1 year after stopping the pill?

Luckylola12 · 27/10/2019 14:39

Hi all! So just a question, i stopped the pill in september 2018. Since then i have had 9 periods all ranging from 39-45 days. This month (roughly a year stopping the pill) i have had a 31 day period and i moticed alot of ewcm 14 days before! Does this mean a year after stopping the pill my body is finally regulating itself?

I guess what im trying to ask is has anyone had any similar stories? Or any successfull bfp after stopping the pill? Also my breasts started hurting for the first time ever about a week before af arrived!

Hi
I'm in a similar position. I stopped taking the pill in Jan but I didn't start having periods again until May. They seemed to be really regular at 32 days so I was optimistic everything was working properly!! Recently I've had 2 longer cycles (43 & 49 days) which has confused me and also makes it very difficult to predict ovulation! Not to mention getting my hopes up that I could be pregnant.
Fingers crossed our bodies know what they are doing!!! It's good to know its not just me struggling after coming off the pill.

Luckylola12 · 27/10/2019 19:29

Hi @confused1989 oh i know bodys are so confusing! Fingers crossed for you! Do you remember what your cycles were like before you went on the pill?

OP posts:
Confused1989 · 27/10/2019 21:48

Nope! I went on the pill as a teenager, so I hadn't had a natural period for nearly 15 yrs. What about you?

Luckylola12 · 28/10/2019 12:29

Same here! Was on the pill for 10 years since i was 16!

OP posts:
whatdayisit7 · 28/10/2019 12:47

@Luckylola12 I went on the pill at 16 and was on it for 12 years. It took a full year for my body to settle into a pattern.

Confused1989 · 28/10/2019 13:29

Are you guys tracking your periods to predict your fertile window? Or using other methods like ovulation sticks? I've only been using an app to track my cycle, but with irregular periods it's not very accurate.

whatdayisit7 · 28/10/2019 15:11

I've been ttc since June 2018 and I have found opk sticks and temping the most reliable way of tracking my ovulation. I don't ovulate until cd21

Confused1989 · 29/10/2019 13:08

How do you monitor your temp? Do you have a specific thermometer for it? Also does your ovulation move when your cycle length changes? Or are your cycles regular now.
Sorry for the personal questions, I'm still getting my head round things!

Whatdayisit7 · 29/10/2019 14:57

@Confused1989 I use a thermometer that is accurate to two decimal places. Basically, you take your temperature each morning as soon as you wake up, before you get up/move and then record it on a chart. I use an app called Fertility Friend. I'll attach a picture of mine this cycle. Your temperature is higher after you ovulate due to progesterone so you will see a clear thermal shift on your chart. Temping is the only reliable method of proving that ovulation has occurred. My luteal phase is always 14 days so yes, my ovulation date has changed based on how long my cycle is. My shortest cycle was 30 days meaning I ovulated on cd16.

1 year after stopping the pill?
Jam234 · 29/10/2019 15:08

Hi all. Can i join in? I was on the pill for about 7 years. I only stopped taking my pill at the end of sept this year. I had my withdrawal bleed the following week. My first AF arrived today. Could this mean my cycle has returned to normal the first month?

Luckylola12 · 29/10/2019 16:11

@whatdayisit7 thanks for sharing! So are you now getting regular periods? Thats interesting that it can take a whole year for your body to sort out after the pill!

OP posts:
Luckylola12 · 29/10/2019 16:12

@Jam234 yes it probably does! It can take anywhere from 1-3 months after stopping, for me it was 3 months! Good luck ttc =)

Thanks. I was hoping somebody would tell me what i wanted to believe haha. Im still not fully convinced considering i was on the pill for so long.! Hence why i didnt track ovulation this month or anything. Im going to try take the laid back approach as i have read a couple of threads on here and i see it can drive ppl crazy!! Hopefully you are on the right path now too!!

other89 · 29/10/2019 16:32

Can I join too? I stopped my pill in June hoping to give it a couple of months to settle as I heard that it takes a while to settle. The first three cycles were normal ranging from 28 to 32 days and we weren't trying. Then I had a random 47 day cycle and am just waiting to see if this cycle is back to normal. I've had awful skin for my 47 day cycle so think that I had a rush of hormones that month and so my cycle has been a bit off. Hoping to start trying again in December once I know they have settled down a bit more. :)

Confused1989 · 29/10/2019 21:53

Thank you @whatdayisit7
Definately looks like something to look into. Planning to keep it reasonably casual til the end of the year, then planning to ramp it up and invest in a thermometer and ovulation sticks!
Good luck everyone!!!
@jam234, @Luckylola12 and @other89 I hope your cycles stay regular Smile

Mycrazylife85 · 29/10/2019 22:04

I stopped the pill in January and waited 74 days then 54 days, now it's 38/39 days. That's it really. It's as god as it's getting I think. I was on the pill for 17 years and before I THINK it may have been 35 days. I've been using OPK and at least my period arrives around 13-14 days after a positive. Although last month I had about five days of dark old blood spotting before I came on. A sign of low progesterone. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Jam234 · 29/10/2019 23:03

Thanks @Confused1989 i hope so too!! I did read on another thread they can be normal for a month or two then be quite irregular. I think i ovulated two weeks ago so i am hoping this month i will be the same. I am trying not to obsess with the tracking just yet. I wonder hoe long it will last!!

other89 · 01/11/2019 18:25

@Jam234 Mine were regular for the first couple of months and then went a bit funny. I'm hoping it was just a blip and that this month they are back to normal. I've tried to take a few OKP's this month and think I managed to get a high on cycle day 21. Hopefully when I start trying in December i'll have an idea of when I ovulate.
Fingers crossed for you all to!!

Jam234 · 01/11/2019 18:50

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I cant seem to tag you ha. Yea i think i spoke too soon its a bit strange a lot lighter than what i thought it would be. I have decided not to track ovulation and that for the first month or two but i think i ovulated two weeks after i stopped. Its just so confusing when you first come off the pill. I think my body is just getting used to all the hormones 😂 hopefully it doesnt take long!!

RolytheRhino · 01/11/2019 18:52

Came off the pill and got pregnant immediately- never had a period. The midwife said that loads of women get pregnant more or less straight away and the rest seem to take quite a long time.

Jam234 · 01/11/2019 19:34

Yes i have heard that too.!! Im off it 4 weeks now and i think i ovulated already so hopefully i catch it this month

Diamond94 · 21/11/2019 14:33

Hi Smile
I was just wondering if anyone has any updates post pill?

I stopped cerazzete 4 weeks ago now, still no AF yet! Driving myself insane already Hmm

MrsERH · 21/11/2019 14:50

@Diamond94 - I came off Cerazette at the end of July and it took about 5 weeks to get any sort of bleed (I didn't have any bleeding the whole 10 years I was on it). The first one was really short and felt more like a withdrawal bleed (more brown in colour than red) and then I got a full blown period 3-4 weeks after that so don't stress!

TTC #1 as well - currently in the TWW and so hard to not think about it all the time!!

Diamond94 · 21/11/2019 14:59

@MrsERH Hi 👋🏼
