Using OPK as HPT

Hey guys,

Anyone done the above? I’ve been working solid last couple of days haven’t been able to buy a HPT. Had a lot of strong OPK’s, no evidence on inet of it actually working as a HPT. Would love to hear peoples strories....

I have done it. A few months ago I did it, it was positive and then the next day AF showed up!! I was gutted.

I got my bfp this week and while I had already got a bfp with a frer (very very very light at 8dpo) the next day at 9dpo I used an ovulation test and it showed positive, which I believe would have been earlier than most normal hpt being that my frer was still light that day too!

I read that you can get a surge right before your due on, so in theory it doesn't really help much doing them! Although I only got a positive 1 day before AF the first time I used them, in comparison to it showing 5 days before this time. So I suppose if you do it a few days before your due on it could be accurate. A day or 2 before it could mean either!

I’ve had a strong reading like this for a week.... don’t want to get my hopes up though x

Oh wow! I would definitely take pregnancy test if you can get hold of one! If it's been a week I'd say that's looking pretty promising! Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I would never trust an OPK as a HPT, however I have been randomly using them since I got my BFP just to see what they looked like and they are incredibly strong dark positive line, like what you are having. You can get a surge before AF but I think it's very unlikely to get such a strong result for one week. So I think there is a very high chance you are pregnant but obvs test with HPT x

When I got pregnant I kept getting strong positives on opks for a few days before I gave up. That was using it around ovulation though. Good luck!

I've used OPKs twice as stand in pregnancy tests and both times I got a strong positive reading the day my period was due and both times I was pregnant.

The thing is my periods haven’t been consistent since coming off pill in Sept, so it’s hard to know when I’m due on, if/when ovulated. That’s why I’m not getting my hopes up

I’m 5 weeks 3/4 days and done an opk yesterday just to see what it looked like
Looks just like yours. I’d deffo take a test!

Gosh, ok will do one! Realistically I’d of conceived around 7 weeks ago if I am! I’m all excited now, but I know a strong test like that can mean other things as well xx

Yeah let us know. I do think that if you were ovulating your control line would be darker than it is in your picture and tbh I’ve never got a test line that dark (even at my most positive day during ovulation) only now that I’m pregnant has it ever been that dark. Fx!

I got confused cause second opk wasn’t as positive as the ic. But managed to still conceive. Really hope yours is more than ovulation

Same here, you are pregnant, no one gets an opk that strong during fertile week. Especially for a long time. But it’s odd that you would be 7 weeks. Have you not felt any symptoms, like gas or cramping? If you haven’t then count yourself lucky because I’ve started getting them now at 5 wks 5days. You should test today would be a lovely New Years present.
