Conceiving when breastfeeding - are the symptoms any different?

Last time I conceived I had lots of mucous which sort of gave things away and felt sick and tired all the time.

Now I'm breastfeeding DD (have had one period), have monsterously sore boobs, absolutely exhaustion, and lots of CM when I wipe (sorry if TMI) but not as much CM as last time. I wondered whether the breastfeeding was drying things out a bit.

BTW I can't test for another ten days and it's driving me nuts but I was aware I was pregnant last time within about six hours of conception!

thanks WMMC, had to dash off last night to feed, so only just seen this!

I conceived again when DS was 7mo, and it was him that let me know - faffed at the breast, pulled faces as though my milk tasted bad! up to then he had been REALLY into bf so I knew something was up....

DD has now reverted to bf babypoop - urrgggh the yellowness of it all

Don't know if that is significant but I'd forgotten just how much of it they produce!

could be. My dd1's poo got a bit loose when I was pregnant.

whomovedmychocolate · 23/08/2007 18:44

Oooh the plot thickens (even if the poop doesn't).

It is bleugh. Luckily dd potty trained while I was pregnant but yours is only little I think?

I got a positive 10 days post ovulation with acon diagnositics tests......

whomovedmychocolate · 23/08/2007 20:20

Ooh project icarus - you temptress - first morning urine was it? Yes DD is only ten months. Oh bugger the little monkey is up again! arrrgh will that girl never sleep?

Might try after the weekend. Am desperate to know though and will be v sad if it's neg so don't want to test very early. But am on day 21 now sooooooo..........

'acon diagnositics tests' what's that then?

OP posts:
ProjectIcarus · 23/08/2007 21:03

hold on

whomovedmychocolate · 23/08/2007 21:07

Ah, I googled, now I see. But that's just a doctor version of the normal test isn't it - or is it more sensitive?

ProjectIcarus · 23/08/2007 21:10

I think it was these

I never once got an evaporation line with these. I bought loads because i was a) breastfeeding and not regular and b) a headcase

I seem to remember weeing on a stick, sticking it in the bathroom cabinet and going off to deal with dd1. 15 mins later i wandered in remembered about it, opened cupboard to check expecting nothing and ta daa - a line. The tests do say the usual 10 min thing but I never once got an evap line and I only had about 5 left when I got pregnant.

ProjectIcarus · 23/08/2007 21:11

10miu is v sensitive but it is the lack of evap line I was thinking about for you.

whomovedmychocolate · 23/08/2007 21:12

Ooh I just found a really good site which explains HCG levels and dates and things here. Am off for a quick read up to try and convince myself whether or not to test early.

a comparison of hormone levels detectedd by various tests

here

whomovedmychocolate · 23/08/2007 21:16

Might have a go in the morning if I get a chance to pee - before DD launches herself on my boobs and I get to desperate to go I forget to test when I do get a chance!

Thanks for that PI - fingers crossed for me then.

Absolutely.

whomovedmychocolate · 23/08/2007 21:27

Depends if DD stops using my nipples as a chewtoy!

OP posts:
ProjectIcarus · 23/08/2007 21:29

Mine fought past that stage. At one point she used to suckle while clutching a sippy cup, then sit up and have a drink.

In months 1 to 3 it felt as though she was scraping me constantly with her teeth but her latch was fine just super sensitive I guess combined with lack of supply.

whomovedmychocolate · 23/08/2007 21:33

Oh she feels like a sink plunger made of knives at the minute

Also she keeps pulling off to poke me in the eye

Nutcase child!

ooooooh good description - it quite took me back.

Your dd is two months younger than my dd2. They are a pita to feed at that age. Dd2 currently likes playing peek a boo with my nipple when we are lying in bed in the morning. I have no idea how she manages to look so pleased every single time she hauls my cami down.

whomovedmychocolate · 23/08/2007 21:39

LOL - DD does that. She undid my bra cup in Sainsbury's yesterday when I was loading stuff onto the conveyor belt . Then she yelled 'moo moo' really loud to draw attention while I tried to reclip it.

In retrospect it's funny, but at the time grrrrr.....

OP posts:
ProjectIcarus · 23/08/2007 21:43

snort at moo.

Mine signs - far more discreet .

whomovedmychocolate · 24/08/2007 07:32

Arrrggghhhh stymied by crap tests! Did two pregnancy tests from Sainsbury this morning - neither worked at all! ARRRGGHHH and MiL is coming to stay today so no chance of getting another into my shopping basket without twenty questions.

Oh well perhaps it's for the best

OP posts:
Guitargirl · 24/08/2007 08:26

Ohhhh, I read this last night, can you ask MIL to look after DD while you nip out for a bit to get a test?

whomovedmychocolate · 24/08/2007 09:19

ROFL at the thought of me ever being stupid enough to leave DD with MiL! She's over eighty and would probably try and get her drunk!
