Not testing until July

Anyone want some support in holding off with taking pregnancy tests?

My AF is due Tuesday 25th June but I will hold off on testing for two reasons... To avoid disappointment, and also because I have probably got a job interview the following week so would prefer to focus on that before finding out.

To anyone who joins... When is your AF due? And when will you test?

I will probably test on 1st July if no AF has shown up by then.

AF has arrived for me too. It's crap. X

Skyla01 · 29/06/2019 07:59

No sign of my AF yet (although not sure when I'm due). I had cramps all through Thursday night so thought she was coming .

Skyla01 · 29/06/2019 08:01

Sorry to those of you who were hopeful this month and now out :(

A new cycle is a new chance so chin up. I would actually quite like AF to come and end my stupid long cycle!

ChikiTIKI · 29/06/2019 08:09

Sorry @mumof1hants hopefully you will get a BFP next time

@Skyla01 you're right I've had the occasional longer cycle and its frustrating because I find myself just wanting to be able to try again. Hope you get an answer soon.

OP posts:
Skyla01 · 29/06/2019 08:26

@ChikiTIKI yeah that's how I feel. Especially as I'm still getting to grips with what my body is doing, and this cycle I had no idea! Which doesn't help at all, and hence why I still don't know when AF is due or anything. But I have a plan of attack for next cycle so keen to get on with it.

ChikiTIKI · 29/06/2019 08:34

That's good that you have a plan @Skyla01
This last month, we DTD every Monday, Wednesday and Friday plus then either Saturday or Sunday.

Only problem my cycle was a bit longer and we stopped the regime a bit early I think. And I think we do that a lot. My cycles can be anywhere between 28 and 42 days so the "fertile week" can go on forever and it's knackering.

This month I think we will DTD until I am sure it's less than a week until AF will arrive.

My MC baby would have been born in July :( hoping for some good news soon, for all of us! Xxxx

Skyla01 · 29/06/2019 08:44

@ChikiTIKI awww that must be a really tough date for you coming up. Keep the faith- your BFP will come soon.

The mon/wed/fri/weekend DTD sounds like a really good routine! Plus easy to remember. Have you tried using opk or anything else to help pinpoint ovulation better? I would love a regular cycle so we could concentrate our efforts! All the DTD can get exhausting, especially with long cycles.

This cycle I had a few short trips away plus a whole week on holiday without OH so obv missed a lot of dtd time. Next time I think we'll try DTD every third day, and opks to see if I can time ovulation better. Hopefully that will help!

ChikiTIKI · 29/06/2019 11:59

Thanks @Skyla01 I came up with the regime myself lol :) it seemed to work well because we both knew all day on the days we were going to DTD without having to mention it to each other, rather than me reminding DH at 11pm when we are both tired, and us deciding "let's just do it tomorrow instead".

I used OPKs for a while, I think I bought 100 and used them after my MC until I had run out. But I didn't have success with them, mainly I think because my cycles were about 12-16 days long! I would think the OPK looks positive and then AF showed up a day or two later. Maybe I should try them again.... I had an app too where I tracked everything and I stopped that after the MC too because it didn't have an "I've had a miscarriage" button so it kind of messed it all up with cycle lengths, and it wouldn't let me enter the very short cycles (it said "it's too soon for your period" and I was thinking "yes I bloody know but it's happening!!!") so it only accepted every second cycle being entered. So I just gave up with it but felt a lot less stressed not having to do all this tracking and monitoring stuff.

OP posts:
Skyla01 · 29/06/2019 12:25

Yeah, I've heard some people say the tracking with opk is a bit too much, and they find it too obsessive. Also not guarantee you'll get a positive. I think I'll give it a try and see how I get on. Would love it if my cycles magically became 30 day long and regular! That's strange how short your cycles became after mc. I wonder what's going on with all the hormones in our bodies! I use Flo app which it useful for me to keep track of everything but useless at predicting anything!

ChikiTIKI · 29/06/2019 13:14

@Skyla01 I though about using a different app but couldn't be bothered to set it all up. I used Ovulation Tracker.

Before first baby my cycles were about 37 days, sometimes more, sometimes less.

After baby they have been about 32 days. So my cycle that just ended is back to the new normal I suppose.

