I am a MN virgin - just joined a few days ago. I am ttc no 1 and am very new to all this. You all seem so nice and experienced....I feel quite alone in RL really and a bit worried too...........about my cyle length. I came off the pill after 7 and a half years in Oct. Had been on anti-biotics so doc said to wait a couple of months before ttc to make sure that they were all out of my system. So we started ttc at end of Jan. Nothing has happened yet, and I know that I just have to be patient, but what I am worried about is my cycle length - has been about 43/44 days since I came off the pill, although last cycle was shorter: 39 days (still very long, I know!) At the moment I am on cd 42, have done tests (x3 over the past week!) but BFN all the way. Are these long cycles all totally normal after being on the pill for so long?

I would really appreciate some advice and reassurance, if you don't mind.

Hi littlemiss, welcome on mn and at the ttc table! Lots of babydust to you!! When I came off the pill after 13 years, I had 28 day cycles. We had decided to wait a few months before ttc just to be sure (thoug gp had said hormones leave system right away) and I got a bfp (big fat positive) second month trying. As your cycles seem to be very long to me (am no expert of course), maybe you should ask your gp about that? Or/Plus start a new thread in the conception topic for that question, there are so many lovely ladies out there and I am sure there will be some more helpful answers than mine. Good luck now and I guess we will "see" more of each other on this thread!!

Good morning everyone and welcome to Little Miss and McDreamy!

Had a development this morning....got cramping and had some brown discharge (just the once). Not sure if it is the start of my period (which would be early as not due until next week) or possibly implantation bleeding. I really don't want to get my hopes up...what do you think??

And ps LittleMiss - I was on the pill for a good few years and my cycles have always been long (36/37 days) since coming off. Once I had a very long gap between periods (2 months plus) and my doctor examined me and said I hadn't ovulated that month. I don't think long cycles are a bad thing if they are more or less the same length each time. Hope that helps a bit

Hi to all newbies! CD = cycle date, how many days since your last period (AF).

I have had long cycles also when coming off the pill in the past (three months was not uncommon when I was in my early 20s). I am 29 now and came off pill on Nov 27 last year and got PG on Jan 3 (so AF would have been on Jan17) That is almost two months. I had MC on Mar 21 and had first period after that five weeks later. I am waiting for the next one now (but am hopefully PG instead) but it is already 30 days since last period.

Anyway, I think long cycles are not uncommon, just very frustrating.

FidoDido, your spotting sounds promising, if you don't usually spot at this time. .
Unfortunately I spot from anything upto a week before AF is due (generally brown until full AF).
If this is not normal for you then it could be implantation. Fingers crossed.

My AF was fairly short this cycle but then I had a HSG on Monday and started spotting. Not sure if it will effect the rest of this cycle.
Also started some hypothyroid tablets yesterday, so that may effect my cycle too, not really sure.
Hopefully the HSG and the thyroxine will help me to get pg this month (wishful thinking).

Thank you 3catstoo and brewanyone. I'm very confused. The spotting seems to have finished but I have cramps. I don't normally spot mid-cycle. Too scared to do a pg test - am going to wait until AF due and if it doesn't arrive then will do a test - don't want a get a -ve because i test too early. Don't want to get my hopes up. Wish you well with this all. What is HSG by the way?

I'm on cd23 and still no sign of ovulation or AF. Spotted from cd18-cd21 but has stopped completely now. Not sure what's going on. OPK still negative and temp still low, quite flat in fact. Cycle before m/c was always 26-28 days. Anybody could shed some light on what's going on? Would be greatly appreciated .

Hi all, not sure whats happening now! Tests said i was ovulating on sunday so we have BDd every day wince then. Ov calendar also said most fertile time was 20th -24th so all looks promising. Today however i have had small smudgy dark bleed. Not much but noticable IYKWIM. So what is it? implantation bleed? good or bad sign?
