Hello Smile

I had my implant out yesterday after being on it for just over 5 years. Plan is to TTC #1 but absolutely in no rush and not putting any pressure on ourselves.

I'm interested to hear about people's experiences after removal in terms of period/consistent cycle return? I've read all the threads on here but I'm confused that everybody is told different things by their nurse/doctor. Mine told me yesterday to expect a first period in 6 weeks. (I haven't had any periods at all in 5yrs whilst the implant was in).

Thank you all in advance!

@CooperLooper glad you have finally ovulated! Did you TTC? I have finally had movement on the period front but not sure when to expect ovulating :( so all over the place!

CooperLooper · 07/11/2019 20:11

Hey @georgiexo 😊 we DTD 2 days before my peak LH, on the day, and also the day after. But I've started spotting/light bleeding today on what should either be 4 or 5DPO so I've just no idea. How are you getting on, when did your AF start? X

@CooperLooper fingers crossed for you, let us know how you get on in a couple of weeks! It came and went and then came and went again two weeks later which felt like a more natural normal one with pains etc so expecting ovulation 2 weeks from now.. will keep tracking with tests and hope for the best!

Xx

Hey, I had nexplannon in for 6 years and had no periods at all in that time. I had it removed the first week in January of this year and got my BFP today. My cycles were irregular for around 3 months, after than I had regular 28 day cycle with 5 days of AF. Hope that helps 😊

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 10/11/2019 21:44

Implant out 9th Jan, positive pregnancy test 14th Feb (1-2 weeks pg on Clearblue digital). No period in between.

CooperLooper · 11/11/2019 11:10

@Bellaamore congrats!

I just got my implanon out 30th September had light bleed on 4th October and had a bfp start of November! Good luck!

LauDe · 11/11/2019 17:52

I had my implant out on the 11th September (it had technically expired in April - there was a waiting list to have it removed) after using the implant as BC continuously since I was 21 (I’m 34 now) I was already having a period then. Had another normal period on the 4th October then got my BFP on the 26th October.

Just to update, ovulating naturally for the first time after implant being out for 1 week shy of a year!

Tapada · 09/01/2020 09:27

@georgiexo that's great news! I'm still not ovulating (7 months on) so that gives me a bit of confidence! Best of luck xx

georgiexo · 09/01/2020 11:44

Thank you @Tapada you too! I was starting to worry, but others have said it took them two years to regulate! Go to gp if you’re worried, mine did blood tests and then put me on ‘Provera’ to induce periods.

CooperLooper · 12/01/2020 20:16

@georgiexo honestly I'm never going back on the implant when I'm ready for contraception again, it's taken me a lot longer to get my cycles back than I thought so all that bollocks about fertility coming back immediately is misleading and a bit unfair to say to people. I'm glad you're back to ovulating naturally, but what a long journey it's been for you to get to that point, you must be mentally drained from it all 😔

I'm 4 months in from having mine out now and still not back to normal. Only two 'bleeds' in 4 months that we're really light and only a day long, and both tones I bled 4 days and then 9 days after ovulating. I'm now CD18 of this cycle and no ovulation yet.

Fed up, pissed off, annoyed that my body isn't doing what it's supposed to be doing. And I can't honestly say I blame it, after unnaturally being made to not have periods for the 5-6 yrs I had the implant in. Honestly 🤯

@Tapada what has your doctors said? Anything they can do for you to help? X

@CooperLooper it’s frustrating isn’t it! But I’ve heard from people that it’s taken them two years so don’t lose hope. I gave up on it all for ages because I knew nothing was happening, then after 8 months went to the gp to say I wanted to try for a baby but periods haven’t come back and they put me on provera to induce periods. Which obviously has kick started natural ovulation for this cycle anyway! We shall see if it continues.

What’s meant to be will be!

Tapada · 12/01/2020 21:22

@CooperLooper I don't think I'll ever bother taking contraception again as it seems impossible to get pregnant 😂 I've not been to the GP yet - I am having periods (albeit long and irregular cycles) but haven't ovulated yet. I'm trying to relax about it so going to leave it a bit longer and wait and see. Have you been?

CooperLooper · 13/01/2020 11:46

Well fingers crossed you for @georgiexo! X

@Tapada no I haven't been, I'm sure they'd probably send me on my way and tell me to just wait for a bit longer if I did! My isn't isn't ovulation, it's starting AF after a really short space of tome afterwards, my two luteal phases since coming off the implant have been 4DPO and 9DPO and the bleed is just too light for it to be proper periods 😔 friggin nightmare X
