Are symptoms in tww really that important??

Cycle 2 ttc #1 ... I know I've only just started but I've wanted this for as long as I can remember and it's so hard at times. As bitter as it sounds, the worst bit is friends and family around you getting pregnant.

So my question is, why do we all drive ourselves mad symptom spotting during tww, isn't it likely that symptoms during tww are actually the minority of cases, with most women having no telltale sings before bfp??

Anyone here had a bfp without loads of symptoms before missed period ?x

I had no symptoms except a teeny bit of spotting.

Newbie1992 · 11/01/2020 18:26

I wish I had something that was a definite sign !! You're lucky:) I had a bit of ewcm on days 7 and 9 dpo (day 9 was slightly yellowish) and it just is actually making me feel even more let down by the fact that I'm probably not pregnant but this symptom spotting makes me feel like.. I dunno haha mad !

I wouldn't look for symptoms tbh. Tough as it is, I'd just wait for the test and try not to think about it. Good luck though x

There is no point whatsoever in symptom spotting. There aren't any definitive pregnancy symptoms; sickness and tender breasts can only definitely be linked to pregnancy after around 5-6 weeks any way, by which time you will have had a positive test.

We have all kinds of little "symptoms" in our daily life. It only seems to be when TTC that we assume that it could be linked to pregnancy and not any other of the many factors affecting us.

I've never had symptoms in the TWW. Think I tried to convince myself the first time around that I did; bloating and tiredness.

None of my symptoms kicked in until about 6 weeks. Started with sore boobs and the nausea each time.

Good luck!! Hope this month is your month 🤞🏻

Thanks for replies... it's nice to hear some real life experience because anyone I speak with who is ttc, including myself, just imagines most of these symptoms and we are torturing ourselves !!x

@newbie1992 the only symptoms i got were like strong PMS
And dull ache and cramps but that was at 13/14dpo

INeedNewShoes · 11/01/2020 19:35

No symptoms at all for until at least 5 weeks! Even after that point my only symptoms was nausea.

ReyGal · 11/01/2020 19:45

In my first cycle of TTC I convinced myself I was pregnant because of symptoms I spotted - I felt nauseous, my boobs were tender and then was very upset when I got a bfn as was sure I was pregnant. In the end I was 14 days late.

Cycle 2 when I got my bfp I had no idea - no symptoms whatsoever didn’t even think about the fact I was 7 days late because of the lateness in the previous cycle. It was only when my OH looked at me strangely putting hot sauce all over my food (I hate spicy food) and I saw 3 pregnant women on the train to work that I thought oh I’m late maybe I should test just to be sure!

It may be easy for others to say but we can easily drive ourselves mad symptom spotting - I didn’t end up with any symptoms until 6 weeks and even then it was light nausea and heightened sense of smell.

With my first I had no symptoms at all, I took a test on the day my period was due and it was positive. Symptoms started a few days later. It is SO hard not to look for symptoms when it's something we want so badly, but I think any symptoms you do have are probably coincidence as the levels of HCG won't be high enough to give you symptoms until they're high enough to give you a BFP!

AppropriateAdult · 11/01/2020 20:37

I’ve been pregnant three times now. The only symptom I’ve ever had in the 2ww - and it’s happened all three times - is an increase in cervical mucus coming up to when my period would be due. No sore boobs, no nausea, no cramps - it’s just too early for any of those things to happen.

Indigo89 · 11/01/2020 22:27

I had no symptoms before BFP first time. I think it was because we weren't actively TTC so I wasn't looking fir symptoms.

TTC number 2 now and symptom spotting like crazy.

georgialondon · 11/01/2020 22:33

The months when I had the most symptoms were the ones when I wasn't pregnant.. so I'd say no.

FireflyGirl · 12/01/2020 00:17

The last twice I've been pregnant (ended in MMC then CP) I knew I was pregnant a few days before I was even due to start (10dpo-ish). My boobs felt 'full' and I was getting 'tugging' in my uterus every time I sneezed/turned over in bed.

Think it varies from woman to woman depending on your sensitivity to the hormones.

mimmi91 · 12/01/2020 09:55

@Newbie1992 I'm also freaking out about the next steps!!
I think the doctors can wait for a bit, I want to rule out a chemical.....

StopMegxit · 12/01/2020 09:58

With DC1, I had no symptoms at all and it was actually the feeling fine/no PMT that made me do a test, which was positive!

With DC2, I threw up very suddenly about 3 days before my period was due. Just an out of the blue, one-off projectile. I tested on my period due date and it was positive.

All the other symptoms people associate with early pregnancy - funny taste in your mouth, sore breasts, needing to see etc - I didn’t get until I was around 6 weeks pregnant.
