot to say when i posted earlier but - so sorry for your devestating loss.
Re: spicing things up for BDing - last month i had a Brazilian wax - certainly did the trick

Twiga · 13/10/2004 13:25

Tessiebear, my eyes water at the mere thought! Shely all the best for on going tests and for this coming month +++++++++ Sweetheart I'll probably not get the chance to catch up with you before you're off again - on shift until tomorrow at 2.30pm - too lazy to read back down the thread, but have a good time whatever you're up to - can you leave the cake with runtus again?

Cobweb, another day closer, thinking of you, take care x

onamnbreakbut · 13/10/2004 13:26

i had to pop in and see how everyone is doing. As a former member and founder of this months thread i wanted to see how you were all getting on and all i can say is WOW

Well done to the graduates

and so sorry for the af's but that does mean more bding

Im on cd 18 now and ov'd early on cd 9 or 10 and i swear to the heavens above that i am pregnant otherwise i am going nuts. I have no obvious symptoms its just a feeling, an aura iyswim. Something is different. Anyone experince this

My boobs arnt sore or tender but they are noticably just there, im aware of them, like when i put a top on it feels tighter, if someone brushes by me i feel it,when i go up and down the stairs i can feel them rubbing, my nip nips are tingley. Its so hard to explain but i bet some of you know what i mean

Two nights of waking with a hot sweat (unfortuanltley it wasnt Dp trying it on)

And my eyes, yes my eyes, they fell heavy and glazed but when i look in the mirror they are really bright and sparkly.I look really healthy.

Ill let you know how i get on, good luck to you all. Tessie bear any graphic details of anything you need to share with us xxxxx
