BFP at CD12!

AF started 12 days ago. I did an OPK today which gave a strong (and unexpected positive - a bit too early). I had some ebay cheapo hpt so I decided to test (maybe I'm going mad, but last af was lighter than usual) and instantly bfp! Do I believe these cheapo tests? So I've bought a clearblue, but currently can't squeeze out a drop of wee. I thought having af whilst pregnant was a myth.

Umm yes, pregnancy tests sometimes give false negatives but not false positives - you are UP THE DUFF, in the club, etc.

NB I tested positive at day 19 with DD! Be careful though, early high hormone levels can sometimes indicate multiples.

My Mum had AF's most of the way through her pg with my youngest sis, even though it was her 8th pg she didnt realise. So nto a myth.

So you could be further gone than you expected. Likely are tbh.

Clearblue was strong positive. Very confused. Last AF can't have been a real AF. Now I'm worried it's a false positive - maybe I have an ovarian cyst, I've read that they can produce HCG.

it sounds like your last af wasnt an af at all! congratulations! get thee to the docs and ask for a dating scan!

It is a possibility, but i think it's unlikely don't you??!! Think about the other symptoms and the fact that you were trying! You know that you can have AF during pg but your's sounds more like an implantation bleed or other, again, congrats.

I know I'm just thinking of the worse case scenario. It's just that I had a m/c in February and since then I've had intermittent pains around my right ovary and thigh, so I've been a bit worried about cysts for a while. Do I need to go to my GP or can I self-refer to the EPAU myself to save time.

Another question - my last AF was a bit lighter than usual, but then so was the one before that . Can you have two AFs in early pregnancy?

you can. my mum had afs right thru her pg with me and didnt find out til she was 8m (she stayed in size 10's, the cow) call your gp today and ask for a scan

You are more likely to get a false negative when carrying multiple babies.

NAB - how??? With multiples your HCG levels hit the roof almost immediately.

You can go the EPU yourself - although Monday morning isn't the best time TBH if you can hold out till tomorrow when there will be less of a queue.

Your GP can refer you though - probably by phone just call him/her and explain and ask for immediate screening.

Good luck, sounds like you just think - next Jan/Feb you could be in labour!

great news, the bleeding might have been implantation bleeding or anything. i would, however, mention the bleed to a doc and try to get a scan, and of course any pain or niggles get to a doc quickly.

I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong but I did hear about a lady who kept getting negatives and she was expecting triplets.

I think it depends on the EPU, you could phone them to check.

Went to the doctors this morning. She repeated the test - still positive. I'm booked in for a scan tomorrow morning. I'm really quite scared! I can't understand why last month I had sore (.)(.)s for a week after OV, then they weren't sore and I was sure AF was coming so I didn't test. Then AF appeared as I was expecting. Now 12/13 days later I have a positive pregnancy test, nausea and the sore (.)(.)s have returned. The doctor thinks I'll be either 6 or 10 weeks depending on which AF was real. I'm just scared there'll be nothing there. Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait for tomorrow.

NAB3 - I've read that too much HCG prevent HPTs working properly which may explain false negatives with triplets.

Not good news. No gestational sac to be seen, but I do have a 4cm ovarian cyst. They think it's either ectopic or just too early to see on a scan. I've had a HCG blood test and I'm just waiting for the result.

So confused. By BD dates I can only be 5-6 weeks or 3 weeks pregnant (nothing in between). Presumably if I was 3 weeks I wouldn't have got such a strong bfp (since would have only been 7dpo). But if 5-6 weeks then why did I still get fairly normal AF. Ectopic pregnancies would normal stop AF too wouldn't they?

I'm still thinking it's the cyst. The EPAU thought it was unlikely, but the pregnancy test instructions say that ovarian cysts can give misleading results.

Oh jess, that's rubbish, how awful for you.I thought a positive was pretty much always true, never heard of getting one from a cyst, but I guess if that's what the test instructions say. Should they have seen a sac if you were 5-6weeks?

hi, i am looking for advice here!! ttc AF due today so took a clear blue test this am, negative, still feeling pg tho so tried a lloyd test and the faintest of line came up? am i pg or just wishful thinking??

jess, dont wantr to scare you but i had fresh bleeding with my ep! got bfp on the 21st, started bleeding on the 24th, had what i thought was a mc (bright red bloods, few clots, could have been af if i hadnt known i was pg) got bfp on the 28th (still felt pg)and found out on the 8th feb that it was an ep

my hcg levels had doubled normally, they could see the lining of my womb but no sac/baby on the 1st scan i had (the 30th) but started bleeding again on the 4th. what will they do re rescan etc?

with dd did one tested on day of af (late afternoon) and got very faint line with lloyds test.. couldn't believe so rushed out and bought loads more and they all came up bfn!! tried the next morning a got a bfp so fingers crossed!!!