Before the MC my shortest ever cycle was 28 days, think only was every that short twice in my life. All those short cycles so close together nearly ruined me. I was sick, dizzy, emotional... A mess basically! Taken a while to recover xxxx

Hi all,

Been busy for the last few days so haven't been on this board too much. Just catching up with everyone. Welcome to the new folk, and sorry to hear about the AFs that have arrived.

I'm toying whether to test tomorrow instead of July 1st (AF due July 4th. My head has been all over the place, and I just really want to test soon so I can know one way or another.

I'm so bloated today, it's actually embarrassing. Had to go to a Bar Mitzvah this morning and was holding my belly in the whole time in case anyone thought I was preg (lots of well-meaning but nosy women at synagogue Grin). Also feeling sick as a dog and tired. Might be AF, but it would be very early for me to be getting PMT symptoms. Usually only get them 2 days before, not 5 days before.

Anyway - just wanted to check in. Good luck to all who are testing early next week. Flowers

ChikiTIKI · 29/06/2019 20:00

Sounds positive @Bezalelle ! The longer you hold off on testing the more accurate the result will be though. I would definitely wait until July if I were you. That said, if I had tests already in the house I would have used them already lol. But if I didn't already have done I would wait until next week to buy xxxx

OP posts:
Bezalelle · 29/06/2019 20:13

@ChikiTIKI I have the tests right here!! I think I'll take your advice and wait until July.

mrssunshinexxx · 30/06/2019 08:35

Can anyone give any idea as to why these 2 apps have pretty different expected fertile weeks ?
I have obviously put same af dates in both and any symptoms etc

Think I'm just going to have to go with the dtd every other day if I can from cd10

Can someone remind me please is cd10 counted from the 1st day of your period or 1st day after your period finishes. Thanks

throughthemountains · 30/06/2019 08:42

@mrssunshinexxx I'm having the same issue, too. Curious for an answer!

Skyla01 · 30/06/2019 08:59

My AF arrived yesterday. Actually pleased to see her as this cycle has been long & confusing and I'm really keen to have a fresh start and do things better this time!

@Bezalelle it depends on whether you mind getting a bfn or not. If I'd stuck to the point of this message and not tested until 1st July my AF would have gotten there first and saved me a negative test! I'm also conscious of how many people get chemical pregnancies on here so I'd like to avoid that too. I'm hoping I can be stronger and hold out on testing next month. It's very hard when you have tests in the house though!

@mrssunshinexxx I think perhaps all the apps use a slightly different algorithm so that's why they come up differently? Although I agree you would assume they'd be more similar! I use Flo to track info, but wouldn't rely much on its predictions though. The first day of your period is cd1.

mrssunshinexxx · 30/06/2019 09:02

@Skyla01 ok thanks
My plan this month it to get some his and her pregnacare tomorrow stop my folic acid and start taking that and dtd every other day If we can from cd 10 to 10 days after ovulation.
Not sure how likely this is when dh works away all over the place but I will try my best! X

ChikiTIKI · 30/06/2019 09:40

Sorry about AF showing up @Skyla01

OP posts:
Bezalelle · 01/07/2019 07:49

Right - it's officially July, so I am finally going to test now. Feels like these past two weeks have dragged on forever!

mumof1hants · 01/07/2019 07:53

Good luck @Bezalelle!!! Let us know!! Xx

Bezalelle · 01/07/2019 08:05

Argh. BFN on all three tests. I did a Clear Blue digital, and two cheapies.

AF not due until Thursday.

Is there any hope for me this cycle, do you think? I was so sure! If I'm not pg, I think I'll need to see a doctor about the nausea and abdominal pains I've been feeling.

mumof1hants · 01/07/2019 08:32

I would try a FRER... I don't think the digital Sade as sensitive & I don't trust the cheapies! You never know!! X

Bezalelle · 01/07/2019 08:39

Ok - I'll try an FRER!

The cheapies are much smaller than I thought they'd be. So flimsy! Watching the dye creep up was agonising Grin

x

b0bb1n · 01/07/2019 08:51

I had a period starting on the 1st or 2nd June, so I will be testing on Wednesday if af doesn't arrive by the 1st or 2nd July. It's hard waiting though, 2 more days seems like forever!
