Just got a BFP. I took the test during my lunch break, it was more out of boredom than a real belief that I could be preggers.

Am totally stunned.

I have only had 1 AF since giving birth a year ago. That AF was eight weeks ago. I was not surprised when another did not follow 4 weeks later as I thought it would take a while for normal service to resume.

The thing is I have not had sex since the AF. Seriously. Therefore one of the following most be true:

  1. I was pregnant before last AF and it was not a real AF. But it was very, very heavy so this seems an unlikely option. It would also make me quite far along (10 weeks?) which is too scarey for words.

  2. This is an immacualte conception.

I am not at all sure what to beleive. Am sitting at my desk staring at the test. Have not called DP yet. Maybe I should call the Vatican instead.

I think it's a bit premature to be calling this a wind up. It has been hours, not days. And if it's true (which I think it is) and she had bad news she will surely not enjoying reading that comment.

It is entirely possible that she miscarried at that heavy period and there is still some pregnancy hormone linguering.

So, let's hold back on the wind up accusations.

NotQuiteCockney · 01/08/2007 08:53

Pregnancy hormones, and a positive test result, 8 weeks after a mc means retained materials and a D+C. Which isn't a great prospect, to put it mildly.

NotQuiteCockney · 01/08/2007 08:54

(I hope it's not that, but I'm just saying ...)

LittleSquirt · 01/08/2007 08:54

I agree.

And she also did explain that she did an HPT as she "felt" pregnant. Doesn't sounds that unlikely or strange to me?

Egg · 01/08/2007 08:59

Agree also, I used to do PG tests sometimes when we had not had unprotected sex and had little or no chance of conceiving, just because I felt a bit sick...

Really hope news is good.

Piggy · 01/08/2007 09:01

Very good point NQC. Hope she's ok.

duchesse · 01/08/2007 09:02

Happened to me. Didn't believe it till I saw her on the scan, at 11 weeks You shorten the pregnancy to somewhat more manageable proportions.

Anyway, congrats and all that.

Easywriter · 01/08/2007 09:05

Ooooo! It's 9.03. Surely she's at work but not working.

OliveIsSoNotHereAndOnABreak · 01/08/2007 09:59

this happened to a relative of dh's

pregnant, had miscarriage

then still felt pregnant, did test, was still pregnant

turned out she was pregnant with twins and had lost one, but one survived

not sure how common this is, but this could be the case with ISAA

Guys I am so, so sorry to keep you all on tenterhooks. I had no idea how many of you would be waiting around.

Mia Culpa. Mia Culpa. Any way enough Christian cantations. Although I should be practising because...

....

....

I HAVE A BABY IN MY TUMMY AND IT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN THERE FOR NEARLY 11 WEEKS

Was reeling after scan. Still am. Can't quite figure it out at all. Am off to see GP today to discuss bleeding etc. The doctor at the scan place said all looked well . He said that such heavy bleeding was very unusual but can happen. He suggested several possiblities including a lost twin . But bascially he told me to talk to my own doctor.

I am afraid I was in such shock I picked up DD and went to my in-laws as DP was not coming back 'til very late. In-laws don't have internet access. If its any comfort I was dying to get on here almost as much as you were dying for me to give an update.

So to summarise. Its not the Son Of God. It was conceived in the usual way. But God only knows what the AF was.

I am and all at once.
