how do you increase chances of having a girl?

ask me to do it for you! lol. i'm good at girls.

I understand that female sperm are slower but can swim for longer, so if you have sex just befopre you ovulate with any luck the male sperm will have burned out while the girls are still going strong.

I should warn you I speak as a mother of one girl and three boys.

ps both mine conceived late in cycle. day 19 or something.

I read on fertilityfriend that if you have sex more often it will be a girl and less often for a boy. Don't know where they got that from. will try it and see.

my last 2 girls were conceived on something like day 8 and day 6 (neither exactly planned - I should have learned my lesson after the first time ).

the position you have sex in can dictate the sex of the baby !!!!!! no, that cannot be !

Not sure if it would dictate. More like increaase the chances. I have no facts to back it up. Just that some people I know have sworn by it and claimed success.

wow ! i have never heard of that.. i have no idea why the position would make a blind bit of difference, unless it affects the ability of certain sperm to swim towards the egg!

i think that all these theories and notions are a bit of fun, but most of them are probably nonesense....

although the boy sperm swimming faster but surviving less than slower swimming girl sperm is true i think !

Just curious why you want to increase your chances of having a girl? If you don't mind me asking, that is?

The timings one is the ONLY one that can work - and that only works SOME of the time !

Some people have girls, some have boys, some have a mix !

some one told me that you should look at the length of your fingers and if your ring finger is longer than your index finger then more likely to have girls, index longer then boys and if same length will be chance - something to do with exposure to testoserone in womb....

to be honest i reckon the hang gliding verus parachuting sex has same credability

my parents love to wind me up by saying girls are conceved (sp) in bed and boys al fresco! i'm one of 4 2 girls 2 boys, my standard responce is i don't want to know!

The Miriam Stoppard book I have suggests for a girlie, try 2/3 days before ovulation as female sperm last that long and for a male baby, do it on the day or just after ovulation (as the faster male sperm will reach the ovum before the female sperm).
For a girl, do it frequently as it lowers the amount of male sperm in the body and do it infrequently for a boy to increase proportion of male sperm. This book is 5 years old and we tested all of these theories with second baby as originally I had wanted another girl but even doing that, we got a boy so who knows!!! Glad we did get a boy though and the theories didn't work.

don't all sperm have x and y chromosomes so in effect they are all both female and male? I think the assumption is the faster ones are more driven by the y chromosome, but that's a theory. My mum has a theory about men who smoke having girls, as smoking damages their y chromosome. My bil is a heavy smoker and has 6 daughters, and another family friend who is also a heavy smoker also has 6 girls. Of course two people do not a trend make.

MrsMar - men have x sperm and y sperm the sperm aren't mixed as in they are either x or y not both but in one single ejaculation there are both x and y, the x sperm will form girls and the y sperm form boys

Don't you just stir it a different way, to make girls?
