Conceiving when breastfeeding - are the symptoms any different?

Last time I conceived I had lots of mucous which sort of gave things away and felt sick and tired all the time.

Now I'm breastfeeding DD (have had one period), have monsterously sore boobs, absolutely exhaustion, and lots of CM when I wipe (sorry if TMI) but not as much CM as last time. I wondered whether the breastfeeding was drying things out a bit.

BTW I can't test for another ten days and it's driving me nuts but I was aware I was pregnant last time within about six hours of conception!

Ah!

Maybe a bit of distraction then when out shopping...?

whomovedmychocolate · 24/08/2007 11:46

Yes, you are right - abandoning my MiL in Marks and Spencers would be a nice distraction. Not sure how it'd help me in the pregnancy test stakes though

Can you get DH to nip out and get some tests for you and then discreetly do it while MIL hung over tmw am??? lol!

choolie · 24/08/2007 14:22

can you ask MIL to wait outside chemist with DD whilst you nip in for "some snaitary towels" or some such thing??? we're all as keen to know as you now!!! FX.

Crookshanks, I live in the middle of nowhere - going shopping is a strategic mission involving driving miles, parking, buggying up DD, running the gauntlet of Big Issue sellers and people who want to flog you shit hand creams to get to Boots. then debuggying, reloading, putting DD back into her carseat once she's escaped, escaping the car park without hitting the dumbass wardens who step out into the driveways without looking (nearly got one this week - will next time), driving home and finding sixty seconds when I am not being nuzzled, wee'd on, have a limpet like child biting my calves or covered in sick.

No mean feat!

You are all going to have to wait a few days - besides it really is too early to test! Next Friday I'll test. Besides which I've ordered some tests online so they won't come till Tuesday probably.

Sorry!

Thanks Sobernow. I do hope so but I feel somewhat better today - not so knackered, although still the snail trail and sore boobs

Do you mean to say that if the tests arrive on Tuesday that you will be able to wait till Friday to test?? You have much more willpower than I do!

CrookshanksinJimmyChoos · 24/08/2007 20:55

pmsl at snail trail.....

whomovedmychocolate · 25/08/2007 08:58

I don't know when to test tbh - have had one period three and a bit weeks ago but not sure if it was a proper one IYSWIM?

Just read this:
Two sperm are swimming in a women's body.

One sperm says to the other in exhaustion, "Whew, just how far is the uterus anyway?"

The second sperm begins to laugh and says, "The uterus!? We just past the oesophogus."

Urggh DD just produced what looked like muconium - whatever is going on with me is having some unfortunate side effects with her. I've never had to scrape before.

Intriguing!

Actually the local Mumsnet meet up is Wednesday, perhaps I should wait till then and we can all blog from the toilets together

oh dear. Very unlikely but i suppose possible.....the last couple of weeks i've had loads of CM.
I'm still breastfeeding at 13 months and periods have not yet returned. Have had hardly any cm since dd was born.
could be periods about to return maybe?
Been very tired and irritable, but dd feeding more not less!

we're not ttc yet....would be a bit of a shock!
