So I’ve been ttc over a year have taken various pregnancy tests always nothing.
Today I got this....
Is it just yet another cruel taunt in my journey? It’s a sainburys teat notoriously crap I know but I’ve never got that before.
It was my evening urine held for about 4 hours.

MyKingdomForBrie · 27/02/2018 14:13

Yep the FRER is a positive, no reason to assume it won’t stick so just try to take deep breaths and stop the anxious thoughts.

loveulotslikejellytots · 27/02/2018 14:14

Mine started off like this the day my period was due and gradually got darker. I'd say it's a positive.

This could have been me five years ago OP. I was trying for a year and so, so sick of it. When I had given up even bothering to track anything I suddenly realised I thought my period should have arrived. Stopped at Sainsbury’s on the way home from work and did one of those (crappy) tests with a similar result. Worried about it all night, DH told me to wait a few days but the next day I broke and got a FRER in the toilets of Tesco. I got a line- as faint as yours but definitely a line- immediately. That line is now an almost four year old with a lot of attitude Grin and she was swiftly joined by her little sister only 18 months later who was a bit of a surprise as we thought we would have trouble conceiving again.... we didn’t!

Congratulations OP. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Cupcakesandlove · 27/02/2018 14:25

I honestly can’t thank you enough for your help and reassurance.

I hope that no matter how long your journey be that you remain happy and get the result you wish at the end. This is only the start and who knows what will happen nevertheless thank you. And I will let you know in about a week or two how I am getting on x

ButtMuncher · 27/02/2018 14:29

Ah that's definitely positive! Remember although you think it should look darker, it's not first morning urine, you've been holding true but might not be as strong.

You also may have conceived after the time you thought you were ovulating - when I conceived my DS by my Ovia tracker there was little chance I should have been able to conceive then, but I did!

My DS looked like that too btw, and it got a little darker day by day until about a week later when it was a defo clear line. But everyone is different :-)

unicorncow · 27/02/2018 15:41

That's a definite positive! Congratulations

Cupcakesandlove · 27/02/2018 19:20

THanks. I’ll pop off this board now I don’t want to upset anyone who like myself was trying for a long time. But I will let you know if I made it out of “risky territory” x

So I’m back was referred to epu and I had some pink spotting only slight. They said that the lining of my womb was thick 12mo but to early to see anything as I would only be about 4 weeks. The. Went into another room and saw a midwife who told me I’m not pregnant because the pregnancy test she took was negative I had just gone a wee 5 min before and only managed a dribble. Anyway she said Ive had s chemical pregnancy but I asked if I would bleed and she said no, do I just miss a period then? She confused me she went if you do another pregnancy test and it’s positive you may still be pregnant

@Cupcakesandlove it sounds like it's too early for them to say either way. Some bleeding in early pregnancy is common however it could also be the sign of an early loss/chemical pregnancy. I've had 2, one at 6 weeks the other at 5. My tests were always faint at first, got slightly darker then fainter again. Only a thickened lining seen on internal ultrasound. My bleeding came more or less like a period with some clots, heavy for a day or so then light then nothing. I counted the first day of bleeding as CD1. My pregnancies were confirmed with blood tests which also showed the hcg decreasing instead of increasing 48hrs later hence I knew what was happening but I was advised to do another pregnancy test a week to a fortnight later also to check these were negative. Was also advised that there was no harm in trying again immediately as long as I'd had a negative test and no strange pains which I didn't. I hope you have a positive result but if not good luck for the future. I have been assured that these losses are very common and considered simply 'bad luck' rather than an indicator of anything being seriously wrong x

Cupcakesandlove · 28/02/2018 16:34

Hi mamabear, it wasn’t bleeding as such, I had pink spotting after I went to the toilet.
I had had a procedure on my cervix so I was advised to go to epu. The lady who done my scan said it was to early to see anything but she also said my lining was thick. I then saw another lady who done a pregnancy test that came back negitive I knew it would as I had only just gone to the toilet. She then told me oh it’s a chemical bye... I said will I bleed she said yes most likely I said say if I don’t she said well just carry on as normal... I am so confused

OP posts:
Justanotherzombie · 28/02/2018 16:39

She couldn't have known enough to be sure it's a chemical. I think you'll need to wait it out and no bleeding/period is a good sign. Test again in a couple of days.

Cupcakesandlove · 28/02/2018 16:42

Justanotherzombie thank you she was so rude I nearly cried I made an appointment with my gp for 20th March I’m going to leave it till then and then go. She in no uncertain terms told me that I was having a chemical pregnancy and I was no longer pregnant

FellOutOfBed2wice · 28/02/2018 17:11

What a load of old tosh, OP. I had far more than a bit of pink spotting with DD2 and she most certainly wasn’t a chemical pregnancy- or if she was she’s a chemical pregnancy that’s now almost 2, eats steak and wears shoes 😆

You might be having a chemical pregnancy but they can’t possibly know that at this stage. Try and relax and good luck.

Cupcakesandlove · 28/02/2018 17:14

Do you know when I will start to bleed if I am having one?
She was the most awful lady it was obvious it was going to be negative because I had only just gone a toilet she refused on that basis to do any bloods

OP posts:
peterpanwendy · 28/02/2018 17:21

Why on earth would she say that?! My FRERs looked like that at around 3.5 weeks so you might not be as far along maybe? But even at 4 weeks that's totally a valid positive! Pink spotting is also very common and in no way are you showing signs of a chemical. They use cheap tests at the hospital and if it wasn't FMU at this stage I would say stuff her. Keep positive OP, if it's not meant to be then it's not meant to be but right now I wouldn't be disheartened. I'm cross at the nurse for you. all you can do is wait for AF, if she doesn't show then continue to test using pink dye tests (amazon cheapies are a god send for this!) if they get darker then there's no reason why it couldn't be a healthy pregnancy. Best of luck!! X

Cupcakesandlove · 28/02/2018 17:23

Do I need to go to my gp at all to confirm that I am or not?
